Puma seems to be legitimately killing it in regards to their new speedboots. The new ultras are underrated because they aren't a "merc" or an "f50". While i personally prefer the carbon, both versions are top quality and offer a true hardcore speedboot experience compared to the softer approaches of the other brands.
These kinds of things are relatively negligible at this engineering level. If plastic compounds can perform marginally better that’s fine, but the price reduction is the bigger win here. The placebo of knowing a (perceived) exotic material such as CF under your foot should not be underestimated also. I personally miss carbon soleplates, even if they are redundant, they made boots look like they were made at a NASA factory.
I a lot of cases, I'd agree with you. Most carbon fiber soleplates have offered nothing more other than looking cool. Not the case with the Ultra 5 Carbon though. It's significantly stiffer, and as a result, way more responsive in feel. That feel isn't for everyone though, as I talk about quite a bit in this video 👍
I like that Puma are offering their top boots at a lower price than the other "big" brands, because honestly $230 is still a big number but going 30,40 beyond that is just a big ask for many people. I'll keep these on my list!
How do they compare to the Ultra 1.4 ? I really like mine and these new Ultimate models seem like they did a 180 from what made the Ultra 1 series so great . Low tech and super light weight to high tech and heavier
I’ve thought for a while that anyone who is still hyped for carbon fiber soleplates is blinded by nostalgia. It was great for its time, provided a great structure, and looked badass, but it wasn’t ever very durable and the pricing was prohibitive even back in the day. Boots would be pushing $300+ if we had full carbon fiber plates back, at least if it was Nike or Adidas.
you are correct I want it more for looks plastic or carbon is there any actual benefit from either the weight and material is no minimal that it won't improve or decrease skill
@@lucascassol2995Well you pointed out it wasn’t very durable and thats the point they were making. Less plastic means it’s going to be less prone to cracking. If football boots in general were more durable I wouldn’t mind spending an extra $60 to have basically zero stud pressure which is something very noticeable between plastic and carbon fiber soleplates.
I have the MG version. Really wanted to like the boots. I find that the grip is too much though. Difficult to do quick in and out turns without having the ball get stuck under your foot. I'm not skillful enough to know whether I'll be able to adjust to it. Touch is also very raw. Prefer the Alpha in that regard as it takes the sting out of shots. Also I'm finding that with my left foot only, when I do those aggressive turns, my left toe is crashing into the side of the upper and causing quite a bit of pain. Much better than the F50.
Don't use them on AG. The studs are too long anyway and the whole point of them is that they can dig into the ground. On an AG pitch, it's shallow and the feedback from the force is probably why they are cracking
Hi Josh, could you review the new take down model of the Sketchers SKX 01. Really interested in the differences between the top end and take down models and especially being sketchers first attempt at a take down model
Do these boots run a bit long like the carbon version. I have mine in true to size and defnitly they work, but i feel half a size down may work, what are your thoughts plz?
I would say they’re very different from the 1.4s. These will definitely fit tighter, aren’t quite as light and have more grip in the ball, along with more aggressive traction. Both are great, but different in a lot of ways
@@Soccerreviewsforyou but it will fit right i got a wide foot not like big as foot but some people saying there more wide unisport says there more wider then 1.4

Can’t wait for the takedown model review the puma ultra 5 match and pro look so good

I’d consider puma if they’d fix their sizing issue and stud length.
Been watching for years and miss the what’s in my bag videos
Nostalgic

Carbon fiber has evolved, just as much as plastics.
@@Deehydrate not the point I was making but sure yeah. Pay 60 more bucks for a negligible difference if it floats your boat.

Who cares they look cool 😎
thoughts on the AG version?😬
nice video!
I found the Carbon variant to be a narrower fit compared to the plastic version.

Josh, i see a lot of people say these run long, but you say true to size. Have you worn them more? Do you still have the same opinion?
Slightly related note, I heard 2024 FG predator's stud plates are cracking, more often when used on AG. Might be the material issue?
Im playing with my predator fg few months and no problem so far on AG

Does it feel like the 1.4’s
Please James, bring back "what’s in my bag" series 🥲
First to see Josh roast puma

Sizing is the same between them.
Can you please review the ultra 5 match?
How do these compare to the Ultra 5 Pro’s? Haven’t been able to find anything online about them.
Video review coming soon!

is there going to be a review of the takedown pro model
Yes! Video coming soon
better than ultra 1.3/1.4?
Depending on personal preferences, absolutely! They're very different boots though.
Can this boot used on AG?
I would not recommend it with the FG stud pattern
Puma should fire all their shoe designers
Carbon fiber, you dont use carbon as a sole plate 🤦
Plastic is carbon too.
First can I get a pin from the goat of boat reviews
Did you saw the new Copa Gloro II and do you think they are better than Nike Premier 3
Video coming very soon! Stay tuned!
