Okay, funny story... I heard way too many good things about this book, and I am a sucker for romantic books and academia, so I gave in, but I got it from my library today because I like to read before buying, so I buy books I love. Anyway, I got it with another book which was on top of my pick-up order, and the conversation was not awkward, and I was happy to get the books. Then I had the great idea to mention how I was excited about them after hearing great things while the man checking out my books finished. (this book is now on top, of course.) Then he looked down to see what I got to continue the conversation, and low and behold, the cover of TLH was the first and only thing he saw. He immediately looked up and around, feeling awkward, and immediately stopped talking. He just gently slid the books over to me and could hardly say, "enjoy." I suddenly felt so awkward and just said, "thanks," and left. It's been an interesting day. Yes, we know each other well; we often see each other with my weekly trips to the library and book discussions and suggestions.

And I just finished 'it starts with us', I loved it! , Colleen Hoover has improved alot since then and so please don't hate her for her past self and writing style, as you know trying is what makes improvement. I haven’t read many books that would fit your parents expectations but I could give you some The outsiders-no romance but kinda violent The things we leave unfinished-a few spicy scenes and a bit of swearing My policeman-lots of romance like one spicy scene and a bit of swearing Harry Potter-very little romance no spice and only one swear in the last book Percy Jackson/Hero’s of Olympus/The Kane Chronicles/Magnus chase and the gods of Asgard/trials of Apollo- lots of romance no spice no swearing but all of these books have a lot of humor and I love them so much
There is another version of the cover more decent and for me I've read it on my phone and my opinion it was overhyped by tik tok for me it was cringe but nevertheless it wasn't that bad I just expected too much from what people where talking
