Hi everyone, hope you're having a good weekend. I was waiting for a tour the other day and thought it'd be nice to film a few more of the places I love in Edinburgh - really hope you enjoy the wee film and I've captioned where all the places are so you can visit yourself. I'm not a natural on camera, but I thought I'd try to show up a bit more this year and share a few travel tips for Edinburgh and the rest of Scotland. Most of them are already in my Edinburgh City Guide, but I thought it'd be good to share a few in person 🙂 The Cherry blossom is starting to come out in Edinburgh, and I hope to capture some of the wonderful cherry blooms in The Meadows on film soon. Have a lovely weekend everyone and thanks so much for watching.

So pleased that all your hard work has been worth it especially with the success of the tours ! , never realised until recently that the giraffe statues are made up of car parts ! and St Paul's / St George's church design was based on King's College , Cambridge. Your presentation skills are better than most TH-camrs which are fun , articulate and informative. The timeless beauty of tree blossom and spring flowers really capture the imagination in a positive way and hopefully Adventures in Scotland will flourish as well 😊

Thanks so much Aidan, really appreciate you watching and all your really kind words. I'm trying to improve my presenting skills, but I still find it really tricky doing it myself - but I'll persevere :-) Maybe in a year or two I'll have cracked it :-) Things are going well on the tours front which I'm really grateful for. I hugely enjoy it and it's great doing the Glasgow tours now. Take care and thanks for all your words of encouragement, best wishes, David

Hi Anne, hope you're well and thanks, as always, for watching and all your very kind, encouraging words. As I get busier, I'm finding it harder to fit in videos, but I'm going to squeeze them in when I can :-) I've just been doing a tour in Glasgow and managed to fit in a bit of filming and should have a video from there out this weekend. Hope you have a lovely week and thanks again for watching :-)

Hi Jim, hope you're well and thanks for watching and the very kind words, which I deeply appreciate. I always have to take these videos quickly in one-take, but hope to be able to film something a little more slowly over the year to celebrate the city. Thanks again for watching and have a lovely week. All the best, David :-)

With regard to driving: Visitors to Scotland, particularly those from Canada and America, are often under the assumption that renting a car is a necessity. But that is not so. As David notes, train connections between Edinburgh and Glasgow are about 50 minutes, with the stations being right in the centre of the shopping districts. Ditto buses (Edinburgh Bus Station is a couple minutes walk from Waverley Train Station in Edinburgh; Glasgow Bus Station is a couple minutes walk from Queen Street Station and a few from Central Train Station). Within both cities there is excellent public transport. Ditto to regions beyond, with buses and trains reaching virtually all notable areas. London is 4.5 hours from Edinburgh and about 5-ish from Glasgow.
For those who do drive, it is much easier than it might sound. Yes, the steering wheel and driving lane are on the opposite side, but because everyting within the driving context is arranged accordingly, that difference becomes familiar in a matter of minutes.
    Recommendations:
    - Pre-plan a route from the rental lot to a quiet area or large parking lot where you can familiarise yourself. Beware of one-way streets in city settings.
    - Carry a road signs/street markings guide in the event you encounter unfamiliar markings (don't want your car to get towed away or pay a hefty fine).
    - Speeds are in mph, not kph.
    - If collecting the car from a city location, consider one on the perimeter rather than in the centre. Collecting and dropping off a car at the airport or a city fringe location is easier than driving busy and unfamiliar streets in the city centre...on the opposite side of the road.
