Imagine if CPKC expanded their steam program and Reacquired CP 4-6-2 2317 from steam town. And i was thinking since 2816 is known as the Empress, 2317 would be known as “The Grand Duchess”
HOLA! Thanks you for the great shots, of this beautiful locomotive, whoever you are. Thank you CP for doing this great excursion. It can't be cheap. Hope we get shots like this all the way to Mexico City. Steam trains dig deep into my past (born in '47) and CP2816 gets me all emotional.
Hopefully they will send her east for some tours. We haven’t had live mainline steam in the St. Lawrence & Ottawa River valleys in many decades. Love to see her speeding along the Winchester sub.
Great footage!! I wish I had a chance to see her before she left Calgary, I'll try and catch her when she returns! Great to see everyone lining the tracks to catch a glimpse of this train!
I have the old Triang version of that steam engine Ive had it for 53 years it was produced in black but I’m pretty sure it’s that one As I live in Australia I have always wondered what the loco is modelled after looks fantastic
And again a better view th-cam.com/users/shortsiOxLBg2nDP8?si=kFbczHrlS2ZrybR7 Please let me know if it the same style loco it definitely looks like it Great video even the diesels look great 👍
Couldn’t have said it better! Also I don’t understand why they do this as it costs more to come up with a electronic or air mechanism to switch it on and off whereas they could literally buy 15ft of rope for minimum costs and everyone would be happier! Less money they have to pay and more enjoyable sounds for railfans how can you go wrong!
@@edlrailfanproductions3984short answer is, it’s safer (easier to hear at speed and distance) and they wanted to keep the original whistle as well. Air operated whistles aren’t new, a good example is Pere Marquette 1225 , which had the traditional style of actuation added in the preservation era.
@@moonpie22399 I guess you have a point but at the same time cant they still use lever instead of quilling just use all the lever for max volume! still would be better than sounding like a Loop from Trainz
She still has the original whistle with a cord and she used that when she left Calgary and it sounded so much better. Probably a modern “safety” regulation that they must follow. I’m sure the engineer will use the nicer whistle when he can
@@ianhartley5057 I’ve seen it a couple times now and it has cured my dislikes still sad they use the actuator more then quilling but at least they can if they want.
Beautiful. The Empress is looking fantastic.
It really is!

NOw that she is fully restored, probably will.
Great footage!! I wish I had a chance to see her before she left Calgary, I'll try and catch her when she returns! Great to see everyone lining the tracks to catch a glimpse of this train!

Was expecting the bright green locomotive to accompany the train but was surprised to see the two f series diesels in its place!

I love how he cuts off the ditch lights when he approaches at some locations
No, this is a empress, not a prince

Go Sixteen, Go! Let's see what steam can do!
Wow nice lOcomotive CLKC 2816 Calgary - Mexico City.
Awesome video! Thanks for sharing! Do you when it’s coming back to Calgary?
Thanks! And no I don't but I suspect it will be towed by another train on the way back, won't be leading itself as crew will be returned home.
Can’t believe I missed it! Any idea on where it’s going? Cause I don’t think it was in Ottawa, Ontario…..
Going to Mexico city
@@videosoftrains Will it return soon?
Are more videos coming?
No not following this train any more
So glad the green atrocity is gone
Me too!
Did it go south first and now on it's way back? Is that the route?
Will reach Mexico City at end of the month
Crazy Lashup☑️
Hey is she coming to Vancouver?
Not this year no
What cameras do you use?
Mostly Nikon Z6ii. A mavic mini 3 and a DJI Action 3. I really like them all.

Beautiful locomotive and consist, but that whistle is awful. Throw that crap in the ditch and use a real steam whistle with a cord.
