Great video. I've always wanted a solid front axel but it looks like with a little gas and a few attempts I managed to get my big ole minivan up there ha. Had fun out there with you guys even being the only Toyota.
Your rig is awesome! I’m just trying to get in on the Bronco vs Wrangler arguments going on right now... but unfortunately I don’t youtube well enough to do that. Oh, you guys need to check out his channel, it’s great so I’m pinning this comment if I can figure out how to do that.
OXFOOT I’m with you! I was going to add one, but I’m thinking hemi JL now... ok, thinking about it in my mind because all those vehicles are expensive 😂
Dewie’s Colorado Great idea for a video compare the jeep Cherokee to the Maserati Lavante. They directly built the jeep Cherokee on the same assembly line because they had the engineering for the Maserati and they both have the same technology, screens, buttons, switches, placement of everything, same transmission as grand Cherokee, built on the same assembly line as a six-figure luxury vehicle and the Maserati has a 3 L turbo built by Ferrari they take the same design and have a 2 L turbo for the Cherokee.
Thank you! I won’t, but I may try to get shorter videos posted in between the guides that are more real time like the Chihuahua Gulch video. I’m also thinking of documenting my journey in learning overlanding which I think could be fun to shoot and would allow more action. However, the guides are my favorite to make as I believe they could actually be beneficial to others so I’ll never neglect those. Thanks so much for watching and commenting!
I just found your site and Im impressed. I like your picture in a picture editing and the fact thatt you show trail info and mapping. Ive wheeled Colorado for 20 years and will keep an eye on your channel now.
This was great to watch! We've never been up that way. We have a 1995 Pathfinder that we've taken on some pretty rough trails over the years. We don't use it much anymore. We have our new Pathfinder but I don't think I would take it on these trails. After watching your video I would definitely want a Jeep if I were going to do some serious trails now. Amazing to watch the different vehicles on that terrain. Thanks for sharing! So helpful!
Thanks for watching and you’d be surprised what the pathfinder can do I’d guess. Still, I’m not that familiar with them although I almost picked up an Xterra (as a second vehicle to my old TJ) in the past. Again, thanks so much!
Yeah, they’re sweet! Zach just picked up one while his KL waits on axles to one day be shipped from MFC... so he’s wheeling that right now. Thanks for watching!
@@coloradomallcrawlers Ran it today! The weather couldn't have been more perfect. Still some great fall colors on the Aspens. No snow on the trail at all and mid 30's for temps! Lots of sunshine! Snow in the forecast for tomorrow though. We ran it all the way through Pickle Gulch, Dakota Hill and out via Moon Gulch to Hwy 119 near Rollinsville. Awesome day!
@@coloradomallcrawlers My buddy and I were talking about which trail to run and I came across your video of Pickle Gulch and said that’s the one we got a run! Lol. Thanks for the recommendation my friend!!

Great content! We recently did Pickle Gulch as well and I made a real brief video on it, but yours is so beautifully detailed. Can't wait to reference your videos in the future for other trails! Really like to know what I'm getting into before going most of the time.
I’ll check yours out! Thanks so much! I’m the same way especially since if you ask others, you’ll get answers all over the place. I figured I’ll rate them based off my Jeep (even tho not everyone will agree), but if I also show the trail and the obstacles, that should allow anyone to figure out if there’s can do it! I really appreciate the comment and you watching, thanks!
Lol, Zach’s is on the roof as I’m sure you saw. I’m currently stuck in North Colorado away from them, but we were going to do a walk around of Zach’s two Cherokees sometime.
I just ran slaughter house last week to knock off the dust on the mud tires. This trail is next. Looks cool. Thanks for your hard work making these great videos. 🙏❤
your comment about watching 4x4s other than jeeps and Toyotas was great I'm the same there are so many out there can be kind of boring that being said ive owned 2 wranglers and a 4runner so not throwing any shade lol
Don’t get me wrong I love my wrangler, and miss my old ones, but right now, the vehicle I want to be wheeling and filming is my liberty! The trail guide I release tomorrow should be interesting… it has a renegade and 4Runner.
Thanks buddy! It was a great day with awesome people for sure! Also, while editing, I noticed your Jeep makes everything look ridiculously easy 😉 Might need you for support when I do Holy Cross stock 😂
Wonder if this is where the Guthrie tune "the pickle" came from? Lotsa 2 doors, even your twin! Got in a lil bit of crawling, bring on the Ramblers! Air down and disconnect so others can learn how to wheel, or do some comparison footage, show the differences. Im thinking im going to go with manual disconnects next set of links. Broke 2 already.
I can look it up, but it’s from epidemic music. Adding music is the toughest part of editing for me. I’ll air down and disconnect on Holy Cross, Wheeler Lake and Lake Como Rd, but most of these currently filmed trails don’t warrant it (and the ride isn’t bad for me). Check out Jim Allen’s notes on the subject. Not disagreeing, but it’s not as critical either... if it was, I wouldn’t be able to get through these trails fairly easily despite full air and less articulation. Also being aired up saved me on Monday when I lost my clutch on the Coney Flats trail. Had to bypass the clutch to get off trail and into town. Would have needed someone else to air up my tires in that situation. About to go wheel, I’ll think about it tho 😉
@@coloradomallcrawlers there is a whole other debate about staying in 2wd or going in to 4hi as soon as you hit dirt too. Being an old guy ive heard and experienced many different types of wheeling. As a habit we disconnect, air down and go into 4hi as soon as we hit dirt now. Reasons? Safer, easier on equipment and better ride quality. Its a habit developed over years of experience. Better to be ready for any situation than to be caught unprepared. Read the story about the Death Valley Germans. Got stuck and perished, rescue crews aired down the missing Germans vehicle and drove it out of the stuck position it was found in. Took years to find the Germans bones though.
I’ll check it out! Also I aired down to 28psi today 😂... but it would have been a lot easier at 15. So you were correct for today’s run. I do respect your knowledge tho, but I think this is one thing we’ll like disagree on for a bit. I do 4hi instead of 2wd... only exception is a trail guide where I’m trying to come up with a rating. If I can do it 2wd, I think it gets a 0 tech rating but I gotta check my scale. I hope we get to wheel together because I think that’ll be fun! We can make fun of each other on our wheeling styles 😂. However, once Broncos hit the trails, I’ll clean up my act so they know how good these Jeeps really are 😉 (Altho not a diss to the bronco, I like them a lot).
Just curious if the Cherokee TH was able to hang with everyone else? It's fun to watch the Subarus, Trailhawks, and other FWD-biased off-roaders out on the trails.
Most of my other videos feature the KL Cherokees... they keep up with the wranglers just fine and look good on video because 3 wheeling is awesome! They also have done much harder trails than this with me (Crystal Geyser, Hackett Gulch, Kelly Flats). I consider the Cherokee TH a true off-roader! Thanks for watching and commenting, plus I agree with you, they’re fun to watch!
@@coloradomallcrawlers thanks for the reply. I've seen some of your other videos with KL THs (but probably not all of them). This one seemed like a tougher trail.
Morgan Stangle I think so... does it have a rear locker? Well that doesn’t matter. The only thing I’d suggest is make sure you have underbody protection (skids) and rock rails. If it’s wet or icy, then it’ll be a challenge for anyone. Have fun and thanks for watching!
Yeah, I agree. I just recommend those as no matter what you got, as long as you have protection, you should avoid any costly repairs. However, I wheeled for years without lockers, full skids, and sliders so I’m with you. I’m currently looking at purchasing a revel van 4x4 and that thing will definitely need full underbody protection and beefy skids 😉😂
I addressed this in the video... I shot it like a month ago and wasn’t eating breakfast so I chewed gum to hold off my hunger. I think the next ones I had already stopped doing it, but I’m not sure till I edit them. I don’t chew gum in normal life so it wasn’t a big deal to fix, but I do appreciate the input!

I’m not here to impress nor do I care, I’m here to help people who want a good trail video to plan their own wheeling or those that want to see Colorado trails. Oh, I guess I should answer your question... there were only supposed to be 5 vehicles in this video, 3 two doors, 1 4Runner, and 1 Cherokee... a lot more came. It was no big deal tho.
