After being a manager at a park with rides for 19 yrs sadly I know what you mean with the staff, I noticed a change in attitudes to working on the rides the last 6 years I moved out of the uk 2022, they don't like not being able to use their phones for long periods of time, and that also leads to them not really being able to engage with customers on a face to face because their communication has been mostly online and they only out working because the parents have made them. That's not to say all the young workers are the same, the best ones that I tended to witness were the ones that had maybe been in youth organisations and had a much better attitude to helping and smiling. Some were much better after they had been to university and returned for summer seasons as they had more social skills, it's a big problem for most parks now, finding that balance of staff
Thank you ❣️. Darren
So funny watching you try to navigate the park for the first time 😅 You looked like you enjoyed your first visit and you were clearly excited, like a kid in a sweet shop!
Glad you had a good time I really love the theming of the park!! I have only been once in the 90's as a kid I can remember bubble works ride but nothing else. Looking at it and I'm thinking yeah it's worth a visit as an adult. It's a real shame the staff weren't great though and hopefully you caught them on an off day.
What a great day had by all. If anything I hope staff start being nicer to the visitors. Can’t understand why they are unpleasant. But looking forward to your next theme park. Thank you Darren.
I went here a few times a kid and got to return last year. Vampire wasn't as good as I remembered but Dragons Fury exceeded my expectations and is my favourite coaster in the park. I got two rides on Mandrill Mayem both on row 6 right wing inside seat and it was just okay in my eyes but a great fit for the park
Just come back from a weekend at Chessington I agree with your comments the staff need to cheer up there is a lot of grumpy staff. We also found ehe. You asked a question about access passes of wheel chair hire they had to ask some one. There not a patch on Alton Towers staff. One.thing that I found odd it the wheel wheel chair hire is at the grass carpark entrance but the disabled car park is the other side of the park at the hotel entrance. We got sent to two different places before getting the right place. Staff there was very good along with the bag search team.they were fantastic great banter with the Q line while doing a great job
Hi Darren - really enjoyed the video - haven't been to Chessington in a while, some areas do look a bit run down but hopefully they focus on tidying it up at the end of the season. Have a great week - Don
Looks a great day out with some innovative and exciting rides, though from your comments, it seems it could do with sprucing up of some of the infrastructure and staff attitudes.
If you ever find yourself in Belgium I can highly recommend Cyclone at Bobbiejaanland. It's indoors with what seems like a never ending climb before the real coaster starts, in the dark. Awesome ride
The organist in Vampire is a retired Phil Collins Waxwork from the days when Tussauds owned Chessington. They chose him because he was already sitting down playing the drums so he was ready to play the organ.
Wow the now Tiger Rock log flume was there when i went on a school trip when I was 10 and now I'm in my 40s! Shame they got rid of my favourite Bubbleworks and Rameses Revenge.
Get yourself out to Europa Park Rust Germany Darren. Absolutely fantastic ride operations and a superb themed park with some great rides. Voltron in the new Croatian themed area is world class. Both my eldest daughter and I gave it a solid 10 😎
Too busy to notice you were down sarf near me. Turn left outside CWOA and I'm 2 miles up the road. Trying to gain access to the old seethingwells filter beds and some of the old buildings there could be an idea for an old industrial archaeology video
I can't say I'm really into theme parks myself, but I know you do enjoy your rides, Darren, especially the ones that make you damp... Thank goodness you went when it was quiet though - you'd have been all day queueing, otherwise. Shame about the staff you encountered - maybe they should all be given a paint brush to touch up all those rough bits when they get bored, which I imagine will be most of the time. Seriously though - it's probably just a London thing, mate.
I've seen coasters like that Jumanji coaster popping up at smaller, cheaper, theme parks all over the US lately. I've never been very impressed with them, but then again, they're kind of family coasters usually. The ride time is usually WAY too short for a ride that's so short. They're kind of like a quarter of a roller coaster. But I guess they're good for parks with limited space. They just aren't my thing. They're like a stretched out Boomerang coaster with a launch rather than a drop hill. Not really my thing. In most cases, I've seen these new coaster designs trying to make up for lack of thrill and ride time with theming.
Chessington was great when I was younger but it’s poor now. No really decent rides like Thorpe, Alton and Blackpool. I was gutted to hear they ditched the bubbleworks, but now I can see the ride is essentially the same just a different theme. I was misinformed in a way.
I've had a go pro and chest strap since I started the channel. I would have been filming but merlin don't allow it on rides. Just the gruffalo. If you watch my other theme park stuff you'll see me filming on the rides at flamingo land etc. They allow it.
@@AdventureMe I have watched others and it's rare you film a full ride. As for the sneers you were getting, it had me wondering if it was maybe your age. The park was filled with kids and I didn't see that many singles/couples outside school groups. And there you were, two older men with packs filing everything. People are 'suspicious' of everything because we like being victims of our own (usually unreasonable and untenable) fears.
Looks like you two had a great day, "No Rain." The queue/station for Vampire looked great, the theming would make for a great Medieval steak house.
Your channel is the best in the world 🌎🌎
Thanks. Glad you like it

Yeah I can see that in other industries too. It's only going to get worse.
Loved the day Darren, got to see both out first impressions of the place!
Brilliant 🎉 can't believe you then went onto Thorpe Park I'd be knackered 😂
The vampire ride was epic back in the day… I remember it opening….. the headbang through the tunnel used to get me as a kid.
Man das war richtig cool 🤩.

Good video, thank you for sharing 😊
Darren, the area around the "Rattlesnake" queue really reminds me of Knott's Ghost Town and the Ghostrider roller coaster.
Yeah it does a bit
"World of Adventures?" I'm in!!
Great video! Mandrill is a great addition, Vampire though just holds so much for me. Croc Drop a kids ride 😂😂 brutal lol
I don't have that nostalgia for it. But I can see that it does. Probably needs a big overhaul or a modern take. It's still popular I suppose.
@@AdventureMe it is sadly a shadow of it's former self
Nice one Darren👍👍
The smell in what is now Gruffalo use to be amazing. I still can smell it down when I close my eyes and think about it.
Can't wait for this. I never been
Morning Darren. I haven't been there for awhile. I loved the original gondolas on vampire ride in the 90s . Shame you couldn't show on ride to .

Absolutely. Don't think they will though. They will when universal opens though.
@@AdventureMe haha yes the will def have to then

Yeah I'm planning a visit one day
I’m going tomorrow so excited
Enjoy

Yeah. I spouted that fact in the queue line. Lol .I've read Wardleys book lol

Oh I've been there. Spent three days there in 2019.
Thanks great video.😂
Glad you enjoyed it
Paultons park is kept mint👌🏻 very impressive.
I need to go
Lovely day 0:16 virgin Chessington theme park great merlin place

That's what someone else said. Possibly a London thing
Great video as always Darren but why can't we ride with you ??
They don't allow on ride filming at Merlin Parks. Or I would have.
Thanks pal see you on the next one 👍

It was pretty surprising this one though
Does anyone remember the 5th dimension ride…. Gutted when that closed.

Yeah it's well missed I am told
They ought to reserve 25% of days as No Shrieking Days.
Dude, I've been following you forever and it's time you got yourself a chest strap and a GoPro. You go on those rides and you should take us with you.

did you not manage to get on zufari? a really unique ride that is.
No. We didn't have time. And half of it was empty.
Why do they need queues? Why not just issue "bacon counter" tickets.
7:51 how is that still alive
Traumatised you said the M word!😂
M word?
@@AdventureMe not saying it
Why can't you film on th rides?
Merlin's rule for all their parks.
