- Darius Cozmic Collection really opened my eyes to Darius Gaiden and how great it is, but I've heard a lot of people are a bit intimidated by the difficulty. I'm not personally great at shmups but I managed to 1cc it so I wanted to share my sloppy, initial 1cc with commentary to help people understand the game a bit more and give it a shot themselves!
Also apologies for my sniffling- I've got awful allergies.

I just got my 1cc on Darius Gaiden (my first shmup 1cc ever), and just wanted to say thanks as this video and your run on Shmup Slam 3 were huge inspirations and study material for me on the path. I love this game.

@@GojiGuy That's Correct. In the image its my Atomiswave SD cab with Darius Gaiden Extra version . I have 6 cabs total . Also the ash tray is from a shooting team I Participate in . I was stoked to see you used it in the beginning . Your videos are very helpful . thank you

Haven't actually beaten Darius Gaiden yet as I just started playing it again recently, so I haven't seen the ending text scroll yet and man that cracked me up. That's uh, definitely one of the translations of all time.
Yeah, the endings in this game are something... If you can even read them in time! 😂

With the right weapon he makes for a really easy boss 3. And he's not a hard milk when playing for score!
Nice playthrough, i die many times after level 1 ;$. But i still love the games of the cozmic collection.
Capturing is hell in this game. Still gotta try to learn on how I can survive in this game.

This game is tough (I mean, in traditional TAITO fashion, it's all about putting you in very tough situations relentlessly)... but oh so beautiful. You've definitely motivated me to track a copy down! Though from what I've heard this game isn't very balanced for auto-fire... not that I'm complaining, need all the help I can get >< I feel if you can do well at this game G. Darius would also be worth trying, I remember way back when I used to own the PS1 version I was able to get as far as the fourth stage (out of five... or was it six?) on one credit without much thought.
Yeah, I mean it isn't balanced for auto fire, but it is (IMO) way more fun with it. Every arcade unit I've encountered has it as well. And FWIW the autofire does crank up the rank, so it balances it a bit.
I just did my first 1cc of G-Darius. Loving it!
Friend of mine had it on Sega Saturn. Could never get past Neon Light Illusion

Do you use the analog stick or the d-pad (directional buttons)
if I'm playing portable, d-pad. If I'm playing at home, arcade stick.
Are you using turbo for the most part? Or do you tend to alternate?
In this run I mostly use turbo, in my other run on the channel (and my shmup slam run) I alternate much more. Mostly to deal with bullet limits on screen, but also rank and some boss patterns.
Electric Fan is hard than Folding Fan.
Is the turbo enabled by default on the switch version?
I don't remember what the default settings are to be honest. I set my controls ages ago to mimic the arcade setup. I believe it offers a separate turbo button at default but everything is customizable.
Can do 1cc without Turbo ON?
