Yeah, it’s a great spot! Keep at it, and it’ll happen for you eventually. Definitely hit or miss though, just like most places! Appreciate you checking out the video and dropping a comment 🙏
Thanks for watching! And yeah… that fish was a good one for sure. Cant believe that run it took me on.. much appreciated, tight lines and stay safe out there too my friend ✌️
MH rod, 15lb fresh braid and 12lb Maxima Ultragreen for me for that exact reason. Managed 25lb 4oz this year but I agree, weird fall. Water is still in 70's...
For cranks too? I’ve got that same setup basically but for spoons and I love it for that but I’ve noticed the stretch with the mono helps me land more fish with the crank baits but I’m still experimenting. Nice fish!! That’s a biggin 🔥. Hopefully the water cools off soon 🙏
@@austinkroos now that I think of it... one and only fish I had hooked on crankbait (MH/braid setup) came unpinnen... Im primarily a spoon guy. Honestly I could do just fine with 3/4oz green glow Cleo my whole life 😄 Do you get them on J13 in deep peers too? Say the south end of Kenosha harbor for example?
@@austinkroos Weird. So I've yet to loose a salmon on a spoon, EVER. This morning two fish came unbuttoned on J13... 15lb braid, 12lb leader, MH rod. So I take it the whole idea with cranks is to use softer rod and mono to keep the fish pinned? So frustrating...
First fish was foul hooked there is no way a fish hooked in the mouth rips that hard. Try a Deep Walleye Bandit in Pearl or double glow they love the lazy wobble over the tight wiggle and staging fish are all about pearl
Hey Dave, appreciate the insight! Honestly, I’m pretty sure it was hooked in the mouth, but I get where you’re coming from with how crazy that fight was. I’ll definitely give the Deep Walleye Bandit in Pearl or Double Glow a try next time-I’m always down to try something new. Thanks for the tip, man! 🎣
Thanks for the tips! I’ve been running 10 lb line and a smaller reel for the challenge. It’s definitely been a wild ride with some close calls, but I’m considering upgrading soon for bigger fish. Appreciate you watching and the advice!
Hey, appreciate you watching! It might not be the freshest, but the fight was still epic and a lot of fun. It’s all part of the experience! I think it had a lot to do with the current of the river being stronger there or something.
Thanks! I just prefer the stretch with mono for cranks personally. I also will agree to disagree about that being a waste of 40 minutes of fishing time 🤣 thanks for watching brotha!
What a fight on 10lb mono, wow! That was a masterful piece of fishing, my friend. Awesome fish, congrats!
Right?! It was something special. 🙏Thank you so much for the comment and for watching!
@@austinkroos I'm fishing Kenosha harbor regularly, hope to snag a fish like that someday!
I've fished that pier several times. Never hooked up but always had fun. Had better luck on the rocks at the mouth. Congrats man.

Great video, bro! Can't wait to see more videos!
I appreciate it homie! More to come! 🫡
super fun even watching
Means a lot, thanks for watching!
I saw you there just after you net that fish. It was a hard week to hook them. Great hookup.
Super tough week, but so thankful for this catch! Thank you for the comment brotha and thanks for watching! Were you able to land any that day?
Awesome time fishing out there bro. That was a big fish that broke off. Yikes. Stay safe and connected bro.

J-13 always comes in clutch great video👊🏽.

What length leader do you run?
@@V276M around 6' 12lb Maxima
J 13 works best in rivers less than 5 feet. Thats my go to lure and they absolutely ceush it
Thank you! I’m going to definitely give that a try. I struggle in the rivers lol

Great perseverance bud. But I'd upgrade on the equipment just a tad. 20 pound Braide and 15-pound fluorocarbon leader. maybe a slightly bigger reel.

Great fish though
@@Michael-mo9yf dang! You’re having an awesome season. Hopefully you get an angry momma like this one soon... still can’t believe the fight from her.
20lb braid and a 14lb flouro leader man! Do yourself a favor. You just wasted 40 minutes of fishing time. 😂 nice fish though
