Great tip but definitely needs better example photos - keeping everything the same across all three shots (including the pose) and not overexposing. Still, I like that you keep it short and to the point.
at least on my monitor, the whole image is overexposed which means that any slight shadow on the background would not be visible. Perhaps another exposure with the device, the type of which many of us over the years used before commercial modifiers became the vogue. In fact, I carry a modifier attached to my body every day -- my hand. It actually works quite well and is color balanced also which I find some devices are not. Started that at the beginning of my career in the mid `60`s. And yes, it is free!!!
Spiro, glad you used white foam. you can fold the top over with a staple gun. looks like a baseball mitt. works well, and takes a bit of rough treatment
The Flash Diffuser shown by you looks useful & very cheap as well as simple. However, like some other viewers I also find that the photo you have taken with this Diffuser is overexposed. Whether fine tuning the settings would have helped in getting right Exposure ?
Love the idea however how funny it looks if i go out and take wedding pics or birthday pics w my camera and this big foam is jutting out!!! Suggestions please
I like you, bald, bearded photoperson. I shall take my own bald, bearded self out into the world and take some damn photos. In time, I too shall be a bald, bearded photoperson. Also, I totally subbed your channel. Anyone who does TH-cam barefoot deserves a sub.
I chose white on purpose because it makes my flashes easy to identif, especially when on location with a bunch of other photographers using similar gear. You could easily use black.
Elastic bands are a pain to put on and take off, and they're much more likely to accidentally slip off, especially when the thing you're wrapping doesn't go all the way around. Velcro is definitely better.
You convinced me to buy a Gary Fong.
Awesome! Whatever works for you is what you should get!
very nice but the last picture looks over expose especially from the top. kind of hard to judge the differences.

interesting when all the other images I have seem to be good. thanks for the info.

Thank you Stone Cold Steve Austin, I always wanted to make a effective DIY diffuser.

Spyros, your homemade diffuser is very overexposed. Not very convincing.
does it work on portrait and lanscap orientation? can you go vertical quickly? or, should i turn the paper 90 degrees?
If you have it on the back of the flash for horizontal use, you'll probably want to reposition it when you switch to vertical.

Amazing video 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻❣️
Great video! Short, simple, to the point.
Very good indeed.
Thanks
Does this work well for events or better for portrait style photography?
Great simple idea! i often forget flags when shooting portraits.
Rubber bands around the flash head work
It was a quick video indeed - does the "open" side of the craft foam wrap face the subject or the solid craft foam side?
I deduce the open side is pointed to the subject, because light goes out from there.
Great content yet again...Great tip
Haha this guy is a legend....
Why not black velcro? :-(

You crazy, could be the mercury in your filling, hahaha. Thanks for the tip!
You don't need velcro, use a black or white elastic band. Anyone with daughters will find hair bobbins all over the house.

Hi my name is Geoff
I have tried making my own like the video, it does not work to my liking.
