    A trick to making it smooth is placing your liquids in a bowl first then pour the clay in the liquids and let it sit for a while. The clay will absorb the liquids and it will be smooth like butter when you stir it up.

    Hey Amber. You don't need to shampoo at all. Rinse with water only until all the clay comes out... Then you can condition twice. I use this on my hair a lot.

      I agree. I understand the frustration of using clay. I usually use a color applicator bottle first to directly apply my shampoo of choice to my scalp and rinse. Then, I use this clay as a clarifying shampoo, with attention of my strands rather than scalp. Rinses out much easier and curls are sooo defined! :)

    If you put a plastic cap, or bag, over your hair the clay doesn't dry to a crisp. However, you STILL get the same results. It makes rinsing out SO much easier! It's the only way I'm able to incorporate more clay marks.

    For y’all saying it’s dry and it sets on your hair, a tip I learned from dyeing hair, spray the inside of your shower cap or whatever you use to cover it with water. Added moisture🖤. You can take off the shower cap and spritz whenever you think it’s too dry

  • @justKKB
    @justKKB 3 ปีที่แล้ว +11

    Love clay masks! Been doing them for years. I don't let it dry though--drying clay continues to draw moisture out of your strands along with detoxing...so I cover it and leave it in for 30 mins. Does the JOB! I also use ACV to activate the clay, then use water to get my desired consistency. Less smell and works great on my kinks. I'll combine rhassoul & bentonite clays most often--get a washing and detoxing experience at once that's safe and not drying. A great shampoo replacement!!! I never shampoo afterwards; this does the trick!

    Similar to some of the other comments, I recommend the following:
    *Cover your hair with a plastic bag. The clay should not dry on your hair as that can damage it
    *No shampoo is needed as the clay cleanses your hair
    *I have tried it with Castor oil only (no other oil) and it was amazing. I added some drops of essential oil to the castor oil
    *For the face, try Rose water instead. I also found the ACV mixture to be too drying and harsh for my overall face but it is a good spot treatment for snall areas or a zit/pimple.

      Yes, very true... I always add my apple cider vinegar unto my home made aloe Vera juice to balance the pH, before mixing with my clay and oils. It even makes application and washing out much easier because of the slippery nature of the aloe vera.

I used the Moroccan Red Clay, amla powder, rosemary oil, lavender oil, hibiscus tea (instead of water) & hibiscus infused oil. Then I mixed that with a little deep conditioner from Shea moisture acv & castor oil mask

    Have you ever tried yoghurt for your hair? It works very soothing and hydrating, especially for curls!!
    Just mix some Yoghurt, honey and lemon juice and leave it in your hair for 30 minutes. Rinse thoroughly and let air dry. For extra richness you can mix some olive- or avocado oil.

    I would be too scared to let the clay dry on my hair. I usually put a plastic cap over my hair to keep it from drying for like 30 minutes then wash it off. And I wouldn't shampoo afterwards, your hair is more defined if you don't shampoo it out. Rather rinse thoroughly with water then condition your hair. I usually don't have trouble rinsing it off and I have super kinky hair. But great video🥰

I used with avocado oil once and my hair was a hot mess as well but I can put 5 drops of either Peppermint or tea tree oil and it worked great. I feel the carrier oil just made it harder to clean my scalp and hair but a few drops of the right essential oil still allowed the clay to do it's thing while still keeping moisture

      Jasmine S no it’s not. Dermatologist do not recommend it. It can cause serious facial burns

    • @sleepytan0730
      @sleepytan0730 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@PB-xr6yi of course putting it straight up on your face without diluting it is bad. There are many different natural/homeopathic skin and body products that require dilution of some sort. For example, some essential oils need carrier oils in order to not get wrecked by the full strength. Same goes for the ACV just dilute it with some water and remember to moisturize after. Also, make sure if you are using a facial wash go with a gentle one that doesn't strip or scrub all the oils and moisture from your skin. Skin stripped of moisture and oils will burn no matter what you put on it, especially if it's dry and irritated. Salicylic acid and benzoyl peroxide are notorious for that. I just use tatcha camellia cleansing oil and on real grimy days that with boscia detoxifying charcoal face wash. Another good bar is the Van-cream soap bar.
