Spending on transfers to replace a key player isn't necessarily the problem where it went wrong. You can't replace Neymar at the peak of his playing with a youth academy talent, so spending the big bucks for a good replacement is necessary. But spending more than half of the Neymar money on a 19 year old Dembele who played a completely different system and tactics at Dortmund was just insanely stupid. He missed Lord Braithwaite, I guess. And due you guys remember, how much hate Andre Gomes used to get ?? At HIS peak at Barca he started getting booed by Barca fans when he would get the ball.
and after all this xavi is getting blamed for a poorly managed club with a poor system that’s been put into years and years starting with that neymar selling.
Yh just need them to stay fully fit. Can't let them end up like Fati and what's happening to Pedri recently. You have a good core to work with for the future in Yamal, Cubarsi, Pedri, Gavi, Balde, Faye
Xavi of course wants to spend more, and want better players, he just can't and have no freedom to do so as Barca have almost no money. One of the reasons he is leaving is because even if they won the league for a second time, he won't get the freedom to choose the players he wants for the forseeable future.
I really hope Messi, Luis Suarez comes across this video and isn't sad anymore, understands the economic and business side of it I also think if they were gonna kick them out they should've atleast arranged a farewell ceremony like they did with Pique, Busquets, Alba, etc; that had no excuse on Barcelona's part But yes, this video is really well done, I perfectly understood everything
It absolutely boggles the mind how he thought coutinho and griezmann, both who are at their best at number 10, would somehow fit into the team when Messi was there. Literally any other position you could have made it work but you signed not one but 2 number 10s when you had Messi already. And then wondered why they weren't as good in a different position.
Barca downfall not that bad. They’re in Champions quarterfinals now in 2024.They went through this in late 90s, early 2000s and came back. Worse examples are AC Milan, Manchester United and even Ajax until recent.
@@AbeerRai-j9tfc Barcelona had a debt of over €200 million in 2002 as well, just before Joan LaPorta started his first reign as president. That was massive level of debt for that time as well. But Barca bounced back.

Laporta is doing a good job. Even during their 2-1 defeat to Madrid in the classico, I could see the spirit of their players. It's still there. They have good players. They just need one good coach to make it work. I feel like Nagelsmann is the right fit to be the next coach. i hate bartemeu and i hate ernesto valverde. the single handedly ruined my club. i still love barca. one day we will rise again and be the most feared in europe.
I dont understand why did they make Bartomeu Fc Barcelona president, when he is not competant at all buying random players for ludicrous amount of money, while they werent that good end of the day. Why did Bartomeu end Lamasia, when they can get players for very cheap price from there and and why did the switch Suarez for Griezmann with Atheltico Madrid, when Suarez is obviously the better striker of the two and his not clown, like Griezmann is. It seems Fc Barcelona is no where close to the gianst they used to be in 2010s and wont be, unitil atleast the 2030s. Bartomeu got literally prime Fc Barcelona team to his hand and in six years he managed to destroy the club. Why did they vote for this man to be their president.
Bartomeu is the third president with the most trophies. And Laporta's current spending and club management is making Bartomeu look like a noble economy award winner from Harvard business school. 😂 You guys are letting Laporta get away with everything, perhaps soon selling the club to some middle east oil state.
Rosell too was responsible. He hate Guardiola and Cruyff Also you don't mention two of the most important reasons. Luis Enrique and Valverde. Both being very different in their dealings with the locker room, the first was more "hard-handed" and the heavyweights like "Piqué, Messi, Suarez" did not like that. That's why Luis Enrique leaves the club and Valverde is chosen, because he was more "soft-handed" and the training sessions were shorter. The situation is largely Bartomeu's responsibility. But also Messi, Piqué and also the fans who did not know and do not know how to make a criticism and analysis worthy of the circumstance.
Thank you for sharing the story. I hate all the kids that talk trash without knowing the real story about that garbage of a president we had and what he did to ruin our club
Barça shouldn’t just dismiss XAVI at the end of the season. He should be given another office in Barça instead of letting him go. Xavi focus his energy on young players from La Masia and the last person that did that was Pep. I think even pep will struggle in this situation and we need to respect Xavi because he is our legend. Dembele left and instead of of an expensive we have Lamine, pau, Fermin, Gavi, Torres, and many more. THANK YOU XAVI for your support of LA MASIA. ❤
Mi jugador favorito, Lionel Messi, hizo mucha historia allí. Incluso siempre cantando el himno de Barcelona. Espero que nos recuperemos pronto.💔
This is mostly normal because every team has experience rise and fall cycles many times, just like through history Real Madrid has experienced a rise and fall and rise again moment many times . I don’t know if you guys know what I’m trying to say.
In some ways it's very similar to what happens to a lot of third world countries, where they're working on developing and becoming better, and they're even getting there... And then a single bad president comes in and literally destroys everything and puts them back literal decades.
Barcas greatst strength was it developmental capabilities they relied on developing stars and selling them avoiding expensive transfers but then did a 180 and tried to be city or madrid w/o financial backing it really hurt them
Bartomeu is the main reason for the downfall, but why their star-studded transfers not working? Most of the transfer are proven players still can't perform.
It was anything but surprising, given barca had pathetic financial management even during the guardiola era. The only difference back then was, their success more than overshadowed their fundamental flaws. But ofc, once the results started to vanish, everything surfaced
The three transfers (Dembele, Coutinho, Griezmann) still give me nightmares...and there were so many bad transfers in a 5 year span (Andre Gomes 50 Mio. hurts)
It was actually insane watching this real time. Instead of maybe buying depth with good players, they just went all out and spent it all on three players. Idk how they ran a football club this way at all.
Really well made video mate, just a tiny nitpicky gripe though, what is going on with the audio lol its like you're running laps around me while trying to whisper into my ear
I remember the MSN trio in 2015 playing the best football in Europe, sweeping past PSG, Bayern and Juventus in the UCL to win the Treble. At that time I was thinking Barca would be competing in UCL finals for the next 10-15 years It's alarming how far they have fallen
They were Lucky in 2015, Real Madrid was already the BEST team in Europe on his way to winning 4 champions leagues in 5 years only missing 2015. They smashed MSN barca 3-1 at the Bernabeu in the middle of a 28-win in a row streak, Madrid had prime BBC plus prime Kroos and Modric plus prime Ramos and Varane. They were the most complete team but Modric 4 month injury ruined the season and a narrow classico win march made barca win la liga against a 92 point 118 goals Madrid side Who even Lost Ucl semis to Juventus with a fluke Morata goal. Barcelona was not as dominant in midfield anymore Xavi and Iniesta were on decline near retirement
@@docdoc5880 MSN Lost 3-1 at the Bernabeu that season. Won 2-1 at home being dominated thanks to a Mathieu set piece. Madrid was on 28 win in a row streak that season till Modric got injured 4 months. Lost la liga with 92 points 118 goals by 2 points.
IF they are found guilty. They might be completely innocent. I mean, it sound dubious, as La Liga-referees has rarely ever not favoured the opposing team over Barca. I’d be like if a defendant bribed a jury who then takes the money and all unanimously find the defendant guilty.
La liga refs have been favoring Barcelona for years. Red card count 2001-2018. Barcelona +78 reds, Real Madrid -12. You know how crazy IS that between the two main contenders? How many key points Barcelona saved every season because they play against 10 men teams? How many points Madrid Lost for the same reason? Between 2016-2018 Bartomeu reign Barcelona spent 3 years in la liga with 0 reds and 0 pens against. In 2015-2016 season Barcelona won la liga by 1 point against a Real Madrid champions League winning side with 19-0 on pens in 38 games between Europes record
@@bangoagroupmadrid1Your argument is only valid if they red card were underved while Barca simultaneously comitted acts deserving of a red card, without getting it. @@theCranesUS you know Who was the 4th referee in that Ucl final? Tom henning Ovrebo. The same Guy Who stole Chelsea in 2009. Why UEFA sent referees from Norway to the biggest match of the season?
Messi had a huge impact on Barcelona's economic downfall. His demand for a contract renewal and subsequent pay increase, began to take a toll on the finances. At one point Messi was taking home around 75 millions per year. His salary was such a burden that Barcelona will still be paying him back wages well into 2025-2026 season. Years and years after he left the club.
He brought in way more money than they were paying him. Relax! His presence at Barcelona generated more money in match day sales, shirt sales and sponsorship amounting to literal billions. It is all just economics. No one will be paid more than their worth.
@@Ram-RTR exactly Messi was the main cause. Thank you for agreeing with me. Messi ruined them, plus the vast corruption of their presidents. They are basically a crime syndicate.
7:00 The difference is that Messi justified his wage by earning millions for Barca through his name alone, with the sponsorships he attracted and shirt sales, unlike the others.
Nothing justifies a 555M 4years deal, Pérez got rid of CR7 after winning 3 champions leagues in a row and being CR7 the most followed sportsman on earth just because CR7 wanted a payrise Up to 30M Net a year, that decision by Pérez selling CR7 to Juventus before the pandémic using that money to sign 18 years old Vinicius and rodrigo saved Real Madrid
Problems started long before that, even during Neymar's tenure when they suffered defeats like 4-0 to PSG and 3-0 to Roma in the Champions League. Rakitic replacing Xavi was temporary solution, Roberto stepping in for Alves, and Coutinho for Iniesta's wasn't gonna fit. Busquets and Pique had already shown signs of slowing down, and adding two more players to the list exacerbated the issue. Players like Griezmann, Turan, Aleix, Mathieu, and Coutinho were deemed unnecessary acquisitions. Although they brought in some decent talents like Arthur, Malcom, Andre Gomes could have served as good substitutes for Busquets. Dembele's signing, though costly, had potential at the time. However, proper coaching and medical support were crucial for their success, which unfortunately seemed lacking.
And what makes it all sadder is that we lost one of our best players during this era and then later on lost Messi, with nothing to show for it other than overpriced players.
I don’t know if you’ll see this comment but I hope you do. I got suggested this video after watching a video from Brazilian channel called “Muniz Fut”. It wasn't just one man but two men. Not just Bartemou but his predecessor Sandro Rosell was the original father of mismanagement as well. Both of them are responsible for Barca's current situation.
I wouldn’t put it all on Bartomeu. We can agree that he was the decision maker, but he has a board next to him. Furthermore, the fans wanted those moves. The fans wanted Messi renewed every year. It falls on all of them.
I was a huge fan from 2006-2011. When Sandro Rossel took over everything started to feel off! I had hope in Tito Villanova after Pep left but unfortunately he passed away.
good grief the amount of hate comments i'm seeing is off the charts. great video but with Flick's incredible tactics lately barca could find some stability and slowly start to untangle some of this mess. after this season if they can sell 2 of their wonderkids for the hyper inflated prices they can really make progress
How???, explain, I mean, I don't hate barca, but how you will comeback??, even with new coach hansi flick will have difficulty with trying changing tactics in barca since they play only in "barca ways" 😮

You can't replace Neymar at the peak of his playing with a youth academy talent, so spending the big bucks for a good replacement is necessary. But spending more than half of the Neymar money on a 19 year old Dembele who played a completely different system and tactics at Dortmund was just insanely stupid. Dortmund and Liverpool saw the Neymar moneybags and squeezed every penny out of it that they possibly could, and then some. There has never been a more appropriate context for the "This had been the worst trade deal in the history of trade deals" Trump meme than this. Even Trump knows this is not how you do the art of the deal lol.

Xavi is doing a splendid job fixing this. He is spending minimal figures and the team is surprisingly quite good
Xavi of course wants to spend more, and want better players, he just can't and have no freedom to do so as Barca have almost no money. One of the reasons he is leaving is because even if they won the league for a second time, he won't get the freedom to choose the players he wants for the forseeable future.
Aaaaaand he just quite 😕

I really hope Messi, Luis Suarez comes across this video and isn't sad anymore, understands the economic and business side of it
I also think if they were gonna kick them out they should've atleast arranged a farewell ceremony like they did with Pique, Busquets, Alba, etc; that had no excuse on Barcelona's part
But yes, this video is really well done, I perfectly understood everything
It absolutely boggles the mind how he thought coutinho and griezmann, both who are at their best at number 10, would somehow fit into the team when Messi was there. Literally any other position you could have made it work but you signed not one but 2 number 10s when you had Messi already. And then wondered why they weren't as good in a different position.

Laporta is doing a good job. Even during their 2-1 defeat to Madrid in the classico, I could see the spirit of their players. It's still there. They have good players. They just need one good coach to make it work. I feel like Nagelsmann is the right fit to be the next coach. He's known to deploy multiple strategies such as tiki-taka and gegenpressing with various formations. He has worked with relegation battler, mid table and top table team. turning hoffenheim from relegation battler to top table. made leipzig a well feared dark horse. he wasn't that good for Bayern but man 71.4% win rate is amazing. even the well-respected Tuchel can't do as good as him. i hate bartemeu and i hate ernesto valverde. the single handedly ruined my club. i still love barca. one day we will rise again and be the most feared in europe.
Wtf you hate valverde for he was forced to use players not in his plans griezman, coutinho
Feels nice to be this delusional
Bartomeu is the third president with the most trophies. And Laporta's current spending and club management is making Bartomeu look like a noble economy award winner from Harvard business school. 😂 You guys are letting Laporta get away with everything, perhaps soon selling the club to some middle east oil state.
Valverde should not have been sacked
Rosell too was responsible. He hate Guardiola and Cruyff
Also you don't mention two of the most important reasons.

Barça shouldn’t just dismiss XAVI at the end of the season. He should be given another office in Barça instead of letting him go. It's alarming how far they have fallen

Man I felt second hand anxiety the way you narrated the story.
Biggest what if is “what if Laporta never left his presidential job at barca”
