I picked up the tech case mini and really liked the sling capability. I think its a bit thin for me, so I gave that to a friend and am getting the medium wandrd tech bag. But they did a revision to this to make it more similar to the mini (less loud zipper pulls, a handle on back), it also has one less divider inside which I like more. I will pick this new revision p, whenever they release a xpac grey or coyote of this one. Alpaka does a a good job with these smallish slings/pouches, they just have a million diff kinds so you gotta scrutinize the size and features.

Absolutely loved this review. Been looking at so many bags & just hadn't found the right one - Bellboy is a high contender but love that the Alpaca has a strap. Now I might have to get one of each...one for my desk & one to travel! Decisions decisions. But I do love that orange inside. Matches my Keychron keyboard case. Great job. Super helpful :)

Feelin it - best tech /sling to me right now is the MOMENT sling - i actually picked up the REI tech sling which is really good as well - that blood orange fabric and accordian expandability is noice!!

I used your link and bought the mini version, the perfect size. Love the orange interior and outer xpac (?) material. I wish it had better zipper pulls, because it’s a little hard to unzip, but overall I love it. Thanks for the great review!

Hey, great review. One thing I've been wondering is how well would this pouch fit a pair of headphones alongside other things. Say something like the Sony MX3 or Bose QC35 size headphones - any chance you can check it out?

It’s not a deal breaker for me but not ideal either

I recently bought the peak design tech pouch, which also has shoulder strap attachment points. But I wish I waited and got this instead. Big fan of the xpac material and the orange lining.
Yea IMO this is better than the Peak Design. Super impressive what the Alpaka team pulled off here

Attach a strap, and it’s quite similar to this.
Might get this if my peak design got damaged or something.
Very tempting. Seems better than the codeofbell X pod I got last year (not very practical and not very comfortable).
How do you feel about using it as an everyday pouch instead of a tech pouch?
And is the hand string useful, VS bareback or using a hero clip?
Hey dude! I think it’s good as a edc tech pouch but it’s not going to fit as comfortably as a sling would. As for the carrying options it depends how you carry it. If you walk around the city all day then I don’t think any of the options are ideal, but if you are commuting a bit then I think the hero clip works pretty well.
Good review as always. Love me my AER Day Sling X-Pac from which I can easily hang my AER Slim Tech X-PAC, both in that sweet "blood orange" ....
the Aer color is a bit more of a neon orange, compared to this blood-orange, but I'm just splitting hairs - they are both awesome and functional

Just got mine - was worried it was going to be too big compared to Aer slim pouch - but it’s not as big as I feared.
I’ll be removing the noisy zips and replace with PSI zipper pulls.
The straps give it the edge over my Aer slim pouch - so a thumbs up from me 👍🏻

I have the wandrd tech pouch, and I never liked how it has just a black interior - makes it difficult to properly see everything.
The Alpaka smashes it here. The interior is both gorgeous to look at and user-friendly. Definitely a great contender, just too big for my liking.
Agreed, it's too big for me as well. I'd need a slimmed down version to switch from my Aer Slim Pouch

I know, cause like you, it’s one of my favourite interiors on any of these style bags. My solution was to just get it in a favourite style edc and be out of the way in future considerations. 😅

Will you be doing a review on the Max version? I almost decided on this pouch, but when I saw the max, I wavered. Hard to justify its price though. Would love to hear your thoughts. I think they changed the zippers too! Less jingly perhaps? 😉

Seems like a cool hybrid between the Peak Design Tech Pouch and the Aer Slim Pouch (which I'm still super happy with)!

How do you compare Alpaka to Aer in terms of design, materials, brand, etc? I’m looking to a sling and I’m torn between the brands.
I’ve only reviewed this one Alpaka product, but I was really impressed by it. I can’t speak for the brand as a whole, but I can say I’ve heard great things. They use awesome materials and certainly know what they are doing

Maglockz are pretty much a GIVEN with most of Alpaka’s lineup. I LOVE them; so far; more than Fidlocks.

So I’m late to this case but have larger ALPAKA slings. Did the early versions not have room for the iPad minis in the back slot, or the hidden charging cable slot in the front pocket? Strange that these 8 month old videos don’t pout this out.

TBH, I backed the alpaca tech pouch, but those zippers… they’re still my reason why I would stop my backing. 😖 I really hate those zippers.
My alternative would be a Wandrd tech pouch.
WANDRD tech pouches are legit! And yea, those zips aren't quite a deal-breaker for me, but they aren't my fav lol
@@Nomads.Nation I know, I am very picky about zippers, but I made my experiences and started to detest low quality zippers like crazy. Other backers also said now, that they dislike them and Alpaka said they will do something about it.

Funny you ask lol. So on the Facebook ad I commented that to bad it didn’t fit the iPad mini. I based my comment on the measurements. They responded and thanked me for pointing it out because they had just received the iPad mini and indeed it does fit! Even with a case. So they were updating their advertising and correcting the size. I was hoping for a nice discount but alas I’ll have to pay full price hahahaha jk. Alpaka puts out great products and I can’t wait to get my hands on this one.

pro tip - although the HLT doesn't officially bear the title of 'tech pouch', it is a far superior 'tech pouch' or 'sling' or 'purse' or whatever you need to call it to maintain your 'masculinity'. i recently grabbed the fidlock V buckle so my HLT can be carried via shoulder or waste.

You didn’t put the sling on it once in the whole video or show how functional it was while wearing it as a sling? Can you update? I’m interested but feel like the sling functionality might be a downer but maybe you could prove me wrong

I notice you put a disclaimer saying it's now called the "Tech Case" and I've found out why. I put up an eBay listing to sell a case I wasn't using and I titled it "[Brand] Tech Pouch [Features]" and it later got removed, because apparently Peak Design reported it, because apparently Peak Design has a trademark on the words "tech pouch"! So other brands aren't allowed to use the words "tech pouch" anymore, and even individual people aren't allowed to describe something as a "tech pouch" in their eBay listings. I didn't think Peak Design was that kind of company.
The funny thing is part of the reason I was selling that tech pouch I had was to put towards Peak Design's one, but now I'm reconsidering and looking at other brands. I don't think I want to support a brand which wants to remove people's eBay listings for using 2 generic everyday words; I'm not some big business trying to copy their products and the one I listed was nothing like their one.
I feel like you know a lot about bag companies so maybe you already knew about this? Wonder whether Peak Design has been suing companies for calling their products a "tech pouch"? I feel like this isn't a good thing for the industry.
Very interesting. I agree that it’s a bit aggressive for PD to trademark that but it’s a business move and if they got the trademark good for them (imo)

Wish they considered different colorways then just grey, camouflage and black. I would prefer a blue or something like the sage green of the peak designs. As a women, I would definitely not be interested in the camouflage. So they seem to be tailoring more to the male aesthetic, forgetting there are female nerds out there that also love tech pouches. I too love the inner color, just want more colors for the shell.

Eh. I see the similarities, but there are at least 5 companies selling stitch for stitch identical cheaper copies of the peak design tech pouch on Amazon, so my guess is this isn't even on their radar.
I think it drew some inspiration from PD for sure but is unique enough in its own way as well.
They’re definitely legit. They’ve had 5 successful Kickstarters, I believe. I actually have 5 of their bags (I think I might have a problem🤦🏾♂️)
