    No matter what Lady Edith might've connived against Lady Mary, the latter's back stabbing at the breakfast tablet was worse than any that the former did.

      You did notice that Mary tried to put on a pleasant face and it was Edith who attacked her, saying Mary had lost her man. I don't blame Mary at all. Edith was wrong to accept marriage without being honest about Marigold. It's typical of Edith not to accept responsibility but to blame Mary.

    • @avak1968
      @avak1968 14 วันที่ผ่านมา +2

      How was it worse? The letter Edith wrote was calculated to ruin Mary's life. What Mary did at the breakfast table was calculated to ruin Edith's. Same thing--except that Edith was an idiot for withholding the fact that she was a single mother from her fiancé.

      @@avak1968yeah that was selfish of her, ngl. It surprised me that she didn't want to tell her fiancé. Also, that letter was going to ruin the entire family, not just Mary

    They all needed therapy, no doubt. But Edith’s character arc missed any kind of redemption for all her horrible actions, not an apology, not to anyone. From ruining Mary’s reputation in season 1 to literally feeling entitled to ruin the lives of Drews, and all the snobbish things she did and said. Mary can be cruel but she owned her mistakes and apologised to people she wronged.

    If Mary has no fans I’m dead
    Edith deserved everything she got for writing the Turkish embassy. That was truly unforgivable. I don’t even feel bad for her about Marigold because it was absolutely insane of her to accept Bertie’s proposal without telling him. Even Cora admits that she was considering telling him herself at this point.
    Anyway, team Mary until I die ❤️

      what? While i am a fan of lady Mary, i really don't think she was right to spoil Edith's life like that....Edith wrote a letter to the Turkish embassy, ok. but Mary ruined her wedding. after which she had to weddings called off. does Mary have absolutely no pity? Mary ruined Edith's proposal only because she couldn't stand being subordinate to her sister whom she bullied her entire life. how is that ever justified?

    What's amazing is watching the clips out of context, it always seemed like Mary was the great villain, and Edith the poor victim. But with context, it's the other way around, Edith is the one that really enlarged their rivalry until well, if you know, you know.

      @amarissanders1003 • Watch again. It's usually Edith who starts it.
      Don't forget Edith's own lack of morals. Edith tried to seduce the farmer she was driving for during the war. Edith had an affair with Michael Gregson even though she knew he was married.
      After getting the Drews to take Marigold, Edith took her back. The Drews were forced to leave their multigenerational tenancy.
      Edith is no Saint by any means.

    This video shows that people can change for better, Edith is jelous at first, but she become better person, instead of Mary, who still continue being a bad person most of the time With her sister.

    • @yvonnetomenga5726
      @yvonnetomenga5726 หลายเดือนก่อน +8

      @eliglez • Edith is no Saint. She tries to ruin Mary's life by spreading the gossip about Pamuk.
      In the dining room, she attacks Mary first, saying she's happy, but Mary has lost her man.
      Then, in the final scene, Edith attacks Mary when she just could have kept her mouth shut.
      In each case, Mary responds but she is not the one that attacks first. But when attacked, Mary is ruthless. Makes you wonder why Edith kept attacking her first.
      This video doesn't even include Efith trying to seduce the farmer while she was driving for him during the war.
      Edit also had an affair with a married man (Gregson). When she became pregnant, she arranged for the Drews to take the child, then took the child back, forcing the Drews to leave their generations long tenancy.
      No, Edith is no saint.

    The thumbnail of this video is very misleading. You sidestepped a perfect opportunity to showcase the journey between Lady Mary and Lady Edith. I for one find their reconciliation at the end of the series and in the movies, a wholesome change of pace. Lady Sybil would definitely approve. One of my favorite scenes between these two, is at the beginning of season 4, when Mary is still mourning Matthew's death. The two of them meet on the stairs. Edith is reading a Valentine from Michael Gregson, when Mary asks what's that, Edith says nothing. A few seconds later Mary realizes it's St Valentine's Day. Edith says she's going up to London, Mary remarks in a dull tone, "have a lovely time." That brief moment shows how Edith knew if Mary discovered her happy moment, her sister Mary would try to ruin it. In contrast, Mary is still too filled with grief and heartache to strike back in her usual fashion.

    I don't understand when people say Edith ruined Mary's reputation, Mary ruined her own reputation by doing what she did with Pamuk. In fact, if there's someone to blame besides her It is Pamuk. Anyway she was doomed when Thomas wrote to his friend in London, c'mon the guy was the one who led Pamuk to her room.

      By that token, Edith ruined her own reputation by getting knocked up. But writing the letter is a vicious act entirely apart from Mary's failure to scream and call for help when the Turk entered her bedroom unbidden.

    I absolutely adore Mary but literally only because of the actress. Her personality is awful, the bad parts far outweigh the good ones.
    Edith is always trying to get back at Mary for something. Get BACK. I've never seen her be the instigator for something unless she's teying to avenge herself. Fantastic actress as well, and so gorgeous too, idk how they were trying to convince us shes uglier than Mary when they put her in all these fabulous outfits
