Mirrolure Dominance: Winning 1st Place in a Speckled Trout Tourney (MR17/MR18s)

- A couple of weeks ago my friend Dwayne and I entered a local Speckled Trout tournament. We went up against a field of 8 other boats and took 1st place with a weight just under 9lbs. MirroLures was the winning ticket as we caught/landed about two dozen fish. This was my first time entering and it was an enjoyable finish. Welcome to the channel and enjoy our highlights. My tackle consisted of 7' HMG and HMX Fenwick 7' Med Rods. Daiwa Laguna 7'1'' MF all paired with Daiwa BG 2500 and Penn Battle 3s 2500 laced with 15lb power pro slick with a 12lb, 4' long Flouro leader. That lighter leader seemed to produce the better bite due to being more invisible.

Dwayne Deaver is a stand up guy. I’m friends with his son. My father in law and I fish tournaments out of Belhaven with another guy. It’s so much fun and that thump therapy is amazing!
Absolutely! Salt of the Earth type of guy. I don’t talk to Buddy too much but I talked to Dwayne about every 2-3 days.

Congrats my man!!! It makes it all the better to wallop them when a crowd is around. Do it all the time in the Spring when im shad and striper fishing, call it "putting on a show".
That’s one thing I’ve never done is shad fish. I’ve always caught Striper on accident looking for Specks and Reds.
Two boats saw we caught a trout then pull almost on top of where I’d already pulled 5 out of. They didn’t catch nothing at all but I still cont’d to catch in the same general area.
@@SlackTidesFishing I'm thinking of selling some trips this spring, the shad is my bread and butter, 50+ fish days, per person, itll spoil you though, really turned me off of bass fishing and only catching 1-10 in 4hrs.
I'm heading to the 🐓 Wednesday for the first time this yr, buddy told me south was ate up with boats and shorts past weekend. Big shorts fun to catch but shorts nonetheless
