Ahhh!!! I just signed for my first SOLO ART EXHIBITION in Galveston!! I feel like I am experiencing Imposter syndrome because I’m so happy shocked, and lil overwhelmed
Have a guest book! I Want to add a great idea, that I did earlier this year, when I held my first art exhibition with one of my friends; We each bought small notebooks and encouraged visitors write what they thought of the exhibition ❤️ People were queuing up to get to write a message to us and it has been such a joy revisiting the book and reading people’s comments in it 🫶
They actually make triangle cardboard corners to put on artwork but you should put them on first before the plastic wrap. Also, you should be stacking your paintings face to face. You risk damage from the hanging hardware on the face otherwise.
Can you a bit organized in your words Rafi? Just kidding. Im a bit nervous for my first art exhibition on 15 July next month with 50 landscapes acrylic paintings and being watching this video on loop for two hours and need a bless from you and all Rafi around the world. Good luck and bless you Rafi! Amen
As far as refreshments . One time I was in charge of them in one of my own exhibitions. So I made many cut out frosted cookies that looked like one of my artworks in the show. That was fun to do. People remember you for that kind of thing . Rule #6, if it's time for the reception to end. Put the wine and cheese and other nibbles away. 🍡🍷🧀. You may be surprised when the food is gone the people leave. Ha ha ha. Just like the old saying ...You don't have to go home. But you can't stay here. 👩🎨 Lastly Rafi and Klee enjoy your exhibition aka art show. Wish I lived there. I will have to attend a art show in my area. ¡Celebrate Fiesta 🎊!
@@liddybird3608 You could put them in small clear bags like a take away thing. With contact info artist cards in the or attached to the bags. And use color frosting of you art. I made my cookies small about 2"square I also made cookies the shape of a pallet 🎨. You could use premade cookies like ( Lorna Doones) and frost them abstractly with a palette knife or piping bag. You could make them to pretty to eat.🖼️
All great ideas. I would definitely make my own. I make really good cookies and love decorating them. It's fun! Especially love the palette shaped idea.

My very first public exhibit is tonight in Ludington, MI. This information was very helpful for me. Thank you very much. As nervous as I am, I'll try and have fun.
My one and only solo show happened to be the month of my birthday, so I chose music for the opening like it was a casual party. Fun stuff, things to make people happy. All of a sudden one of the people who helped me set it up changed the music to, how'd he put, to be more like a gallery since it was an art show. I flipped my lid and made him change it back. Talk about choosing music that will guarantee no one has fun or wants to spend money, holy cow. It was as much a birthday thing as it was an art show, but talk about mood dumping when he put the too-up-himself music on. I had some drawing paper out and a box of crayons, plus a roll of paper and pens so we had an exquisite corpse thing going as well.
This was super helpful! It sounds simple but the advice that I really resonated with was just to have fun and be bold! I found myself preparing for the show and overthinking and so this is really helpful! Thank you!
Thank you so much for your video! I loved having some of the laughs I needed that to shake up my energy! I have my first solo show September 28, 2023. I was approached by the gallery so this is crazy as far as I’m concerned. I’m self taught only in the last five years but I have now sold in every corner of the world. I just feel super blessed and incredibly humbled! And honestly have NO IDEA WHAT IM DOING!! So again thank you so much for your tips you reinforced some of the thoughts I was already having and helped with being able to relate to a lot of the thoughts that you were having! God bless
Thanks..I'm scared,it's alot.and I intend on the opening night to do my live music...I LOVE HOW YOU SAID ITS OK TO BE WEIRD AND HAVE A THEME..I realized I need to be myself and show My art,not what I think people want to see..PEOPLE PROBABLY WANT MY UNIQUENESS, NOT WHAT I THINK THEY WANT
Congrats a gallery opening is always a fine thing! Even if it is a small show you can be proud of yourself and your Art! You look like you knocked it out of the park! Well from what we can see! LOL! I am glad you shared this will us and I believe you will be doing this even more in the future. Take care and be well down there!

great advice, I am having my first solo show in June 2022! I think I hit on some of your advice? The show is called "Come see what inspires me!" the show will have my fused glass art but with the art I will have the working sketches, the photos I took and used as a reference, and layouts, I want to show the process to the final piece of art. The process for me is what is really interesting! All the pieces are nature and environmental themes. I like your last statement, HAVE FUN!!! I will try real hard to remember that, I am a little stressed but you helped!
I've never done an art show before. But I aspire to! And you guys have inspired me so very much to make it a big goal milestone in my life! 💖 Thank you for the tips!
Rafl, Klee, you guys are Awesome and such an inspiration to me and I will be setting up a website, within a few weeks!! I'm so grateful to you guys, because, without your incredible enthusiasm and down to earth attitude, I would not have had the guts to keep going!! @@Rafiwashere Thank you so much, I appreciate that so much!! I have only Just seen your reply, and I am so Grateful that you wrote it, thank you so much!! 💞🙂
First, thank you and Klee for making these videos, they are so helpful, inspiring and entertaining. I am hosting my 1st solo exhibit in October. I am very new to this and I am nervous and excited but also curious as to how to sell the artwork at the show. I know I have to price them but how do you let people know how to purchase? How do you handle it when someone wants to purchase your painting? Do you give them a tag to put on the piece so others know that it isn't available? Is there a certain etiquette? Thanks!
Once sold I just put a red sticker on the tag. Ideally, if it's through a gallery someone will be incharge of that, if not, get a friend to walk around with an ipad and take care of the sales.
I have questions. When you became an artist, did you have to have a business license or permit to sell or resale license? Did you need to register your business as an artist? I am trying to be an artist and sell my work but before I do, I don't know all business wise. Or can I just sell my artwork to people that are interested in my work?
No one's answered you yet... check your city's website! :D I originally picked up the phone and called the business bylaw folks and they were very rude and threatened that even a dollar of profit would land me a $10K fine if I didn't play their rules, so I went through the trouble and did it proper. Lots of people dont and just fly under the radar, but I don't like waking up at 3am with cold sweats lol. Having the license also makes me more determined to make that money back, gives me access to canada post business discount, allows me to pay taxes properly (...yay? lol). I suspect different places have different rules though, which is why it's hard to get a definitive answer from strangers online :/
I'm so sad I can't go...I wanted to see if I could find a pocketsized invisible sculpture to take home with me ! Oh, but hey! - maybe shipping prices is not too high on these? Even internationally? 😁

Those invisible sculptures are fun until someone gets injured walking into one, and wants to sue. It would be easy to hide the evidence though.
Yes! It's all fun and games until someone gets their eye poked out.
