      Right?! There is an awesome book I've been listening to while stitching lately called Honeybee Democracy by Thomas Seeley. It's about how bees decide when to swarm and where to move once they do. Remarkable stuff. Some of his lectures are on YT, highly recommend. :)

    You are quite an amazing woman Jody. You have revealed skills we didn’t know you had! From whispering to bees, to rescuing and sleuthing through a Rolls Royce of Singers, to giving a well loved sewing box a new home. We are all better for knowing you through Floss Tube!!!

    I probably say this every time, but, you have quickly become one of my top flosstubers! Love your humor, can do attitude about stitching, and lots more. Anyway, … Animal Scientist vs wildlife Biologist, in brief. I have a PhD, and PostDoc, and lots of eclectic training thrown in, so my perspective is likely different. I was also not born and bred into the profession. I am a biologist that is very practical and work with farmers and mainly dairy cattle. I have a deep background in diseases and math associated with disease. I help farmers pinpoint causes of mastitis (disease of the Udder, mainly caused by bacteria) and help to resolve those causes which improves quality of milk produced. If I had been a Wildlife Biologist, I also would have spent lots of time outdoors but studying wildlife habitats and behavior and environmental influences. Hopefully that helps. I love science and how things work, including bacteria.
    Thanks Jody for enabling me again (although my credit cards are not happy). This time with Heartstrings Samplery. Last time it was the littles and a lot more than the specific designs you mentioned. See my Instagram for my sewing box acquisitions… Love yours!! Also, man, I’m so envious of your machine acquisition!! Also love your intro!! Ok. Done for now with all my gushing. 🤭. I have no idea what that emoji means, but seemed appropriate. Oops forgot to mention, I love French Needle and am constantly buying books and kits from her shop!!

    You are so lucky to get an intro from Jacob! Very entertaining, love the comics with the cartoon theme! I’m so glad you retained those comics from childhood.
    In your review of your last episode talk about Singer sewing machines, I remembered why I laughed about it last time! You describe Singers as having straight stitches. I have never met a sewing machine that couldn’t do a straight stitch! That comment had me in stitches! 😂
    Love your talk about vintage shops, reuse places, and vintage shopping. Always fun for me!

      Oh my gosh you got a beautiful singer for next to nothing! I am so jealous! Not that I don’t already have three singer machines, but nothing old and beautiful like that. What a find! Can’t wait to see how you like it. I think it was a Misty Purcell who bought an antique Singer and cleaned and repaired it herself watching TH-cam tutorials.Oh my gosh… Another incredible find with that sewing box! It looks like Jacob’s sewing box. Wow! You must have good karma to luck 🍀 into all these wonderful things! 😁 Congratulations on your wonderful growing collection!
      OK, I just went to eBay and bought a wooden sewing box, and it’s all your fault!! 😀 I will put mine on Instagram when I get it. I think it is smaller than yours.

    • @trixietricycle
      @trixietricycle  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I popped in a little note in the vid but the Singer works perfectly. It literally only needed the bobbin case cleared of thread and cleaned. (I was too excited telling to story to even remember to finish that part lol)
      Yes! Would love to see a photo on Instagram when it arrives!

    Reclaimed items, years ago they tore down the Senate Building in Salem and my son and I went and dug thru the bricks and have a very rudimentary brick walkway at our house...I had No clue what I was doing.

    Love your projects! You totally enabled me! I was at The Resource Exchange in Philadelphia. They sell reclaimed materials (mostly from movie sets) that would have otherwise ended up in the dump. Lo and behold they just received a Singer 201 in working condition and I just had to buy it. She is beautiful and I can’t wait to sit down and get acquainted with her! I’m calling it my birthday present.

    Wow that is so cool the Singer 201 is a score! I can totally relate to getting excited about that and having everyone else be like ... "ok..."....
    And you got free bees?! I had bees last year and something happened to them over the winter, there was a lot of honey and comb but they were gone! I live in a rural area in upstate NY.
    You've had a lucky week!!

      Free bees! I did the first hive inspection on Friday evening and they are doing great, so much so that I added another brood box. They are very sweet bees - even saw the queen. 😍

    I collect and restore vintage Singer sewing machines. I probably have 30 sewing machines (I've lost count), but the 201 (I have 4) is the only one I regularly sew on.
    The Featherweight is a very nice machine, it has its uses, but imho they are generally overpriced. People seem to fangirl and get all excited and the price goes up accordingly. I only buy if the price is reasonable (currently have two).
    eta Congrats on your find, and thank you for rescuing a vintage beauty. 👍

    Thanks for the video. Great new theme song, wow fun! Hey that g. Leger is so great on that fabric and before you even said it I was right there with you re: the lighting effect of that coral house on the stormy background... there’s an actual term for that lighting in painting but I’ve forgotten it. Looking beautiful. Thx for sharing the heartstring samplery kits - will check those out. Those little by little designs are cute. I just did “Christmas heart”... picked it up from kitten stitcher. Adore the opening theme! Congratulations on the 201 acquisition! The bees are FABULOUS! The stitching is fabulous, too. I have substituted floss colors to represent the cover photo (rather than sticking with the called for). I do think variations occur. Especially with over-dyed flosses. Finally, your “health talk” reminded my of the Tea Party of Alice in Wonderland… “clean cup, move down!” Instead: new floss, stand up! xo

    Congratulations on the 201! How exciting, that really is a spectacular find. Don’t be surprised if more unexpected lovelies show up in your life. Just like the bees, vintage sewing machines tend to gravitate to people who love them (ask me how I know). If you haven’t found it already, the ISMACs site can give you tons of information regarding your Singer and also the White. You can even find the cabinet numbers that will fit. Best of luck on your cabinet search for the White!

    • @trixietricycle
      @trixietricycle  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Lori! Thank you so much. I think ISMACs is the site that I used to look up the serial number on my machine to find the manufacture date and to confirm the model. The White 764 is identical to my Mom's sewing machine (and as such the machine I learned to sew on). I really appreciate you watching and I've just wandered over to your channel and will be watching your mini-series. (Your backdrop is beautiful!)

    If my son was younger, like preteen, he’d say you were so cool. Heck, I think you’re cool… bee keeping, maintaining a Singer 201, and so aptly naming your sewing machines…. But what tops it for me, you have Jacob singing for your floss tube and the classical thread box…. Jacob has one, but yours is fully kitted up…OMG, I also lost my mind.
    You got me laughing so hard, I always look forward to your next visit.

      It was an extraordinary three weeks, wasn't it? And wow, 500-600 hives! I love that beekeeping runs in your family. It is one of those endeavors that you never really know everything about, but people who grew up with bees seem to be the most successful at raising happy, healthy hives.

    Just paused your video to comment on my kids reaction to Disney’s Beauty & the Beast. When Gaston falls to his bloody death from the top of the castle, I was at the ready to see how my kids would react. Aged 5 & 6, they both called out unanimously, “bub-bye”. ?!?!?! I burst out laughing! I mean, are they resilient or psychopaths?!?!?!
