@Ross Otto In his autopsy they found he had the matter in his brain that Alzheimer's ppl have. He didn't kill himself out of anything but knowing something in his brain wasn't right. He knew bad shit was happening to him and that depression from the brain buildup did him in. It is very sad that we still don't know how to stop Alzheimer's before it kills. If in fact you celebrated someones death, you deserve whatever life gives you. Karma is a bitch. Wishing death on someone else is just plain ignorant. Enjoy your ignorant life loser.
Apparently it's a technique we've been using since Medieval theatre days, to tell jokes for the first half and to turn it serious the second half, and that's the perfect recipe to make people cry. Somehow Robin only had to turn it vaguely serious for 30 seconds at the very end to give the performance a wholesome feel than make us connect to him, to what he is saying and to life in general, in a way that goes beyond mere jokes and brings a tear to my eye.
Yeah. I grew up watching stuff like Aladdin, Mrs. Doubtfire and Flubber, and the first time I saw his stand up I almost didn't believe it. It was crazy to see this guy I grew up with in all my favorite movies drop some of the most vulgar and hilarious jokes I'd ever heard.
This made me cry. I am not sure why. Especially that last part. I know it silly, but the last part felt like he was talking to all of us. "Well, what's it gonna be?" "I don't know, but maybe along the way, you take my hand, will tell a few jokes and have some fun. You're not afraid are you?" "Nah...fuck it." Even with the laughter. He basically said what life is. "Tell a few jokes and have some fun."

Billy, based on your post, it sounds like you are already on your way. Instill right from wrong, be a protector, yet allow them to make mistakes to learn. Most importantly, be a good example for them because they are watching everything you say and do. Treat your wife like you hope your boys will treat their wives and how you want your daughter to be treated by her husband. Don’t hide your mistakes and fears. Showing your vulnerability to them shows you are a real person with emotions too which will open the door for them to show theirs to you in return. I recall seeing a video of a father who had a son commit suicide at 14 hrs old. He said he always portrait himself to his kids as a strong, successful business leader but never showed any vulnerability in front of his kids. He feared his child chose death over portraying weakness to his father since his father never showed any. I had a horrible upbringing and only saw my father a few times after I was 7 yrs old. I’ve made sure my boys don’t have to grow up in the same physical and emotional environment that I grew up in. I feel like the richest man in the world because of my relationship with my wife and boys, and I hope you will feel the same. God bless.
Diana, Princess of Wales, is alive! Yes, and it’s time the world begins to awaken to this Truth and so much more. Not only is our beloved Princess still with us, but so is John F. Kennedy, Jr., Carolyn Bessette Kennedy, and Lauren Bessette. There’s also a long list of celebrities and entrepreneurs including David Bowie, Elvis, Marilyn Monroe, Michael Jackson, Robin Williams, Steve Jobs, and Whitney Houston. So, how does one account for something as unbelievable as this? Well, each person named above, and those whose names haven’t been revealed yet, have their own story, and soon you’ll be learning about it. However, in the meantime, here’s the short version. Each one of these people, at one point, entered into a worldwide witness protection program. Wondering what these individuals needed protection from? It’s something the likes of which the average man or woman has never been confronted with. Although it may sound funny, each one of us will eventually have a role in the “Big Picture,” too. What is it? We need to respectfully listen to their stories and begin to understand the “as yet, unrecognized threat” that humanity has been living amongst. Bottom line is that we must give these brave people an opportunity to tell their stories and face head-on the Truths that we’ll be given in order to protect our families and ourselves now and forever more. Best way for us to complete our responsibility is to have unwavering faith in our Creator, God Eternal. I've heard these stories all too many times having 9 siblings and more nieces and nephews than you can count. Robin Williams is hilarious and right on point with this depiction of fatherhood, including his signature, an ending that makes you smile and your heart grow ten times
Gary Liseo Jr Don't get me wrong I miss robins Williams too. But my dad has 17 siblings. I am grandchild #59. I'm pretty sure you don't have that much family compared to me lol.

There will never be a day when I don’t miss the energy, and laughter from this brilliant man. He raised us all up with humor, but kept our feet on the ground. RIP dear Robin. 😥
RIP Robin - You graced the world with your special humor and your humanity, both of which will be sorely missed. Only a father would understand where he was coming from, but on those good days every dad realizes that it's all worth it - every bit of it!
Today marks the 9th of October 2019. I cannot count how many times I have seen this bit from the Legendary Robin Williams. I am 22 and since I was 16 I have dreamt what it would like to be a father and have a loving family one day. The amount of sheer joy I feel from Mr. Williams is beyond what my level of English allows me to describe. I am at loss for words. I hope to be at least half good the father as Mr. Williams is comedian. I dare say He is missed very much.
You know, I really don't laugh at much. But I will laugh at Robin Williams. Yes, this was intended to be funny and yes it is stand up, but he has a deeper meaning to this: son's need their fathers throughout their life. To guide them. To teach them. And maybe one day that'll all go away and the dreams father had were untrue. That doesn't matter though. Essentially, don't let your life pass you by and take advantage of every moment. Cause it's short....... and so is the time with your father.
I have a 2 1/2 year old son and a 2 1/2 month old daughter. I just saw this for the first time and it might be the most relateable and awesome thing I've ever seen. RIP Robin. You are truly missed by so many
I met Robin in person in August 2002 in Incirlik, Turkey while setting up the stage for a USO Show. What an entertainer on and off the stage. He also spent time with us military personnel talking and taking pictures with everyone who wanted them. Lost to soon but what a comedian who could make anyone laugh.
About 25 years ago, my brother was in a horrible car accident. A drunk driver swerved into my brother’s lane and caused a head on collision with him. The drunk driver was instantly killed, having been ejected through his windshield. Miraculously, my brother was still alive when the paramedics arrived on the scene, but was seriously injured. He was rushed to the hospital where received several emergency surgeries to try and save him, spending a total of 3 months in ICU in a medically induced coma. One day, the doctor told my family the news. There was nothing more they could do for my brother and they were going to take him off life support the next morning. The hospital gave us one more night to spend with him. We were devastated. We tried to make the best of it by telling stories about my brother, holding his hand, trying to laugh, etc. The hospital had this stand up on VHS, so we decided to try and cheer ourselves up by watching it in my brothers room. As soon as it started playing, my brother came out of his coma, grabbed the remote, and turned it off!
God, I love and miss this man so much! He gave us his life so we could laugh at ourselves. Like so many gifted people, he suffered for his talent, but he still had the courage to persist in the hopes of a better future. Bless all those who follow in his footsteps.
Suffer for your talents. Wtf does that even mean? Is it one of those euphemisms that humans use just to say some BS. Robbin was drug abuser addicted to cocaine. Committed suicide after he fried his brain. Nothing romantic about it.
He always made me laugh til I cried, but now that he's gone, this has made me laugh until I'm weeping tears of grief and longing. He was, and still is, deeply loved and forever etched in my heart. Robin...so gifted, and you gave us the many gifts of laughter, poignancy, joy, and love. Peace to all of your children. Joy and delight to your future grandchildren as they get to know and love you, too.
It's pretty sad you are putting this cokehead womaniser in such a high glory... Well in Africa they worship big rocks so go figure. Humans will make anything as their false idols. First commandment out of the window right there.
robin williams was huge all over the world and touched millions of hearts , he is truly missed , may he rest in peace. ty for this upload A Dram A Day.
Robin was so good at setting this insanely wild bar of energy all the way up, and then ratcheting it down really quiet somewhere when he was ready to make his point and bring it all together.
Doesn’t matter how many years it’s been since I’ve first seen it or how many years it’s been since he died, this bit by Robin Williams will forever be my favorite & I’ve yet to see anything done by him that didn’t make me laugh. This bit always makes me laugh so hard I can’t breathe with tears streaming down my face.
A truly great man left this world in a very terrible way. But at least he have left a lasting impression of some very funny stuff. This clip is over 30 years old and it still rings true. And made me laugh so hard. 😆. Robin Williams, hopefully you found the peace you need. R.I.P.
I'm glad to see someone didn't simply call it "heartwarming". To me, Williams got a little too real and just sucked the energy out of the room at the end. He didn't wave, he didn't stand around, he just turned his back on his audience and left. The act entered its depressive part of his manic act and by the sounds of that one guy trying to laugh, the audience didn't know how to take it.
Tskmaster, I think Robin was just being So Real at the last part, that the audience didn’t know How to react. I reacted just like that audience did when I first saw him do this performance. I thought the ending was sweet. Then, that it was sentimental and nostalgic. And, THEN, I thought it was actually, truly sad. Before Robin vanished completely, into the dark at the back of that stage, I realized that his performance was ALL those things/feelings, and more. I kinda, just sat there quietly, and just allowed the whole thing to wash over me, again and again. I was almost in a trance like state, re-living the experience. I felt like the last part was the largest Truth I’d ever witnessed. And that Truth left me in Awe of Humanity.
I really miss this man. His ability to take you from drop dead laughter to pensive tears was incredibly unique. How sad to have someone so warm and funny taken so tragically but hey, I'm glad I got to spend a bit of time in the world he made a little brighter. RIP Robin, you're very much missed
Such an amazing guy, comedian, father and human. He is sorrowfully missed by millions. We all love you Robin Williams. Please entertain my Dad up in Heaven ❤
One of the few comedic geniuses. One minute the whole room on the floor laughing, and boom just like that the next minute all quiet with not a dry eye in the place. That's Mr. Williams. I can't think of anyone else that has the power to hold an audience in the palm of their hands like he did. R.I.P. Mr. Williams.
Quoting from Month Python’s The Life of Brian. “Always look on the Bright Side of Life.” Thank you Mr. Williams for giving us such laughter, You will always be greatly missed. I was devastated when I heard you passed and lost your fight with depression, But it’s alright, You’ll forever be immortalized on the Internet and be loved by millions, If not, Billions. Thank you Mr. Williams for making us and others laugh in the darkest of times. Rest In Peace.
The entire story was just the funnies of life that all ends with the truth of it all. That's how a lot of his comedy was. A legend if there ever was one.

'You're sitting in your own shit and now you're Carl Sagan?!?' THIS MAN WAS A GEM I LAUGHED SO HARD. #RobinWilliamsForever
My father died when I was just 7 years old. I'm about to be a father... I just hope I can do my father proud in becoming the great father I knew my dad was gonna be...
Billy James hope you do man!
You will because you care
God bless.
So u dead or?
When I see him in videos I laugh so hard, then I cry. We miss you so much Robin
Seen this 100 times makes me laugh till I cry EVERY TIME!!! MISS YOU ROBIN.
I could barely breathe laughing at every second of this. Robin Williams thank you for being who you are.
I've heard these stories all too many times having 9 siblings and more nieces and nephews than you can count. Robin Williams is hilarious and right on point with this depiction of fatherhood, including his signature, an ending that makes you smile and your heart grow ten times

Don't get me wrong I miss robins Williams too. But my dad has 17 siblings. I am grandchild #59. I'm pretty sure you don't have that much family compared to me lol.
that one girl with too much free time who said this was a competition?
Omg it's so late at night and I'm trying to laugh on the inside so i don't wake my son or husband. Can't breathe, help LMAO
Yeah, that happens if you watch Robin...he was one of a kind.. hahahaha fucks you up completely
Jesus that’s me right now..
I like how he stands like Wile E. Coyote if he was a cyborg powered by meth.
Asbestos Fish that image maybe one of the most incredible and funny ive ever heard lol
He was addicted to coke and alcohol in the 80s.. He was probably high as a kite.. No disrespect intended.. He was a comical genius... He's missed greatly..
I've been trying for years to convey that observation as elegantly as you conveyed it. Kudos.
Greatest comedian ever. He will be forever missed.
No one:
TH-cam recommends: A 1986 standup routine from Robin Williams on fatherhood
But seriously I can't watch this because I will never get over his death RIP Robin Williams 😪
I think Robin would have liked it if you did. Seemingly the only joy out of life he had was making other people happy.
Missing out
Enjoy the gift he gave us.
There will never be a day when I don’t miss the energy, and laughter from this brilliant man. He raised us all up with humor, but kept our feet on the ground. RIP dear Robin. 😥
"Its a little old man dipped in 40-wt!" I died!
The Haagen Daz part was priceless. 😂
@Michal Flodr What a lovely comment! I am sure you will have a wonderful family some day if you care this much now. All best to you.
None stop Robin has you either grinning with a frozen face or laughing uncontrollably. We miss you Robin.
“It makes her periods seem like nothing” 💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀
I believe him 100%
What a brilliant comedian.❤ Miss him so much😢
he goes from super manic to heartwarming in no seconds flat
The best standup comedy that ever was! We will never see one quite like him again. R.I.P Robin Williams...
There will never ever be a legend like him again
Robin Williams man Robin Williams. Truly one of a kind
God, I love and miss this man so much! He gave us his life so we could laugh at ourselves. Like so many gifted people, he suffered for his talent, but he still had the courage to persist in the hopes of a better future. Bless all those who follow in his footsteps.
Those that laugh and joke the most hide the most pain.
This is both heartwarming and heartbreaking. I still miss Robin Williams so much.
Robin. Williams was a great man and will always be missed 😢
Thanks for the laughs, Ben. Robin Williams was a true comedy genius and this is definitely a classic! Congratulations. Give your family my best.
Thanks Luis!
robin williams was huge all over the world and touched
millions of hearts , he is truly missed , may he rest in peace.
ty for this upload A Dram A Day.
Thank you,A Dram A Day. 😰. 🌟 Gold.
I miss him.😔
I still get emotional when I see a clip of him. You are still truly missed Robin.
First time I saw this routine, I almost laughed myself into labor!
I wonder if Zach has ever gone back and watched these old things. I wonder if it hits him as hard or harder than it hit me
Did he... Just tell the audience about how he handles his depression over 30 years ago?
It must not have worked or at least not forever.
Are you talking about the "drinking and getting stoned" part or the "Fuck it" part?
He was a warrior, fought.
Awesome. Robin Williams was a true genius. Nothing like him :)
Luke ever since we were blessed with his genius he became the one every comedian wanted to be
One of the few comedic geniuses.
“Always look on the Bright Side of Life.”
Thank you Mr.
The ending was beautiful, just, perfect, filled with hope, and honesty and just, good feelings, that was amazing.
The entire story was just the funnies of life that all ends with the truth of it all. That's how a lot of his comedy was. A legend if there ever was one.
As a dad of two this is pretty damn accurate all around, and I've loved every second of it so far.
This never gets old. He was an amazing man and left this world way too soon.
This was thee best standup in comedy history ... the entire 2 hours was side splitting!!!!
Thanks for this. Much by Robin that I have not seen, yet this is a keeper classic.
I've seen Robin Williams' stand up shows online so many times and I laugh every single time. He never gets old, RIP
