Aaron, you produce the best reviews on TH-cam. Some of my other favorite channels are getting more vague and generic, while you are very detailed. Especially useful are comparisons and alternatives. Thank you!
Alpaka usually does a nice job with the bag itself, but there are always little things about their straps which I wish were different. I like padding on straps for bigger bags, but don’t really like when it’s not floating and stuck in the middle. It forces you to wear the bag lower almost messenger style, like you show here, if you want to keep the padding on your shoulder. If you want to wear it higher on the chest or back you’d ideally want to get that padding very close to one side, like a chrome Kadet type sling strap or the like. Still with the looks and slim but tall design of the bag, it’s sorta like a small briefcase, so the lower hanging style works well enough.
That can be solved by having adjustment bubbles on both sides of the shoulder pad (like the PD slings have, for example); that way you can adjust from either side in order to get the pad in just the right position for you. I prefer that to a floating shoulder pad, cause those tend to slide out of position and you have to keep putting them back in the right place.
@Nomads.Nation man trying to find a fairly good sling and popped up bellroys venture and this alpaka one (or the mini). Is bellroy more comfortable in general? I like bellroys look a bit more though.
I LOVE my Go Sling. I bought the nylon one and the xpac. Gave the nylon to my younger daughter (she loves it ). I use mine as a sling and as a bigger tech pack for my 21L Goruck
I'm always looking for the smallest possible sling that can still fit all my EDC and I recently got the Go Sling Nano. I'm quite impressed that it fits my iPhone, wallet, AirPods Pro, 5000mAh Anker power bank, USB cable, 45W wall charger, Peak Design packable tote, pack of cigarettes, ROAV foldable sunglasses, OrbitKey organiser with 6 keys, car keyfob and a pen. One thing I'd change on the Nano is the magnetic clip for the key leash - find it very bulky and takes up too much space itself in that tiny front pocket; it's fine on a larger sling, but the Nano needed something more minimal. I got it in Xpac, so less hair/lint stickiness, more weather resitance. Plus orange interior! And I don't really care about the hardware brand, but in Alpaka's case I really like the Maglockz slider because it can only be opened by sliding, has a plastic clip that prevents it from being pulled apart and that makes it safer/harder for a thief to just pull it open and off your body when wearing it on your back. The FidLock on the Mini is way too easy to just grab and run off. I know FidLock also offers a sliding clasp (it's available on the TomToc custom Xpac version, for example) but I never saw one in person, so I don't know if can also be pulled apart or only slid open like the Maglockz.
I wonder if there is any sling bag that fits an iPad Pro 12.9“ with Magic Keyboard. I use a bagpack for my 16“ MacBook but like me some good non-vertical slings when commuting lighter. Can you recommend something, Aaron?
@@MarcelReschke Aer makes a huge-ass sling - Tech Sling 3. But... if it fits a 13" device, you can't really call that a sling anymore IMO. You should be looking at messenger bags, for a wider selection/choice and somewhat similar carry style.
I’ve been on the hunt for months and months for the right sling. I’m on the go quite a bit for work and bring my iPad Pro with me. I didn’t quite want to spend Bellroy money, and nothing else felt right. This video cemented my decision (the discount code didn’t hurt either). When I get it in the mail I’ll try to update this. Cowabunga.! Great shoulder strap mate, that would be perfect for our AR, Tripods & Javelin. A Sling without a strap is a pouch so it's limitless to what we can use it for, accessories for the AR maybe, Lenses & Cams to go with the Tripod or Connections for the Javelin. A fun vid deserves a fun feedback. Rock on mate.
The thing I am most interested when viewing a sling review is the tablet size it can fit, and not only the Apple ones, but the Samsung ones as well. I have yet to find a decent sling that would fit my Samsung Galaxy Tab S9+. You can easily get a feel about what a sling can fit other than the size tablet it can fit. This one might just do the trick.
Unfortunately not, the bag came 3 days ago. You could maybe squeeze it in the main compartement without a case, but it would be pointless. The only sling that fits the s9+ that I own is the Tomtoc explorer medium 7l. Snug fit but good enough. For now I have yet to find a better sling.

At the moment, I'm using the Chrome Kadet as it can hold the steam deck and tablet but it's v tight so wanted something new. Anyway thanks again and I'll wait for the bagging world to deliver
No :( I bought it to lug around a smaller Lenovo Duet 3 (10.16 x 6.48 x 0.31 inches ) and it just barely did NOT fit. The larger S9+ tab (11.24 x 7.30 x 0.22 in) won't fit. I liked the bag construction so much though that I bought some more alpaka stuff just on that basis.
Great video! I just got my x-pac version in the mail today, and I'm looking it so far. Tried a few loadouts. Super excited to bring it out in to the wild!
Just got the Xpac one as well in black. Love everything about the bag itself. The strap is a disappointment and has me wondering if I should return. Though I am in Canada and returns go back to Australia (might be prohibitvely expensive to ship). I am playing around with adjusting it to get it in a position that is comfortable on the strap without having one end dangle too much.
@@MHS927 The strap didn't seem too bad, but I'll have to see how it does in the real world! I did a color exchange last year for my modular sling and they covered the shipping fee for me, so if you do end up wanting to return, I think it's worth reaching out and confirming what options you have. Good luck!
As for the strap I screen shouted some of the alpaka video for the sling. The non X-Pac video. And it seems they rolled up one side of the strap and secured it down with the strap keeper elastic. When I do this it makes a big difference! Overall bag is perfect for my needs. It's a bit bigger but allows water bottle iPad phone earbuds charger etc.
Nice sling, it reminds me of the Tomtoc 11 inch sling, which I use every single day. Fits my 11 inch tablet and everything else I need. Highly recommend it at its price point.
I did modify the tomtoc by taking off the shoulder strap padding, because it seems unnecessary for the size of the bag. Something I don't like about this bag either. It was easy to cut off and wasn't attached to the strap itself
@@MHS927 the padding for the strap is not attached so it slides up and down freely. I just cut the padding length wise to remove it, since its sewn around like a cylinder covering the strap
@@reeks303 I actually cut the padding off of this Go Sling strap lol. I mean its still intact. I just cut where the threads were sewn (only like 3 places) and not one visible hole on the strap! I use that strap pad with my tech case strap. The strap pad now works like most, to where it floats freely around the strap. I;m using the strap padding from my tomtoc duffle bag with my Go Sling now! The original strap was flawed in multiple ways in my opinion. The biggest for me, is how the badding doesnt extend out far enough underneath the Maglockzzzz buckle. (not sure why eithger?) However the tomtoc pad on the Go sling, has pushed this thing up to the top of the list on my current favorite slings! I wear it on my chest, and its so comfortable now that it literally feels like getting a big ass hug all day long! LOL
Received bag today and quality overall is excellent. 11” iPad fits in either the dedicated pocket or just in center but its tight and there is no bottom padding if you put down the bag in vertical position. The magz lock works well and is comfortable however, if you weight the bag down a bit which the iPad does, it is difficult to cinch the strap to pull tight to body. I design of the strap puts the adjustment on the bottom which is connected to bag which pulls down when you are trying to cinch up. Design flaw in my opinion.
I got one during christmas last year at a really good price of rm240(50usd).. im totally satisfied with it…its really compact for a bag that can fit an ipad pro 11 and u can still fit a small water bottle…
I have customized my own bags with fidlocks before and the smaller lift and click version on the smaller bag lasts about 6 months before it breaks off of the smaller bag plastic angled hinges. The large click version fidlock like the one on the larger bag lasts forever! That being said, they don’t make a version of it for straps that wide. Just some healthy buckle lore for the day!
How much of a hair and lint magnet is the axoflux fabric do? And which one you prefer over the XPac fabric? Currently wavering over the Go Sling or Tomtoc UrbanEX B-11 since i live in Indonesia, so pretty much monsoon season all year round. I love how much detail you put in your review🔥
I just bought this. I love it. The strap is a good idea. I sling my bag on my left. The detachable sling allows me to swap around the lock location.. So the Now i wanna get the magnetic stabilizer strap.. i hope it will help when i ride my motorcycle...
May I ask how tall you are? How do you get strap configured to sit right with padding on your shoulder and bag not hanging too low without crazy extra strap dangle on the non buckle side?
Thanks for another comprehensive review! One question; do you think the maglockz on this bag is easy to finesse by pickpockets/purse snatchers when worn crossbody on the side or back?
My pleasure! I’m not an expert on this so please DYOR but in my opinion yea it probably makes you slightly more of a target, but also if a thief is serious enough to rip a bag from your body I don’t think a different type of buckle will deter them
Aaron just an idea but I would love a sling that can comfortably fit a iPad Pro with Magic Keyboard case, charger, plus a dedicated sunglasses pouch. Kind of like the Bellroy 10/9L but I don’t need those camera dividers any ideas?
Fidlock all the way! But that being said the straps tend to come loose with the v-fidlock just with regular slinging action. Looking to give cofb xpod 2 a shot. Would be upgrading from my modern wayfarer sling for minimal carry with the option to potentially carry a small water bottle.
@@Nomads.Nation That would be nice. I actually still watch your videos even of products I already own. Goruck coverage would be fantastic. More specifically GR2 34 for travel
Same here, I was really hopefull for this one but it is just 1-2cm too low for a S9+. I own the Tomtoc explorer 7l, and it fits my tablet with case snug, but I don't dig the style much. Have you found anything else for your tablet?
Thanks, this will probably be my next sling. I currently have a Belroy Venture and a 5.11 LV.10. The Venture wasnt really large enough because internal side pockets were in the way. 🤏 The LV.10 has the pockets I want, but maybe its pockets are a bit misplaced, they dont feel natural to me and I'd prefer if I dont need to change hardware on a brand new sling because a really bad S-attachment that makes the strap jump off the bag entirely.👎
hi ! I need a little advice, I'm looking for a sling bag and it's impossible to find what suits me. I came across the Alpaka Element tech which I think is pretty good, I love the fact that I can remove the strap so I can put it in a bag and use it as a pouch, and I love the magnetic buckle it's very cool. But I would like to know if you know of any other reference than this one. the main points I'm looking for: the straps can be removed to put in a bag, size: medium, classic colors Thanks a lot !
Alpaka will probably be your best bet - check out their wide range of slings and pouches as they have a lot that will suit your needs. I can think of a few other brands, but none that have classic colors like Alpaka
Tomtoc T-26, This Go sling, or like you mentioned the tech case (or the tech case max). but it would help others more if you noted Liter capacity. Medium could be a very wide range. Its relative, bc to say a bag is medium size, you first need to compare it with another bag. but the Go Sling and the Tomtoc are both 5.5L and the tech cases are like 2.8L and 3.3 L (or something around that lol) But i have all of these i mentioned except for the Max tech case, and when I use each one, I usually stick them all in a backpack. (Not all at one of course, but individually )
I just got this and it fits my A7iv + 20-70mm f4 perfectly, together with a water bottle and an umbrella. The only issue is that the bottom of the bag is not padded which is a pity. Anyhow, my A7iv and lens fits into the microfibre slot so I guess it's not that bad.
Thank you for the great reviews. Nomads Nation truley inspires me to search for that next EDC. I was wondering if Nomads Nation would consider show casing more of alpaka's gear in xpac material if made as an option? I find that some of their slings, which are presented in both axoflux and xpac, produce a different presentation. In this review, I am likely to lean towards an alternative. However, if shown in xpac material, my decision could easilly change. I own two alpaka pouches in axoflux and definately see a difference in presentation. Overal, i appreciate your awesome reviews and thank you for letting me express my thoughts.
@@Nomads.Nation Thanks for the info. I think the XS size of the timbuk2 classic messenger is comparable in size as it stated to carry 6L. And that one fits me well in messenger style.
I like this lock on my Bravo Sling Max. It's secure and can't be opened in any way but sliding (which would never occur accidentally)? but can be closed with a simple snap. Although I wish it was made from metal)
I'm not Aaron but I have the elements tech case and tech case max (but not the go sling). Biggest difference is size, the go sling is just bigger - 5.5L for the go sling vs 2.8L for the tech case max (and even smaller for the regular tech case). The go sling is not only bigger but bigger in each dimension - so if you have a large flat item to carry, the go sling might work where the tech case would not. Two other differences are shape and hardware. The tech cases are more 'brick like' in shape whereas the go sling proportions are more writing pad or tablet shaped (the thickness of the tech cases make them proportioned like a brick, while the proportions of the go sling make the thickness less like a brick against the larger length and width). The hardware is more 'there' on the go sling. The tech case has a wrist strap and narrow sling strap, and optionally a 'pro strap' which is wider and a magnetic clasp). The straps on the tech case attached with a gatekeeper which is pretty small in profile (vs. the big buckle on the go sling). I use the regular size tech case in xpac with the pro strap as a sling for travel (flights) and it's excellent. Biggest suggestion would be see what you want to carry and which one fits that best. Also whether you want the larger hardware on the go sling or the more streamlined (and unpadded) hardware and strap of the tech case. The internals on all of them are very good, no other comments there.
Hi Aaron, great vid, I have watched it at least 10 times. I am wanting to carry this go sling as part of my airport travel. I noticed the top carry handle is big enough to be used as a suitcase pass through. Could you please verify this for me. This is my deciding factor over other slings. Cheers mate!
Considering this bag to the Tomtoc Wander T26 daily sling. I don't mind the bigger size of this bag, but my main concern for this Alpaka bag is the shoulder pads being fixated. As for the Tomtoc sling bag, I've heard people complain about the clasp being "squeaky". What's your take on my concerns? Really realy hard to decide! Help me, anybody!
I almost get this but I went for the Flight Sling. A smaller minimal version of this one, lighter and more affordable, without the ring at the bottom which is in reality to attach the stabilizer strap for bikers and such. Also Alpaka's main compartment tag usually works fine as a pen holder.
Yes, but not a very good one. This is a sling first and a waist bag as a very distant second. The Evergoods Hip Pack or WANDRD hip pack would be better sling/waist bag options imo
I actually did this just messing around, and its actually really comfortable lol but very very big for that kinda thing, ..of course. but if youre by yourself,.. why not? lol
Great Review. Wish I had seen it sooner! It validates everything for me though I wish you could show the viewers a bit more about it's strap. I just got the Xpac version in black and love the interior blood orange!. Love that I can fit an ipad pro 11 inch in its keyboard case in it and still manage phone kindle and 500ml water bottle. The aesthetic is great and when not packed out it is nice and slim. My one con is the shoulder strap. Other slings I have tried ( Tom Toc and Osprey and Patagonia) All Attach at the top to a fixed point of the bag and so are not removable and that part of sling is padded most of the way down. This bag the the strap attached at 2 points with Bulky attachments. Additionally I am not a taller guy at only 5'8. In order to get the bag to fit on my back not hanging too low and still manage to get the padding to go on my shoulder requires me to pull the strap on the non buckle side almost to its end. This leaves a lot of strap dangle as the strap keeper only goes so far on the seatbelt type material before hitting the padding part of the strap leaving a good 10 inches of dangle. I have looped the strap on its self a bit as a work around but it does hurt the look of the back. Wish there was a simpler strap system. I might just get the strap cut shorter and then have the loop resewn because truthfully haven't found another bag in close to it's price range that matches it for looks and functionality. Otherwise for me its the perfect sling. Slim when not too packed but can still hold alot and great mix for 1.5 bag travel when you carry a large 40l backpack as your travel bag. The xpac and zippers mean great waater protection. and it looks amazing. The xpac also means no issues with it picking up dirt as you describe in your review.
Try pulling the extra strap (on the side with the shoulder pad) all the way to the opposite end of the pad. Keep the extra strap on the top of the pad all the way down, and secure it to the pad with the strap keepers. The keepers will be really tight and sort of a pain to get them in place. However this is a great thing, bc they will keep the bag Dangle Free! The other side of the strap with no shoulder pad, can be used to shorten or lengthen like normal. but i would advise getting the first side to where you need it so it hits your shoulder and leaving it bee. hope this helps 👍👍
Now they are having the new orange color that really hits on me, BUT, I have TUMI Alpha 2 Sling already, if I buy another bag, my wife going to hate me
Great vid! Thank you Aaron, and I wish there is a master “like” button in TH-cam so that I can one-click to like all the videos you posted. 😂 Have you try to fit your overhead Sony xm5 into this GO sling? I m looking for a sling it fits perfectly and safely.

I like padding on straps for bigger bags, but don’t really like when it’s not floating and stuck in the middle. Still with the looks and slim but tall design of the bag, it’s sorta like a small briefcase, so the lower hanging style works well enough.
good looks on the strap being stuck - I'd like to see more bags implement an adjustable style

Fidlock all the way! But that being said the straps tend to come loose with the v-fidlock just with regular slinging action. Looking to give cofb xpod 2 a shot. Would be upgrading from my modern wayfarer sling for minimal carry with the option to potentially carry a small water bottle.
I wanna start reviewing more cofb gear - I've heard great things
@@Nomads.Nation That would be nice. I actually still watch your videos even of products I already own. Goruck coverage would be fantastic. More specifically GR2 34 for travel
@@michaelklein23appreciate that! We’ve got 2 GORUCK reviews already shot and in line to be edited - hoping to do more soon
I loved the design. I was so hype for this bag but my samsung s9 plus couldnt fit so I had to return it unfortunately.
Really? Though the+ could but not the biggest Samsung tablet.
Thanks for letting us know 💪🏻
Same here, I was really hopefull for this one but it is just 1-2cm too low for a S9+.
The LV.10 has the pockets I want, but maybe its pockets are a bit misplaced, they dont feel natural to me and I'd prefer if I dont need to change hardware on a brand new sling because a really bad S-attachment that makes the strap jump off the bag entirely.👎
💯
But I would like to know if you know of any other reference than this one. the main points I'm looking for: the straps can be removed to put in a bag, size: medium, classic colors
Thanks a lot !
Alpaka will probably be your best bet - check out their wide range of slings and pouches as they have a lot that will suit your needs. I can think of a few other brands, but none that have classic colors like Alpaka
@@Nomads.Nation Hi ! I will look at all of this, thank you very much! keep up 💪🏻👍🏻
@@LeMogwaiYT glad to help
Tomtoc T-26, This Go sling, or like you mentioned the tech case (or the tech case max).
but it would help others more if you noted Liter capacity. Medium could be a very wide range. Its relative, bc to say a bag is medium size, you first need to compare it with another bag.
but the Go Sling and the Tomtoc are both 5.5L and the tech cases are like 2.8L and 3.3 L (or something around that lol)
But i have all of these i mentioned except for the Max tech case, and when I use each one, I usually stick them all in a backpack. (Not all at one of course, but individually )
Also the Flight Sling or Vertex Pouch from Alpaka seem to fit your criteria.
I just got this and it fits my A7iv + 20-70mm f4 perfectly, together with a water bottle and an umbrella. The only issue is that the bottom of the bag is not padded which is a pity. Anyhow, my A7iv and lens fits into the microfibre slot so I guess it's not that bad.
thanks for your feedback!
Which do you recommend more for travel purposes? This or the tomtoc t26?
Both work imo, I’d just go with whichever size you need. Bigger or smaller?
Does this fit Samsung Galaxy S9?
Don’t have one so don’t know - I recommend checking with Alpaka customer support. Please let us know what they say 🙏🏽
No it does not, in height is just a bit too low. Especially if you consider a case with your tablet, then it definitely doesn't fit.
Alright thank you for the replies! :)
Few days ago I got a feedback from Alpaka CS, they said it wont fit also.
The bag in Xpac is a beauty. The outside willnot attract dirt and the interior is a blood orange hi vis liner that is so nice!
Love me some XPAC and will def try to get a few more from Alpaka for future reviews. Cheers!
Wondering if that bag can fit a Kindle Scribe with the case?
don't have one of those lol, sounds like a great question for Alpaka Customer support! Be sure to let us know what they say
Version 2 has been out for roughly 10 days now my friend.. Are you going to do a side by side comparison when you grab Version 2?
Hoping to!

Alpaka Go Sling X-Pac or Tomtoc T26 Wanderer X-Pac? I intend to fit a Steamdeck plus other edc items
not sure as I don't own a steamdeck, sry!
Nice review this bag is amazing
Glad you enjoyed it!
I'm new to this kind of stuff. Can this be used as a messenger bag? I just tried a timbuk2 classic messenger bag XS and it fits me well.
It's not really a messenger as its much smaller, but it can be worn in the cross-body messenger style fairly well
@@Nomads.Nation Thanks for the info.
Although I wish it was made from metal)
metal would be more of a premium feel, but would add noticeable weight as well
@@Nomads.NationEh, the strap itself is on the bulky side, a bit of added weight won't really hurt)
@@evgeniydeus8137 agreed, not much
Would it be able to fit a MacBook Air 13/14", like Aer Tech/Travel Sling?
I do not think so, but I don't have it with me so probably best to double check with Alpaka customer support. Please let us know what they say!
You’d be looking at a larger Alpaka model, like the 14” tech brief or a bravo sling
1:20 5.5l so thats going to fit in a Bellroy sling lite easily yeah?
This is me repping Alpaka btw, Bellroys sizing is nonsence!
Alpaka for the win😍
I do agree that Bellroy sling sizes are not the most accurate. BUT their backpacks are usually pretty spot on
Does it fit a Samsung Tab S8+ in the main compartment?
Not sure, I recommend asking Alpaka - please let us know what they say!
Does this fit a Sony a7c?
I need a good, not too big, edc crossbody bag for vocations..
not sure what this is...
You think I can squeeze in a 11.5" x 8.03" tablet w/ case inside? 😅
don't have one so can't say for sure, I'd recommend reaching out to Alpaka customer support. Be sure to let us know what they say!
The maglockz and fidlock buckles are a concern for travel carry 😅
Good to know!
How does it compare to element tech case as a sling?
Epic and totally agree - tech cases are much more ‘brick’-like and don’t sit against the body as flush as a designated sling
Does anyone know if the magnetic key leash van be sold separately? I'd love hooking it up in my larger bag
I think it's sold separately, might be best to double check with Alpaka customer support though
I really wish I could help but I'm traveling right now. Please reach out to Alpaka customer support and let us know what they say 🙏
Help me, anybody!
both cons you mention are true, neither bag is perfect. go with your gut
Any chance that a Samsung Tab S9+ (12.4") will fit in this bag?
don't have one so not sure, but I'm sure Alpaka customer support can help - be sure to let us know what they say!
Would love for you to review the code of bell x-pod and the resisology module sling.
Great recs! I’ll add to our wish list
How to detach the key slog magnetic?
Pull on the magnet to release it
@@Nomads.Nation Thank you
I almost get this but I went for the Flight Sling. A smaller minimal version of this one, lighter and more affordable, without the ring at the bottom which is in reality to attach the stabilizer strap for bikers and such. Also Alpaka's main compartment tag usually works fine as a pen holder.
I prefer the Flight Sling to this sling - more malleable and lighter feel
Is it can be use as waist bag?
Yes, but not a very good one. This is a sling first and a waist bag as a very distant second. The Evergoods Hip Pack or WANDRD hip pack would be better sling/waist bag options imo
I actually did this just messing around, and its actually really comfortable lol
but very very big for that kinda thing, ..of course. but if youre by yourself,.. why not? lol
Do the new Bravo Sling Mini V2 please!
I’ll do my best!
Does a 26oz water bottle fit in this?
not sure, don't have one with me, be sure to ask Alpaka customer support and let us know what they say!
Thanks for your comment, especially regarding the strap!
The glowing logo MacBooks were peak apple design!
💯
Can this not be used as a waist pack? You’ve totally sold me on this if only it could also be used as a fanny pack….
It can but not a very good waist pack, slings are designed to fit around the chest
key point for some folks is the fact you can fit the iPad Pro 11" inside
