When you silk press or use any heat protectant, you have to use a clarifying shampoo or regular sulfate shampoo to get rid of the silicone from the protectant.
The wash after your silk press didn’t revert properly because the silicone was still on your hair repelling water. The strands weren’t able to take in the moisture so you wound up with dry hair.
The acv this time around was able to break it down, that’s why it felt better immediately after, but a good shampoo would have done that. Sulfate free shampoos don’t remove water resistant silicones.

Exactly!!! It wasn't the method that bought her hair back, it was because she did a good wash. The shampoo, the ACV, and the mask broke up all that build up.
She could have save so much time by just doing 3 washing with a clarifying shampoo🤣.

@@user-bk9xs3hy7y I think so. Most of the youtubers use oil and say it works for them but others had bad experiences with it, every hair is different. Some hair stylists think it isn't good because of what I commented before. I have a similar problem to yours but with shea butter and I stopped using it for a few washes and I think it reduced the itchiness and dandruff. I would recommend you that next wash you clarify your hair to get rid of the oil (with a sulfate shampoo) and rinse thoroughly, apply conditioner avoiding scalp, rinse again and style if you want. If you feel your hair and scalp is clean, the next washes you can use a sulfate free shampoo. Wash more often if necessary or if your scalp itches in a short time, your hair will be more hydrated with time. Try to avoid oils and shea butter for a month for example, and see if the itchiness gets better.

Glad it came back. You didn't leave it on for long enough for it to matter, but if you do, I suggest doing the clay either before shampooing as a prepoo (especially if you use ACV instead of water) or right after shampooing and before conditioning/deep conditioning. Clay can really pull moisture from your hair and dry it out so a good deep condition after is really nice. This matters more if you leave it on for 20-60 mins, so just a heads up!

@@apara2005 it's a myth to think the natural hair community think you should avoid to wash you hair. It's always "shampoo every weeks" or " shampoo every other weeks" . This myth was about people who used to flat iron or hot comb or to relax their hair. They avoid water in order to keep the hair straight. Same for people who use sew-ins weaves and wigs. They don't want to mess up the added hair by washing it too often.
The amount of product used depends of the style you want to achieve. If it's a wash and go with very defined curls using only one product isn't enough. If I do that I just end up with a very dry mess. I already tried.
If it's a twist out, it end up frizzy as hell if I don't seal it.

@@LoXena hello 👋🏾👋🏾. What i meant was we don't need to use half the bottle of conditioner to achieve moisture. We for sure need to multiple kinds of products (conditioner, sealant, etc) to keep out hair healthy. If one needs to use that much conditioner, then the conditioner is not the one for them. When it comes to gels, it definitely depends on what style you are tying to achieve. You're right. Some may need lots, while some may need a drop.
When I said there's a myth about not washing hair for natural, I meant not washing with a shampoo. A co wash, Rinse, and clays aren't going to properly wash out product build up. One needs a shampoo.

I need to say that apple cider vinegar lowers de ph of the hair...it closes the cuticles of the hair. The best way to use it is to deep mosturise, and as a final step use the vinegar to seal all the moisture inside the hair strands. If used before, might make your hair stiff and you are not absorbing all the moisture.

Welcome sis, I do Acv rinses once a month, does wonders indeed.
Restores your hairs ph and all that.
I personally prefers the bentonite with Acv too.
The clay actually rinses out from the scalp easy love, you wouldn’t find bits and pieces.

Looks greaaat, I'm glad the curls came back 🥳 I think the problem was the oil coated the hair so much that created a layer that made water and other products hard to absorb, I think clarifying with a soft sulfate shampoo would have been good too. I wish you could do the 30 day hair detox challenge, I think your hair would look bomb!

I always end my hair washing with an apple cider vinegar rinse that I do NOT rinse off. I dilute it more though (2-4 table spoons of ACV to a water bottle amount of water) I leave it in and it prevents frizz and makes my hair so shiny and soft. Once it is fully dried, trust me it does not smell so don't be afraid! :)

After 20 something days your hair had a lot of build up. I'm glad it went back to normal. I can't do clay in my hair, it dries my hair really bad. I would have done from the very beginning a good clarifying shampoo, then I would have done Olaplex No.3 (I just love how my curly hair loves it) and then a deep conditioner that had good protein and good moisture . I do straighten my hair a few times a year and this combo at least always works on my hair.

Be careful about adding scalp oil to your hair prepoo unless you follow with a surfactant (eg sls) because oil is a hydrophobic barrier, which prevents hydration getting in. In the Loc method, it’s doing the opposite, ie keeping it in.

That’s some nice thick strong hair u got there, I’m on the thin side and it’s still a lot of work, thats why I stick to a 4 ingredient pre-poo/conditioner I make myself, to detangle, moisturize hydrate and heal my hair & scalp before shampooing this way I don’t need to deep condition after shampooing just a conditioning rinse and leave in don’t have time to keep going back & forth to the sink, I rinse out my pre-poo, wash my hair, condition & rinse at one time & done, all the work is in the detangling

ACV wash is a norm after I go straight. For the last 5 years regardless if or not I straighten, I just do it every 5-6 weeks. It helps growth and health of your hair. Glad it worked for you.
