That tracking shot of Billi running was so full of emotions, I couldn't help but feel the pain that was pushing her to get to the hospital. And I felt like I was running with her.
For those that can't read Chinese, this scene I think was kind of funny because the slow mo of them walking was them as a family walking out of the hospital. (hinting at the success of con-ing their grandma obv with the underlying sadness. For people that do not understand why they would need to con their grandma, watch the move. It is explained. Also, overall a fantastic movie!)
I’ve been putting off watching this movie. My grandmother was Chinese (mom was adopted and her dad married a woman from Hong Kong) and it came out a few months after my Pau Pau’s death (Chinese for grandma) and I couldn’t watch it because every ounce of me feels what Billi feels in this movie. And it’s something hard knowing someone is dying. Especially someone you love so much and hold so dear. She was in the delivery room with my mom when I was born. Idk this movie, Wish I Was Here and This Is Where I Leave You have significant meanings to me. It describes different aspects of my family.
When I'm taking pictures, I usually ask if pig meat is fat or not and they would answer fat back. Not sure where this even came about but I've been doing it for the past decade. 猪肉肥不肥? 肥。
2:40 when the grandma basically said "told you so" about not worrying. Oh the atmosphere/suspense was painful especially knowing they has interfered with the report (results) at 2:16

I didn't know the Chinese said "eggplant" when they get their picture taken. I learned something new.

I think this was the moment Billi finally agrees to join the con wholeheartedly, she was reluctant the entire movie
I think everyone anyone with any type of elderly parental figure understands what Billi goes through in this movie
