This is exactly what we want to build for this couple of Green frogs that started coming around our shop, this looks daunting to say the least but we're gonna try!
Dude. I know this video is 3+ years old but man what a great walkthrough. I recently came across a 1.5" Green Frog froglet while herping who is missing an eye and a leg- I couldn't help but bring him/her in. Knowing s/he will be growing faster than i anticipate, i wanted to dive into exactly how naturalistic paludariums are built. So many tutorials skip over steps that are assumed must already be known, such as parts used for a canister filter. THANK YOU for being so thorough and easy to follow! My little mutant green frog and I have been blessed with your generosity in making this video! It'll be quite the feat to accomplish this on a 75 gallon scale, but i can't commit to something unless it's done RIGHT, and you provided me with the opportunity to do so! You're the best!
hey the frog at 20:55 isn't a green frog, its a bullfrog, you can tell because the 2 ridges on the back that are found on green frogs and most lithobate frogs is not present on bullfrogs, as seen on that frog.
That’s correct. The frog initially found was a juvenile Bullfrog. It was only when I took the pics up close I noticed. Let him go the same day in the stream by my house (where I found him). I’ve got an adult green frog and several tadpoles in there now
@@slitheringsalamanderscapes6887 I had to bring my goldfish in for the winter, for various reasons, and wound up with a bull frog also. Now I need to know how to keep him alive all winter. I'm going to build similar to what you did
They're absolutely beautiful and I think if you're going to get another aquatic frog besides pickerel frog because those will be just adorable then the African dwarf frog or the African clawed frog would be amazing cuz they're both 100% aquatic the African dwarf frog Max's out about 2in and the African clawed frog gets about maybe 6 in I have both of these species they especially the African clawed frogs have amazing personalities and will come up to you kind of like a salamander would they will also recognize feeding times
Have you considered adding any other native pond species? I think a tank like this would be really cool with a few small shiners and some crawfish as well
I wonder where your located. I have spanish ribbed newts 3 years old fully aquatic although they like something that floats to once in a blue get out. Just curious 🤔 👀
@@slitheringsalamanderscapes6887 Haha! Glad to know that! That was funny. I'm glad you realized it was a bullfrog before it grew into a 6" monstrosity.

Awesome!! Hopefully the video helpful!

Thank you very much!! I really appreciate the kind words! I’m glad the tutorial could be helpful!
Wood frogs are awesome and fun to watch.
It's pretty interesting here in Connecticut they live in mammal burrows
you have the best paludariums
Thank you!!
13:54 LOL thought you said a “ pawn store “ I was like who tf pawns plants 😂😂😂
Haha. Yes it did. Pond / pawn ha
Hey Mike! That’s an awesome paludarium. I’m sure the frogs will love it
I totally would love to set up a paludarium one day!
Love to see it! The native common stuff is super interesting and you present them perfectly!👌🏾
I know you were going for a pond setup but honestly, this is the best creek paludarium I've seen
Thanks!
Keep up the great work💪
Nice bullfrog.
looks good, spotted turtle next? ;)

You could do water Spangles

I have a bunch of ghost shrimp and pond snails. Maybe would consider some tiny native fish
Where, oh where do you guys find the Pond and Stone foam? My Lowe’s and HD do not carry it. Order online?
Yeah, I almost always order it online. Home Depot never has it. Sometimes smaller hardware stores carry it, but not many

I’m in the east coast of the US!
Any way to do this without drilling through the glass? Can I use a regular filter that I can submerge in the water?
Great bud! Thanks
Sure. I just prefer using the plumbing on the outside of the tank
Do you know what the name of that grass is?
did you holesaw through glass?
I did….diamond bit for bulkhead holes for all my paludariums
solid effort my guy! i always get scared drilling through glass @@slitheringsalamanderscapes6887
I mean, if they are selling them at a pond store they are getting into the wild.
Yep, agreed
that frog is actually a bullfrog, not a green frog, you can tell because it does not have the ridges behind its eyes.
Yep. He was released the very next day once I realized that. I raised several green frog tadpoles in this build and they are all adults now.
Uh, you might actually have yourself a bullfrog, and if so your tadpole is definitely at risk. I hope it doesn't outgrow your nice paludarium.
Ha! Yes! It was a juvenile bullfrog and released the very next day. I was able to procure several green frog tadpoles that are all now adults
