    I really love your build and that you talk about all the errors you made as well how much time it consumes. It really helps me with my own build even if I already did so much wrong ;) Thanks a lot!

    Thank you Chris.
    For anyone interested in doing this. To add to what Chris said about adding water and keeping the sediment down, you can pre-rinse your gravel. This will help wash off any excess chalk on the gravel. I pour my gravel in a pasta strainer and run the water over it.

      Yup! Forgot to mention mine were washed pre use but the bigger stones have their share of dirt and dust 😅

    You know I’ve been building enclosures for 50 years started as a young boy using hardware cloth and glass ... now I too use expanding foam and all the great stuff that is available ! But I’ve not had any animals skinned scaled feathers or hairy destroy a enclosure I’ve made I build it for the pets I have or will have . And if you get it right you reap rewards like babies or interaction that’s rarely seen ! Too me that’s a successful enclosure that your pet feels at home in . Great job Chris!

    I have this exact same tank with a pump and waterfall (foamed background too!) and your use of the small tanks as overflow is fantastic! if i ever need to rebuilt my tank (or make another one) I'm going to add that feature in! gorgeous setup!

  • @JonJoLen
    @JonJoLen 3 ปีที่แล้ว +9

    This is really pretty! I just recently thought about wanting to get frogs, and I’m a long way away from doing this kind of thing, but it’s definitely and inspiration! This is weird to ask, but have you thought about doing like a livestream/long recording of the tank? It’d be really nice to have something like that playing in the background while being able to watch the frogs and aquatic animals being in their environment!

  • @ThePicoProject
    @ThePicoProject 3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    I've never seen wiring and tubing hidden in plain sight with silicone and moss/sand/coir... which is strange, given that it looks pretty good and makes maintenance on the pump so much easier. Would love to see an update on this tank in the future.

    • @thombaz
      @thombaz ปีที่แล้ว

      It is much easier if you make a 'tube' for it before foaming, where water can drain in. That way you don't need to hide the pump/tube/cables baceuse they are under the background foam and you can pull all of the stuff out if zou need to change or service the pump.

    Love the effort you put in on this enclosure but when I owned frogs I made sure to use only things I found in the natural environment as frogs are very sensitive to chemicals that exist in synthetic products. Id try to avoid paints, glues, plastics, tap water anything artificial really. I do love the way you used the moss on the walls though, I wish I had done that....

    Why did you pick Rhacophorus Norhayatii? I haven't seen any other videos with these frogs, were these wild captured?
    How are they doing? Are you happy with your choice of frog?
    I will start my own build with a 60x45x90 tank and might I want to get a Rhacophorus as well (Norhayatii or Reindwardtii if I can find a place where they sell them)

    So it’s not any use for this tank but that hole you burned into the pipe you can use milliput it comes in different colours/hardness (I believe one is brown) the white one is the stuff they use to repair white good like washing Machines it’s also the smoothest, the grey stuff (I had on hand as I was a table top gamer and it’s much cheaper than GW greenstuff) I had to use as an emergency repair on a fish tank where the silicone separated from the glass it wasn’t pretty as I had to use quite a lot down the whole seem of a hex shaped tank on the front too but it held perfectly.

    What I did is mix dry peat with black silicon, then using disposable rubber gloves smeared it on using my hands. Then grab some more dry peat and smooch it on top of that. It makes a great surface for moss and liverwort to grow. Also, use only 100 percent silicon and nothing with any anti-mold properties.
