Since TEKKEN 8 released last week, I've spent most of my time enjoying the newest character, Reina. A lot of viewers on Twitch have been asking me questions on how to play Reina, so here it is! I spend a few minutes quickly going over my favorite moves & tools before demonstrating them in Ranked Match. It's different from your normal tutorial because I spend less time in Practice Mode and more time explaining on live test subjects. Hope that you guys find it helpful. Enjoy!
I like how he shows a move and then immediately uses it in a match in a practical way. This kind of content is much better to learn how to play a character

This guide is super sick. Starts with a simple gameplan, and keeps layering on top of it with practical examples
I’d love to see a fundamentals guide like this. With movement, sidestepping etc

Watched you in tourneys for a while, older Tekken player here and Josie was my main in T7 loved the mix ups, T8 dosent really have a Josie so I picked up Renia and is basically my first Mishima (played a little devil Jin in T7), this vid and the one on movement has been monumentally helpfull, Thank you!
Azucena is closest you get to Josie
for her stomp punch combo, if you qcf before the punch input it will give you the enhanced version of it. makes execution a lotttt easier imo
I’ve been practicing her for a bit and she’s VERY tricky. She’s fun to play, and I plan on maining her. Thank god I found this guide

EWGK is guaranteed after the following moves land - running 3, forward+3,4. Down +2, and forward+4 on counter. If they mash the EWGK counters them for a full launch juggle. Have fun fellow Reinas of the community. Sharing is caring.

This was well presented, thank you. You broke down the gameplan so well at the start. Very easy to see, follow, and understand. My only ask would be to turn on the inputs display in the future. Its really helpful.
Anakin just casually destroying Fame96 in the first match, wow. Fame is a killer in Guilty Gear, but Anakin is shows here that Tekken is a different animal.
I know lmao. I watched fame96 to learn nago stuff and now I'm learning tekken from Anakin.
You can't compare the two fighting games, Tekken is more complex than any other
I'm sure Anakin would fold in GG, so it's about context.

I'm only like 2 min into the vid but you briefly mentioned if you can't do hellsweep got me thinking.
I've been doing the hellsweep into whilst crouch df4 leading into insane combos it's so satisfying.

This is a great general guide on how to understand the basics of the characters and to breakdown the stances. With that and other guides on the stances and combos im set for the training !

This was a very insightful video. I’m maining Reina and my problem is I ALWAYS try to do her upper cut and go into a combo which really screws me over. I need to do more of just punching 😂

@@max543 Twinsies. I've been learning that it's better to just jab jab, ,wait your turn, then jab jab again until you get an opening. I got really screwed climbing green ranks from constantly attacking and trying to uppercut lol

Man just the way you explain and show things is amazing, it really helps that you're insane at the game, which means you can put into practice what you're talking about mid fight and the lesson will still flow smoothly.

only issue I have with this guide is that he didn't say or show the inputs for all the moves and follow ups, and I dont know them because I'm a beginner which is why I am here.

Awesome video. I was a bit confused on a lotta things tho cause your inputs are off so some of the moves are really hard to figure out especiially cause theres 134 to look through. I still learned a ton ty.
I’m really enjoying Reina.
The spin is so good for keeping pressure on. When you come up against a King using speciality mode (happens a lot to us noobs) you can keep the pressure on and decimate them usually.

reina reminds me of julia aswell. her ff2 is similar to julia ff 1 gameplan, unbreakable grab (julia had a 10f 1+2 grab) a spin similar to julia and df4 string that bounds like julia lol just wanted to point that out
Glad someone else said it, my T7 main was Julia and Reina does feel pretty familiar, a mix of Julia and Heihachi

I'm seeing a little bit of Julia in here with the f,f+2 midrange approach and she has a mad axe motion throw (It doesn't have the crazy buffer window mad axe has though). I'm keeping my gameplan simple while learning but man is she satisfying to play.

What we needed
For wall travel and damage i like using electric electric df1,1 > f2,3 > df1 hold forward into sentai 1+2, if at the wall or close to the wall youll be in heavens wrath and can do 4,2,2, QCF1+2 for big damage. Also using df1,1 after the first two electrics keeps the combo consistent if you missinput the second electric as her df2 which will drop the combo if you go straight into f2,3. You can subsitute any ender if you need more wall carry as well such as CD1,4 or CD into while rising 3,4. Can pretty much to wall to wall with it. Also you can add a 1 after the first df1,1 go get some more travel.
Additionally you can sub the second electric for 3,4 does the same damage and can pick up with df1,1.
Ulsan and other high level players do ewgf ff2f3 df1 f23f df1 f32f2 T! with wall carry options like df11 and uf3+4, 1+2. And if any part already have you wall, it uses tornado and the wall, usually allowing jab into d41
@@sadpug9398 after the second df1 do you mean another f23f2? Been trying that seems hard to connect that last part after the second df1, everything before it flows nice tho. Not sure how they are connecting that last portion seems to far away unless they are fitting in a micro dash somewhere, gonna lab it some more. Good looks tho!

Thanks for the guide. I know this is a bit late but when u do WS4,4 it minus on hit but if u hold down u go into devils wrath and you are plus 8 i think
She can command grab at the end of her heat. Cool combo videos but I prefer to see set ups leading into command grabs when characters turtle and some matches are costs because of so. If you’d command grab instead of spamming block strings with one low at the end, a lot more rounds would have played in your favor.

this is rad but I wish direction inputs were shown. tekken notation still feels foreign to me, so when he said "forward forward 2" I just heard 4,4,2. Additionally, when he was talking about her spin followups, I cant immediatly see the move and go, "oh thats her xyz move, got it"

man u look It seems easy to do it, but my goodness, in the 2 or 3 games I've played with Reina, I tried to push like that but I ate all the hits. I also have to say that I'm new to the saga and I'm trying to master Reina, one of the most difficult characters to use in the game. according to what many people say, and im frustraring a bit jaja(10/10 vid for a noob like me )
The biggest thing I got from this video is I need to use F4 more with Reina 😮

I've been playing around her in training mode doing advanced combos (75 damage minimum) but then it's mostly useless because the game doesn't teach you how to defend or pressure your opponent to find an opening.
Here I see basic stuff that destroys way better opponents than what I'm facing.
But again, your reina moves 3 times faster than mine.

Tekken 8 really requires you to learn how to block and punish since this game incentivizes aggro way too much, imo thats a good thing, ive seen comments from some pros saying that t8 is so bad since its just a mashing game, i just feel like they havent transitioned to thr gameplay of t8 yet
