This is my first time watching Robin Williams do stand up comedy. And i'm like, holy fuck this guy is impressive. His voice acting and facial expression are unlike anything I've ever seen. I don't think he was just the voice actor of the Genie in Aladdin. I honestly think they modeled the genie's character after him.
Half right. The writers had an idea of how they wanted the character to go. And then Williams got cast, and he did what he's done in several of his TV shows and movies: he improvised a completely different direction of how he thought the character should go, and the writers took their cues from him after that. Ever since he guest starred on Happy Days, Williams always created his own path, and his enthusiasm made it impossible not to want to join him on it.
Carlin, Pryor, both incredible, two of the greatest comedians every. But, I have to put Robin on top, his energy, they way he rolled back and forth, no one can touch him. 3 comedic Gods, but Robin was from another world (actually, he kinda was :) )
I'm a Christian and I simply adore Robin WIlliams and his comedy routine, especially this. He took something that could get a ton of people riled up if it is made fun of and just ran with it like he had a M-16 up his ass that was about to fire. He just simply loved to make people smile and have a good time. I honestly don't care what he jokes he makes as long as they aren't straight up hateful. The jokes he made here were in line with what is in the Bible (regardless of if a person believes in it or not) and he would poke fun at various things that did seem weird both in the Bible and outside of the Bible. Does it mean he automatically goes to Hell cuz he took his own life? Both yes and no depending on your viewpoint. Personally, I like to believe he went to Heaven cuz I believe that if you are saved and truly believe you are saved, then you are allowed into Heaven, despite the way you died.
Poor dear Robin's life was hell. His parents ignored him. He had to play by himself. His marriages failed. Then he got an incurable disease which gave him a hellacious future. That's why he committed suicide. He is finally at peace. He was a totally unique talent the likes of which we will never see again. I am sure that he is seated at The Right Hand of The Father. His life was Hell. He deserves to be in Heaven.

Yep. In practice, it's kind of the opposite of _normal_ compassion. Normal compassion is like, "Oh, he mocked my religion, but he hanged himself because he had Parkinson's Disease and he was completely miserable. Poor guy. No one deserves to die like that." Christian compassion, on the other hand, is like, "Yes! _Yes!_ He offed himself! The blasphemer offed himself! _Burn in Hell,_ you damned heretic!" My dad is a priest and he knows a lot about Judaism and Islam from reading and talking to people of those faiths. From listening to Robin W.'s interviews and interviews from other people who worked with him, I think he too liked to educate himself and read a lot.
For those slimy types who will try to claim that Robin's suicide was due to his lack of faith, Note this: He didn't commit suicide due to depression. He had an incurable and horrific brain disease that was going to kill him after an extremely horrible ordeal in which he would go completely mad. If anyone has visited, or cared for, loved ones who suffer(ed) prolonged and agonizing dementia, they wouldn't be so callous. This is my first time watching Robin Williams do stand up comedy. And i'm like, holy fuck this guy is impressive. His voice acting and facial expression are unlike anything I've ever seen. I don't think he was just the voice actor of the Genie in Aladdin. I honestly think they modeled the genie's character after him.

Half right. The writers had an idea of how they wanted the character to go. And then Williams got cast, and he did what he's done in several of his TV shows and movies: he improvised a completely different direction of how he thought the character should go, and the writers took their cues from him after that. Ever since he guest starred on Happy Days, Williams always created his own path, and his enthusiasm made it impossible not to want to join him on it.

They just unleashed Robin, and sat back while he delivered tons of content they could use. The guy was a comical genius! 😂❤

I'm a Christian and I simply adore Robin WIlliams and his comedy routine, especially this. He took something that could get a ton of people riled up if it is made fun of and just ran with it like he had a M-16 up his ass that was about to fire. He just simply loved to make people smile and have a good time. I honestly don't care what he jokes he makes as long as they aren't straight up hateful. The jokes he made here were in line with what is in the Bible (regardless of if a person believes in it or not) and he would poke fun at various things that did seem weird both in the Bible and outside of the Bible. Does it mean he automatically goes to Hell cuz he took his own life? Both yes and no depending on your viewpoint. Personally, I like to believe he went to Heaven cuz I believe that if you are saved and truly believe you are saved, then you are allowed into Heaven, despite the way you died.

Poor dear Robin's life was hell. His parents ignored him. He had to play by himself. His marriages failed. Then he got an incurable disease which gave him a hellacious future. That's why he committed suicide. He is finally at peace.
He was a totally unique talent the likes of which we will never see again. I am sure that he is seated at The Right Hand of The Father. His life was Hell. He deserves to be in Heaven.

Normal compassion is like, "Oh, he mocked my religion, but he hanged himself because he had Parkinson's Disease and he was completely miserable. Poor guy. No one deserves to die like that." Christian compassion, on the other hand, is like, "Yes! _Yes!_ He offed himself! The blasphemer offed himself! _Burn in Hell,_ you damned heretic!"
It's kind of funny how Christians claim to follow Jesus of Nazareth, yet Jesus practiced that _normal_ kind of compassion...you know, like how the Romans came to arrest him and Peter wigged out and hacked that one Roman guy's ear off, but Jesus chewed Peter out for being violent, then went on to fix that Roman's ear even though Jesus was well within his rights to leave it rotting on the ground. Or how Jesus asked God to forgive the Romans right before dying on the cross, because the Romans were ignorant and it wasn't really their fault. _That_ sort of compassion.

Branches of Christianity like Luthurans, Huguenots, Church of England had not been created during the time of the Inquisition. My Christian brethren take this way too seriously. "Blasphemy! Robin Williams doesn't think he's funny in hell, now, does he?" does God not have a sense of humor? He knows Robin wasn't being serious and it's all a joke. Robin was religious. It was clear in multiple interviews.

I was raised a Jehovah's Witness, and even though I am not the most religious of people, I still have great respect for Christ. And I think he would have laughed his ass off at this bit! I don't understand when people think God/Jesus doesn't have a sense of humour!

For a man who wasn't Jewish himself, Robin sure knew a lot about Judaism. It must've been his friendship with Billy Crystal.
My dad is a priest and he knows a lot about Judaism and Islam from reading and talking to people of those faiths. From listening to Robin W.'s interviews and interviews from other people who worked with him, I think he too liked to educate himself and read a lot.
I heard he celebrated various Jewish holidays with Billy Crystal.
A great man, he still makes me smile even after his death, thank you Robin Williams, you will be forever missed...

For those slimy types who will try to claim that Robin's suicide was due to his lack of faith, Note this: He didn't commit suicide due to depression. He had an incurable and horrific brain disease that was going to kill him after an extremely horrible ordeal in which he would go completely mad. If anyone has visited, or cared for, loved ones who suffer(ed) prolonged and agonizing dementia, they wouldn't be so callous. The really sad thing is when the religious use tragedy to recruit for the cult.

Religions are glorified cults. They take vulnerable people's money, manipulate political parties, force their fucked up sense of "morality" on people and they fuck with everyone's lives. The world would be better off with no religion. Not perfect by any stretch, but better.
