I learned how to clean a toilet properly because of you 8 years ago and think about it every time I clean my bathroom! xoxo
Me too!! Thank God for Melissa!!
Omg, Same!
In your personal bathroom ..you put toliet paper on the seat?
Same!
@@therock1232100 😳 I know who do that 🤣
Melisa isn’t simply giving cleaning tips. She’s not cleaning, she’s detailing. I love it. I appreciate her outstanding communication skills and am impressed that in her preambles to instructions she includes mise en place for the procedure she is about to teach in each vid.
I like the trick of letting the toilet bowl brush dry between the rim and the seat. Good tip! I’ve always just put the brush back into its holder. Not any more! 😊
I love that too!
My hubby just installed a new toilet and the whole toilet seat comes off when you squeeze two tabs. I take it off and clean it in the utility sink. It’s very convenient and you can get into the crevices with ease.
I carry disposable toilet seat covers for public toilets. I brought a potty chair along in the car when my kids were little and kept it in a trash bag after cleaning it between uses. It was a lit of peace of mind.
The small potty chair is actually a good idea lol never would have done this one.
Melissa, could you address cleaning a bidet attachment? Many of us have those now and am not sure i am doing enough to keep it clean!
Love cleaning vlogs. My Dad was very OCD and I probably have that in my genes. I find you Melissa refreshing and educating on cleaning. Thank you 😊 Joan
Blacklights are nice to have for many other detection use. For example when traveling to check the cleanliness of hotel bathrooms, checking for pets waste on carpets, etc.
I did the blacklight to my walls and wanted to move. 😂
@@quotechew 😆 💦 could have been art on the walls.
@@thinkingimpaired5663 🤢🤣
little toilet cleaning ASMR, it was both hilarious and educational at the same time. I like watching new year versions of how to clean the toilet. You guys have that kinda magic that still manages to make it better year after year even tho its still a quick simple guide on how to do it right. Thanks!
To answer the question at the end, I used to toilet paper the seats at public bathrooms. Now, I purchase disposable seat covers in bulk from Amazon and make sure to keep them in my bag/purse. I mainly started using them after I had my daughter and was potty training her while traveling. The TP method wasn’t working well bc they kept sliding off and most public restrooms on the road aren’t always equipped with disposable covers so I started bringing my own.

Great video! I especially loved the note on wearing gloves. So true! I used to not wear gloves and would take soooo long cleaning the toilet. Then I began wearing gloves thanks to your videos, and I became so much faster! I hadn't realized how much the ick factor was slowing me down. I was also more wasteful because I didn't want the gross side of paper towels to touch my hands, so I wouldn't utilize every side of the sheets. Never again will I clean toilets without gloves now 👍
I have found the gloves help with cleaning anything! i have one pair for the bathroom, one for dishes, and another for everything else. dusting, wiping the counters, taking out the trash. just makes me feel so much more comfy and disconnected with the grossness when i have the gloves on
It’s also a lifesaver for your fingernails! I never had long, strong, beautiful natural nails until I started using gloves for cleaning and dishwashing - it’s crucial to minimize extended contact with water and chemicals!
THIS is what I want! I want to be taught as if I’m a know-nothing imbecile. Because, when it comes to cleaning, I know NOTHING! Thank you!
This is your best toilet cleaning tutorial ever … super detailed 😊
Melissa, years ago u taught me how to dry the toilet brush like that! Love that little tip!
Tfs!
Great knowledge. Thanks for sharing.
I close the lid when I wipe the bottom of the toilet, don't want to breathe in those chemicals from inside the bowl. 👍
The Japanese believe the cleaning your toilet daily gives you good luck and helps with your prosperity!
Thank you so much Melissa! Have a wonderful weekend!!
I wipe the seat off and raw dog it. I have too many years in public health. You're not going to get anything off a toilet seat... If The bathroom has a lot of toilets. I will go to one that looks cleaner. Actually studies have shown that the middle toilets are the most heavily used so I don't use that. I try to use the handicapped one or more close to the handicapped away from the door statistically that one is better.
Seriously!😂
Thank you for sharing that! Happy Sunday Nancy 😄
Steam clean 😊
I clean mine daily. Less than 1 minute bc I do it so often
Handicapped are the most used..everyone goes for them.
I would love a video about how often to clean areas in your home, toilet, kitchen bathroom etc. Like a monthly or half year Schedule
Thank you for another great video. I think everyone (I know I do) periodically needs a refresher on the best/fastest way to clean areas in our home. A while back, I purchased the enzyme cleaner that you recommended. BEST purchase I've ever made. I live with 3 males and ladies we all know what that means - LOL. The Biokleen Bac-Out Stain and Odor Eliminator is the best!!! I'll NEVER be without it
I always use the Maker's way since I learn it from your first video about. Pass to my family, my mother love it too, and I teach even to my boys and girls scouts how to properly easy clean a toilet! Thank you for teach this stuff. 😘
Happy Sunday Everyone!!! What are you doing today?
Working 😅
Watching videos of my favorite cleaning expert! (I might take a nap too.😊)
Cleaning the toilet, apparently!
I did a deep clean of our primary bathroom this weekend using a playlist I put together of your videos! Thanks!
There are many videos of this but I always like and trust your opinion
Very informative because of the complete explanation why All Purpose Cleaner, then the toilet bowl cleaner each need time to act before wiping away, and how two cleaners together can create toxic gases if ammonia or bleach is an ingredient.
Great video!! Thank you for posting the links for the tools!
always a wild and pleasant surprise whenever Melissa *actually* uses gloves while cleaning. should happen in more vids tbh
I like these longer cleaning videos! A lot of for example tiktok videos are short and doesn’t show every stroke
Melissa, occasionally the drawstring of your hoodie makes contact with the toilet--sometimes with toilet surfaces that have just been sprayed with cleaner. I suggest that you not wear a hoodie having a drawstring or that you tuck the drawstring into the garment so that it does not dangle and risk contact with dirty surfaces. That said, your video was very helpful. Thanks! Cheers,
Generally, I find your videos helpful. Lots of great ideas. For example, reusing toothbrushes for cleaning fits my philosophy of reusing and it works. I use a pipe cleaner to go under the rim of the toilet. It was amazing what was there. I also used a brush that cleans tiles to go further down the toilet again shocked at what was there. Also after I have cleaned my toilet I give another squirt of toilet cleaner in the bowel and leave it overnight
That was excellent. I needed some reminders. I don't cover the seat at home, but disinfect the seat after I've had guests.
How do you then clean the little scrubbing brush and the gloves so they don’t fester?
Was also wondering this the whole time 😂
I would clean the scrubbing brush with soap while gloves are still on then "wash" my hands while gloves are still on
Thank you! This was extremely useful!!
I watched this video and cleaned my toilets immediately! Very good motivation and very good tips
This was helpful information. Thanks.
I always carry Lysol wipes in my purse and wipe off the seat before sitting on a public toilet. Thank you for teaching a basic video on how to clean a potty.
[sorry for bad english] I will add from myself: in your video, you hold the handle of the brush vertically, you can't get under the rim with such a brush. But you can hold the handle almost horizontally when cleaning under the rim, then the brush will get deeper under the rim.
As a dude, if I have to use a public toilet and not just a urinal, I'll usually squat slightly and hover without ever touching the toilet!
That's what I usually do. And when I get home, I take a shower.
Thank you Melissa.
Thank you for the enzyme cleaner link-I had no idea which of the millions to choose.
I use that brand and it's wonderful.
Thank you Melissa ❤
Thsnk you for this video!
Essential information for everyone!
Thanks for watching!!
at public restrooms, I've been taught that the toilet rim is actually cleaner than you think. it's meant to make bacteria not stick to it when you sit down in the first place and papering it up can actually make it worse since there is bacteria on the paper that actually sticks and ends up on you. so what I do is that if I see there is any kind of liquid on the rim, I take a bunch of toilet paper and just wipe that area clean, then sit down.
I never could get the toilet paper to stay around the rim, so I simply wipe it down with toilet paper before using and hope for the best 😂. I do this even if it looks ok because I’ve learned the hard way.
I do the same thing!! 😊 Word for word, same! Lol
i keep a little baggie of disposable gloves and a mini packet of cleaning wipes in my purse to wipe down public toilets before i use them
@@SarahKeirano That’s a bit excessive don’t you think? Lol Unless you’re doing all that just to avoid washing your hands. 😳
@@zaraheart i mean it takes 2 seconds and makes using a public toilet way more pleasant. just put a glove on, wipe the seat and maybe the rim and you're done.
I love your outfit ❤ thx for the toilet 🚽 cleaning routine Melissa ❤
Thank you for this video
Thank you for watching it!
I actually carry disinfectant wipes in my purse, so when I need to use a public bathroom I can clean the seat. I don't feel that tp is going to be good enough. Because I use transportation, I wash my hands before and after using a public bathroom. At home, I need to clean my bathroom every night before bed. I'm somewhat a germaphobe but hey, I rarely get sick😊
Regarding g your question on using publicly restrooms: I either use a seat cover or if there are none have hand sanitizer in my purse, I use that and toilet paper to wipe the seat.
Thank you 😊
gloves are a must for all types of cleaning, toilet cleaning, bathroom cleaning, kitchen cleaning and dishwashing
For public restrooms, I toilet paper the heck out of it! 😂 My mom did for me too. She even would just hold me over the toilet when I was little enough so I wouldnt touch anything 🤣
I "quilt" the toilet seat before even thinking of sitting down.
The information is amazing and helpful, but also, the purple sweatsuit is super cute 🙂💜
I love her outfit! Thank you for the video.
Wait and i love how she do it!
Thank you
Great video. Do some of that, but you taught me more.
My biggest question is, how do you clean the toilet brush? Look forward to hearing back from you.
Payty
I put some toilet bowl cleaner w bleach into the holder and set the brush down into it like that.
But as far as cleaning the brush, I don't. Instead, I replace it every few months.
You can just spray with vinegar .
My mom always did the folded TP in public restrooms, but I don't do it anymore because the biggest germ carriers on the body are your hands. However, I try to avoid public restrooms as much as possible.
Very good stuff,😊
Best tip I got from you is to let the brush dry by suspending it. In public I use toilet paper on the seat and seat more to the front
A pumice stone and an exam mirror comes in handy for detecting and cleaning the deposits under the rim where the water comes out of.
Re-watched. Again, thank you😊
oh my god, i learned so much
I love how this demo is with a spotless toilet 🚽 lol 😂 great tips tho ! 😅
Awesome!
Love this! Do you have any tricks for cleaning the back of the toilet and the floor behind the toilet without hugging the toilet? I hate that part so much!!!
I've used your homemade toilet bowl cleaner for years and still love it.
what do you put on it?
Great tips! Thank you. Not cleaning related but where did you purchase your outfit??? I love it!
Time to practice what I just learned😉
Question? Do you use the carpet enzyme in the bathroom🤔
Is using a Clorox wipe ok too? I've done the method you showed, but for some reason just like using a clorox wipe more.
Should I make the homemade all purpose cleaner as I’m cleaning so it’s fresh and new? Or is it ok to keep it in a spray bottle for next uses
As you did, I learned the tp thing for public restrooms and always do that
In public bathrooms:
For #1, I squat in the air and don’t touch the toilet.
For #2, I line the seat with toilet paper.
Thank you for your video!
I squat in the air and don’t touch the toilet for #1 and #2 been doing this for over 10-15yrs now
@@Peridot07damn, do you levitate too? I've heard it's dirty so don't wanna make my feet dirty
Very interesting watching someone clean a clean toilet. 😂
Because of bad knees I have to line with toilet paper
I make enzyme spray by crushing a dishwasher tab and putting it in a spray bottle with hot water to dissolve. A dishwasher tab doesn't cost much, has enzymes, and I moved to Australia and can't find the cleaning products I'm used to here.
I’m curious about what enzyme cleaner you use. I clean houses for elderly clientele and I don’t like using strong scents or chemical laden cleaners.
Thank you for all your great videos
Biokleen
Answer to question at the end. Toilet paper or the liners provided usually ~ depends on how much I’ve had to drink tho😂 if it’s beach bar party time ( these are rare occasions, but I live near the beach) then I do the “squat “😅 TMI.
💖💖💖 This channel !!!
After watching this video I will be breaking down large packages of chicken and putting them into freezer bags. I live alone so I put enough in each bag for a couple different dishes to eat for a day or two. Then I will be cleaning up my kitchen to make sure I disinfect everything because of my previous task. Then laundry. Then I have some clocks to reset because we turned them back one hour at 2am. I am going to go over my tile floors with a microfiber cloth. I think that’s enough for today. Thanks for the video.😊
Omy this was fun im gona go clean my toliet
I carry disinfecting wipes with me and use them to wipe the seat and surrounding toilet surface. I fold the side I used in, wipe the lid of the sanitary product disposal bin, fold again, and drop it into the bin. At that point the toilet seat is dry and ready.
I want to see a close-up of that cute print on the wall over the commode. 😊 👍🏻
Cute crocs!
I made the toilet bowl cleaner from your "recipe" book. I used an empty Method toilet bowl cleaner bottle, so thick plastic. I kept it under my bathroom sink. A few days later I noticed the mat under the sink had the cleaner all over it and the bottle was slightly bowed as if the contents had expanded and came out of the top. I'm glad I had the cabinet protector under the sink to catch it. Any reason why it would do that? I also noticed that when I went to use the cleaner a 2nd time that the contents were all white and not like they originally were when I made it and used it the first time
Thank you! Great video. I understand the premise of saturating and letting the multi-purpose cleaner sit. But you drenched the bowl, and that will drip! Would you still do that if the toilet bowl is sitting on hardwood floors?!
I clean my toilet every week, so I don’t need to scrub it. A few paper towels and a quick brush around the inside bowl and voilà…I have a clean toilet 🚽 I learned this from you of course. I used to use reusable microfiber cloths to clean my toilet 🚽 for years until watching your videos. It makes sense to use something you toss in the trash because I never felt comfortable placing those rags in my washing machine. Sometimes I’d be so disgusted I’d take them to the laundromat instead. 🥹🙃🙂 👩🏽. I have learned so much from watching your videos. I actually like cleaning my toilet 🚽 now. 😌🙂😃 💛
What kind of toilet bowl cleaner do you use
@@Peridot07 I use Bar Keepers Friend. And then I drop 10 drops of lemon essential oil in it so it’ll smell clean. Sometimes I use orange essential oil.
@@vienicestyles thank you😃
@@Peridot07 my pleasure! 😇
Any tips on how to clean a bidet? Things to do and to avoid? I have a Toto bidet. Not sure how to clean it properly (even if it comes with a self cleaning option... Still want to manual clean it) thanks!
The enzyme link takes you too a carpet version. Is this the one you use or should it be the bathroom one?
What toilet bowl cleaner did you use?
I have a small Lysol spray in my purse and I spray down the seat and then wipe it with the paper towels if that's furnished in that bathroom if not I use the toilet paper to scrub the seat
When traveling we carry disinfectant wipes and toilet seat covers. When not traveling, it definitely toilet paper lining or squatting. Take goodness for strong thigh muscles. :)
Apparently I haven’t been using enough toilet bowl cleaner. 😮 QUESTION: is toilet bowl cleaner necessary or can you use an all purpose cleaner?
I wonder too bc I surely don’t want to purchase a separate toilet bowl cleaner
I wouldn't use that much unless the toilet bowl hasn't been cleaned in a while and or there is hard water/mildew/crud. But definitely apply it under and around the rim. About an oz. Or two should be enough.
Do you know how to get rid of iron stains? We have a well and before the water treatment system was installed, the water turned the toilets orange. I have gotten rid of most but not all the stains with iron off. Thanks,
Someone earlier mentioned Iron Out. Maybe a pumice stone made for toilets
Thank you so much for the video! I use TP when I have to use a public toilet.
Please forgive my changing the topic but I just discovered this channel and have a ( for me) a BURNING question. Is there a reasonably easy way to clean electric baseboards? There are so many videos but as I looked I didn't see that covered. I find them daunting they seem to attract dirt INSIDE them.
Clorox wipes works great
Is there any particular reason to clean the seat first then the bowl ? I do the bowl then the seat ,does it matter?
I haven’t watched the video, but laughed as it came across my screen. Amen sister….
So many public toilets now come with toilet seat “liners” that I don’t really worry too much about going. That said, my mother taught me to squat over public toilets to pee. That worked for most of my life; however, now that I’ve reached my golden years (77), I can no longer manage that. 😢
Is a disinfectant cleaner the same as an antibacterial cleaner ?
What about the tank? Do you have a process for cleaning the inside of the tank.
For the nooks on high end toilets and facets. WORK STUFF Detailing Brush - Albino (Chemical Resistant) (24mm). The best brush. Non scratching brush designed for high end materials.
Please address the it rings in bowl - what product to use??
