I remember leaving work early quite a few times just so I wouldn’t have missed the Fortnite event. I felt like I couldn’t miss it because it was something special I had to see. It was truly an unforgettable experience.
Optimus teaching Slone to be a better person sound SO AMAZING, and it makes me wish it happened. Imagine Zuko interacting with Foundation or Superman talking to Jonsey and actually having an impact on the story or the characters.
Absolutely! Optimus is my most favorite character! I wish we still had story! The fortnite characters interacting with all those more famous characters in the comics was brilliant and so cool to see! And i felt Donald mustard felt that too! Wish they were incorporated into the fortnite story more, or at least we still had a story progression. It was getting super interesting with the aliens and cube queen and stuff going on with slone and the 7 several years back.😅😎👍🏻
I wanted a Slone redemption arc so bad. And now idk if it’ll happen. Hopefully they’ll embrace the storyline of Jones trying to find Slone. Maybe she’s been captured by the Last Reality or something. Perfect excuse to bring her back.
Optimus is the perfect person to help her. Slone sees the Loopers as expendable because there are infinite realities, infinite versions of them. They don’t matter to her. But Optimus is one of the most compassionate individuals out there. He sees the value in all sentient life, no matter how insignificant. Him showing her that in just a mini comic or something would be an incredible use of the character for story purposes.
Although yes, just saving Peely throughout an entire season storyline is kind of stupid. It seems like they might be setting up for more, in one of the storyline quest this season. The Oracle says that peely is some kind of being holding all of reality together so they might be setting up for more, but if it was that Peely being kidnapped should’ve been the subplot not the main plot.

Something pretty interesting I figured out since Donald's recent Interview is that the final dialogue from Geno to The Foundation in the Marvel comics is also a farewell message from Donald to Epic, how they claimed their methods are better and now have to prove it, otherwise it would be the end of everything... 😔
I doubt it since comics are made way in advance compared to release. That's likely due to the fact that the comics have to be drawn, coloured, the text has to be added in, and then the comic has to be mass produced for release. I imagine Donald Mustard wrote those lines somewhere between late 2020 to early 2021, so before he decided to leave due to Epic's focus on the metaverse.
@@Adamairball it's tricky, we can't know for sure but it could be possible signs started showing by then, that maybe there were disagreements back then too but they didn't take effect yet, and I imagine this would also be at a little further in since it's the last issue of the comic
The story was what got hooked me on Fortnite in the first place and it's disappointing to see how it's been slowly phased out ever since the Collision event. In current day, each season has it's own self contained story that is loosely connected to the prior. I was so passionate about all the interesting characters and world building over the past 5 years and to have that taken away just makes me feel sad.
I feel you bro. I started playing in Ch2 S2, the best season to date, in my opinion. And I followed the storyline from day one. I can’t tell you how excited I was during the Zero Crisis event, seeing jones, the foundation, and all that. When chapter 3 started, specifically season 2, I got really high hopes for the story. Slone was back, the foundation was alive, and the rest of the Seven were all present. It seemed like everything in the chapter would build to one final confrontation between the Seven and the IO, but it didn’t. Vibin was a fun season, but it wasn’t a fun FORTNITE season, it fits more in Apex or COD. Then Paradise completely shut down any excitement I had. I got so invested that I actually started writing a book of the storyline, starting in season 5. And now it just seems like when Donald left, Fortnite lost the spark that it had for so many years (no transformers pun intended.) Interested to see what they do, but nowadays I’m more interested in the gameplay, which is not what I ever thought I would say about Fortnite.
And part of that intrigue was “who is this Midas guy? Why did he try and break the loop? Is the loop a bad thing? Why did someone JUST NOW try to break the loop? Why was he stopped.” And that was what made me follow the story so carefully. When season 4 started, I got so excited because it was marvel, but also because I could still see the story from season 2 carrying over. And what happened when season 4 ended? It went right back to the story. Jones is my favorite Fortnite character, and my second favorite skin (first is midas, obviously) and it was so cool seeing him slowly realize what the Order was up to. And I remembered something Clark forgot to mention in the video as to how they flushed out characters…REALITY LOGS. Those were my favorite things to listen to during the season, and we haven’t really gotten anything like them. There is still a chance to bring back the old story, but honestly, with Festival, Rocket Racing, and Lego Fortnite here now, I just can’t see it thriving. Hopefully Wen can find a way to integrate the old story.
Without a consistent storyline and live events this game is pretty bland and boring to me. Honestly no point in playing it anymore considering I get bored from new seasons the first 2 weeks.
I don’t mind collaborations but when it’s too much, it becomes overkill to the point where it completely overshadows what Fortnite’s original story is trying to tell. This is why I never find the game to be as engaging as it use to be anymore and I knew that they would’ve went down this horrible road since the earlier seasons of Chapter 2 when collabs started to be introduced into their BPs as the secret skins.
Overwatch is the biggest example of a great game with great lore killed off by corporate greed. They made a sequeal to only kill the story mode and now its a dead pvp game just like COD. Now im watching FN do the exact same crap with its lore.
to be fair overwatch actually has original characters that they still use in media which makes them iconic and recognisable and although not thriving it's definitely not dead either despite what people say
I think the metaverse is the worst thing they could have possibly done. Every single thing they do to fortnite makes it less like what people know fortnite as
I started Playing Fortnite in Chapter 2 Season 4 and I've been playing Since. I can confirm that Playing anytime between Chapter 1 Season 1 and Chapter 3 Season 2 could give you some of the most unique memories ever. I really miss what Fortnite used to be and Epic clearly Doesn't Know or Doesn't Care about how to make a Good Game Only Donald Mustard did. I had some of the most Amazing and Unique memories of my Life speculating and being excited about the Storyline of Fortnite back then with my Friends and I will never Ever forget it. I don't say that Fortnite shouldn't have evolved into something Else BUT they Should have given Donald's Storyline the Conclusion it actually Deserved.
I remember being super exited for live events and things changing on the map, advancing a storyline and making me feel like im part of something bigger
Fortnite Battle Royale Always had lore, something i loved was the descriptions of skins that would say where they're from on the map For example Red Knight being "The red menace of Anarchy Acres"
I agree. Also with Transformers with good story telling, Beast Machines and Energon raise their hands. I remember buzz about Fortnite and the comet, long before I even played. The black hole also got attention in the news. What other game has had that happen?! I knew then there was something of a story; however back then I thought of it as a kid's game. Then I first played it in Chapter 2 Season 3 and I had no idea why everything was water. I thought the game was supposed to be like that. I watched my friend's kid play when I babysat and played a handful of games with him in Chapter 2 seasons 4 and 5 but I didn't pay attention to the story, but I was wowed by all the Marvel characters and Predator. Like what is this game? I attempted to play on my own one day, saying I'll try to get into it and was wowed by Zero Crisis; however, I kick myself for not playing beyond that session because I bought the battle pass thinking I was only getting Agent Jones (my very first skin because I recognized him as the main character from a Fortnite vs TF2 video). I barely got much of that battle pass and if Epic ever decided to let people finish battle passes, I hope I get the chance. But Chapter 2 Season 7, I was hooked and I started to learn about the story more by watching TH-cam videos... and I completed that battle pass 99% not unlocking like 3 Kymera styles. Loved Operation: Skyfire and the Chapter 2 finale got me hyped to see what's next. I loved the Resistance season as a whole and the Vibin' season, from Rave Cave, Evie, the music packs, the Steady emote... but season 4 seemed to go astray especially with Fracture not making sense to me. Then Amie's story was just left there. Ok maybe they'll come back to her and the Seven... Is the Nothing coming? Nope... What happened to the Ageless... Shapeless man? And now, where did Jones and the time machine go? And speaking about the collabs... they had a part in the story. I was excited Optimus had a part. But what did the Turtles do? Actually, any of the anime show characters... what did they do for the story? What did Avatar do for the story? If they included the collabs in the story, it wouldn't seem like the story is lacking. I am hoping they start paying attention to the story again. It can't be over. but if it is, please let us know and not keep us hanging on... Also bring back older characters and develop them. Tie everyone's story together in some freaky way that make heads explode...
I think the best outcome is a snyder cut type scenario. Where after a few years we get a donald mustard fortnite movie where we can see his full vision for the fortnite storyline
I've been playing since season 9, and I've witnessed the storyline going crazy chapter 2 was honestly the best chapter for the storyline. Ch3 had a good start but a rough end And after that it started to fall fast Now, the storyline. or whatever is left of it, Is on life support.
that is what i have been thinking reasently too. like we have a season devoted to greek gods, YOU KNOW HOW MANY INTERESTING STUFF THEY COULD HAVE IMPLEMENTED IF THEY TOOK ADVANTAGE OF IT. like at the beginning of the season, it seemed like they were actully doing it. we got midas back, had a whole gamemode, fun items and weapons, and the story was just getting interesting again. then avatar happened. like dont get me wrong, i love avatar. its litterly one of my favorite shows of all time. however, the problem is that it completely derailed the season. instead of getting more interesting story beats, we got overpriced product placements
that's like saying "oh chapter 1 season 4 started with a superhero and space theme and we got new modes and dusty divot but then we got thanos and that completely derailed it" and if you actually cared to interact with characters or do the story quests, you'd know that the story has been about building an alliance with different gods to fight or persuade zeus, so of course its going to feel like theres no interesting story beats while we are in the middle of a prepping phase, and midas and the crew was literally a side-story
@@geeooo oh there's so much more story than people realise, its just not fed to them on a silver platter, plus people wont want to look for it because then they wont have something to complain about
@@jibaZoomi what makes you think i didn't do that? because i did. as a matter of fact, im almost done with the story line missions. besides there was a difference with the story in chapter 1 season 4 when it came to story telling. sure the quest themselfs didn't corilate with the story what so ever, but what you got from completing every week did. aka the loading screans. they were the main indicator that was telling us what was going on in the game. not only that, but they also did small map changes that showed what was going on in the actual game, showing its going on in actual time. sure the midas stuff was mostly a side story, but its still was something that impacted the main game as a whole. sure we got a mini event at the beginning of the season, that was cool. but did we get anything bigger or more grand then that, no. and from what there setting up now, is kinda underwelming. i wish this season did something better then just storyline quests and one mini event considering how big the greek gods are in the fortnite world. like every fortnite island is litterly named after the greek gods. i wish to see the island change depending on whats going on within the story itself rather than it just being explained through dialog. the best thing that the storyline does is that it changes the game baced on whats going on within the story itself. that's why fortnitemares use to be so good besides the last one. im more critical here because ive seen them do better then just simple challenges. the storyline quest can be good if it was just mix some of the stuff that was going on in the story into the main gameplay except for just killing bosses or giving a tenice ball to cerberous
also I was always so exited for story related live events and seasons felt important to a story line not just random stuff put together, that's why chapter 5 so far feels lost
Another example about loosing familiarity is look at big businesses from the 80's and 90's. Look up pictures of how McDonald's used to look, how taco bell used to look, burger king etc. Heck look at other corporations that aren't fast food like Walmart or target. Now look at them today and how grey and lifeless and corporate they all look. This is the same direction epic is heading in with fortnite within the next couple years, especially with that big Disney collab.
What happened to fortnite’s story is fairly similar to what happened to the Paper Mario games of all things. The first three games were all highly story-driven, with a significant focus on characters and its worldbuilding alongside gameplay, and then it completely changed once new highers arrived at the scene, ones with a completely different, and worse vision for the series, and now that series became a shadow of its former self for 13 years until very recently.
I started fortnite in chapter 2 season 1. Just thinking about my experience of fortnite in the chapter 2 early chapter 3 time frame shoots this feeling of nostalgia through me that gets me sad because I may never experience it again. I just remember playing with my friend group and exploring the storyline and the intricacies of the characters with chapter 4 shutting that all down. It all came down to fracture where I was exited to see the relationship between geno, the herald, the last reality and of course the seven. No one got any answers from that event and that was the start of this sense of incompleteness like we were just about to get the answers to who geno actually was and what the nothing was. Fortnite was truly finding its way during that time, and just like every other good tv series, fortnite may have truly created a unique identity with its characters. Now I can only trigger nostalgia to that time period and remember how special it was. I also feel bad for Donald Mustard but am greatful for his contributions for an almost epic story he was and was about to create. I just hope that epic and Charlie Wen can see our perspective and realize what the true DNA of fortnite actually is.
Ok but the fact donald was going to keep chapters as 2 or 3 years long instead of the regular 1 that epic is doing now just kinda... Sucks. I remember seeing concept art for chapter 4's MEGA season and Last Resort season being labled as Chapter 3. Do you know how much more cool chapter3 could have been if it was a proper 8-10 season Chapter 3 is already one of my favourite islands Sure we only have 5 but the fact that atleast for me C3 is up there with C1 for me is insane Could honestly have been been the best island for me, if they did do the chapter 4 seasons straight into OG after Season 8 would honestly have been amazing. In an ideal world we would still have Donald at Epic. Best we can hope for is if they hire more emoloyees for the 3 FiF modes and let the live event animators go back to doing their original jobs
To me it felt like chapter 3 was Donald Mustards way of cramming the story in before epic stopped it. Also I felt like the OG season was the perfect way to reintroduce the story with all the time travel stuff, I was super hyped for the live event but they just didn’t so it just felt empty.
I wish there was more Story of Ch.4 S2 as well. Thunder ⚡ and Evie 😎 were Awesome and the Peace Syndicate's job of bringing the Clans together had A Lot of Opportunities. ✌️
I honestly played BR cause of my investment to the storyline. I always wanted to see what was gonna happen next or what we can learn about the island and the characters we meet. Now I have nothing to look forward to. No return of Blevin, revealing The Nothing, or seeing if the Cube Queen or Geno will have a comeback. All I have left is Save the World and the stories they’ve told a hundred times, though I still enjoy them nonetheless, like rewatching a series that I enjoy. And I love the little lore bits they have relating to BR, just makes you wanna theorize about how they could connect. But it’s just sad Epic just threw away the story to sell the game
ITS TRUE that a good storyline isnt necessary for a br game... but then that good storyline was one of the key things that separated fortnite and make it unique from other br games
I constantly find myself returning to c2s5 skins, Because even if it's small, they all still had interesting personalities. I really don't find myself that interested in 4 or 5, even Some 3 skins, Because they have 0 character, there is no substance to them besides looking cool.
I miss the loading screens, they did a great job at telling the story. Most if the time with the voice line quests, I don't remember any if it because I am in a fight when the voices are talking
Live events got me into Fortnite. I had tried it in season 4, and didn’t like it much. But months later, with talk about a new live event and watching previous events, I gave it a second try and loved it. It was right at the end of season 8 too, so I got to experience the volcano event, which got me hooked from there on out. They dropped the ball after Ch 3 season 2, which is just so upsetting to me. They had such a good storyline, and just ruined it. Everything after that season felt so watered down story wise, I started to lose interest.
I started off just playing with friends. The average guy, that didn't care about Fortnite and didn't get the appeal. In solo queues, I would need around and fish. Started getting more into it, when they expanded fish types and methods to catch them. Got better at the game, to keep people from running my moments of fishing. Then I started listening to the audio logs that the Scientist made. The story is what made me fall in love with the game. Started looking back and catching up with lore. Helped me understand why the war was happening.
I originally played starting halfway through chapter 2, season 7; and stopped sometime right before the end of chapter 3 season 2. I used to be *super* invested in the story and original characters. The gameplay is still fine, but I always think about those older seasons instead.
I started playing in chapter 2 and I can confirm, not being a sweaty 24/7 player, jumping to it again after losing my apple/epic account because the war shows me that those days where the day Loving Lego Fornite tho
I started playing middle of Chapter 2 Season 7, and I've been a bit disappointed with Fortnite for a few seasons at least. And you're saying that I started during peak time, that's probably why I'm feeling the blahs about it recently so strongly, I came in at a very rich time. Have you noticed it's not just Live Events not happening recently, but the Soundwave Series hasn't happened either, and this last time they didn't do anything really special for Coachella with quests to get XP, just added to Jam Stage and a bunch of stuff to the Shop
I’m no veteran but I did play from marvel season and faithfully play even up to now. I’ve invested in every starter pack, stw pack, crew since then. And for the first time ever I feel unmotivated to play Fortnite. It’s not the same
I always mainly played fortnite for the story... Nowadays I just log in once a week or once a month to finish my BP in bot lobbies. Thats it. And yes, killing the amount of live events really gave me the sign fortnite isnt anymore.
100% I don’t care much about fortnite now only buy battlepasses if the skins r really good and sometimes the shop but i don’t revere fortnite to any extent like before, watching those events with ither people in a pvp game was so cool, felt like a community and I really miss that.
donald makes a lot of mistakes, like making the face of 2 of the main story characters of 2 irl actors, making expensive to keep in the storyline. another mistake is the storyline having a lot of problems with still a lot or unrisolved stuff. with the multiverse introduced in ch5, they reduced the budget for the storyline, like live events for that stupid multiverse but we still have story missions and we know whats happening in this chapter
I love this community and how hopeful we all are in this game but they’ve made so many mistakes I can’t even count them on all 10 fingers, they need a og classic mode like STW where you can choose what YOU the player wants to play.
I've been playing Fortnite since Chapter 1 Season 2, so I was there to witness the build up of the story. And imo, it basically ended with the Chapter 3 Season 4 live event, which felt rushed. It felt like it was missing the whole first half because there was no build up to the confrontation with the Herald. Maybe if we had a whole sequence of the desperate struggle against the Herald and the Chrome, and an explanation for the result, that End event would have been better received. The evidence of a deleted scene with a Last Reality ship appears to prove that we were missing more of the story. Then in Chapter 4 it was basically dead silence. Not a single Live event. Important story beats like Sloan's actions, and the heist and use of the time machine all occurred off screen. Chapter OG Season OG was a nice change of pace (albeit short lived), where it actually felt like there was some story progression. I didn't mind that it was a retool of the original End event because it had been 4 years since Chapter 1 ended. And now Chapter 5 feels just as empty, story-wise, as Chapter 4. The only story beats we got was the war against Zeus. The Oracle did prophecize the Wasteland, but so far Wrecked hasn't offered any new material beyond the hint of the Chaos Agent's return, and yes, there was Midas' return, but Midas didn't have much of a role beyond the C2S2 storyline.
Chapter 5 started alright. But man, Season 3 really killed the game for my friend group. It's just not enjoyable. We really started in the mix of chapter 4, and it was incredible. Now, it's a shadow of what it once was!
Finally!!!! Someone talked about this. I wanted to be invested in new and unique storylines for characters. Collabs are fine but if they add nothing, in my opinion feel stale and wasted potential. Another is that collabs are way too frequent and hype for their introduction feels like “just another collab.”
Maaan.. I am new to Fortnite and I am both sad what I missed out on and that Donald stopped working on Fortnite and that he didn't get the required resources.
This is ehy i rarely get the original skins in the shop because i have no connection to them. They're just skins they have zero backstory unlike the collabs
i was so annoyed bc i have been looking for a greek mythology season for YEARS! now we have it i have never been so disappointed. the most fun i had in ANY season was c2 s7 with the aliens bc of the story influencing every aspect of the gameplay. i get they want to compete with roblox but they have lost what made fortnite special. i really wish epic looked to games like splatoon where the storytelling is so deep & layered that even if someone gets bored of the game itself they’ll probably still be invested in the franchise
Thank you for addressing this I haven't really been enjoying fornite because of this and I don't see anyone talking about this and it's left me feeling separated from the rest of the community and game that I love. So I greatly appreciate you making this video because It gives me hope knowing I'm not the only one who thinks this way about how Fortnite changed.(Also have you noticed that the trailers look weird now I don't know what they changed but they look super strange to me.)
So sad that the story ended unfinished I was really invested into the story being told and epic games took it away because they can’t stop pushing this metaverse narrative down everybody’s throats this is why I don’t care about the game anymore
Look Ik this will be a little against the point of this video, but unlike the live events we’re not missing a storyline necessarily. The Time Machine stuff with Slone and Jones was happening, the stuff with that robot ai “Evie” or something was happening, everything is still happening but it’s just a tiny bit worse. The only thing that’s making it slow down is this chapter, because it’s sort of a reboot from what the Time Machine did that SLONE was doing with Joneses help. Now we’re in a god war and next season is an apocalypse setting. We are having mini live events like the titan hand too. I feel like we need to give it time, just without live events unfortunately
Say whatever you want about the massive number of collabs for easy money and battle passes, awful UI changes and marketing, but everything got worse after the Fracture event, an Event where the STORY was absent. Now we know why. RIP Fortnite Story 2018-2021
@@chancedream1583No. That statement was just damage control. The real reason why it sucked is because it never was supposed to happen. Chapter 3 was supposed to be 8 seasons long but something hit epic managment's head and they decided to end it early. The developers had like 3 WEEKS to try and put something together no wonder it sucked
@@Jeehhh Oh I didn't know about that, I just thought it was officially said by Epic that it was more of an social event on the blog post, but that does make a lot of sense on why that event felt different
Exactly! Good storytelling is only beneficial to the core gameplay. That's why I was very invested in the game in the C2S7-C2S3 period, the story made me want to play more, I resonated with the theme of the season much more and it overall felt more fun. Heck, even if I didn't like a season's meta (like C3S2 with the drum shotgun), I was still very much invested because I wanted to stay up to date with the story quests and the characters, the event build up and it made me feel in theme with the season theme. All of this is now lacking and as a result I'm much less invested in the gameplay, let alone the story.
Even though I'm not a big fan of the Donald mustard's fortnite storytelling, However he puts so much work, love, and passion towards the storyline. The live events, the original characters, and Famous IPs characters interact with the fortnite storyline. It's just amazing, and the storyline has so much potential. But since Donald mustard left, and Epic games are putting all of their resources into this "Metaverse" thing. Nowadays, The game feels souless. There's no depth toward new characters or old characters that we know in love. Fortnite storyline quests nowadays are like happy go lucky fetch quest or something. And worst of all, Live events and mini events are getting leaked before the days of it's release. There's no Instrumental of surprises anymore, and I miss that. Hopefully, the Fortnite storyline will make a comeback later down the future. If not, it is what it is. Sorry for the long yapping essay.
This channel is amazing. I love retrospective/analytical content and never see that about fortnite. Especially fortnite content not geared towards 10 year olds. I am a very happy new subscriber!
I feel like epic should just make a movie now, here’s an idea I made The movie would be based on Chapter 2 Season 2 and would have Skye and Midas is the protagonists (mainly Skye for a reason I’ll get to later), and would be about having to stop Shadow with Chaos Agent being the “main villain” (also according to Midas, chaos agent killed skyes mom which would be her motive for joining midas) and the other agents, Maya, Peely, Tntina, Brutas, Meowscles, and Deadpool would choose sides (ghost or shadow) and would cause conflict between them, but it would be revealed at the end of the 2nd act that Chaos Agent was a robot created by Midas and ghost vs shadow was just a distraction crated so people won’t know about the device, and Midas would be revealed to be the main antagonist of the movie. (Who also was skyes moms true killer) Midas is motive would be to use the device to break the loop but the device would cause massive destruction and possibly destroy the island (basically Midas is an anti villain and isn’t really “evil”, just blinded by his motive), Skye would get a few characters (Fishstick, Omega, Jules, Meowscles, Peely, Rust Lord, and Drift) to stop Midas before it’s too late leading to the climax with the device being activated and Skye and her crew trying to stop Midas, but it would fail and the island would flood. The movie would end with Midas (wearing Cyclone as a suit) and Skye (wearing Eternal Knights armor) having a final fight ending with Skye killing Midas and Skyes crew building the Fortilla with some of the C2S3 battle pass skins and them having to try and survive on the new island (and would probably be continued because let’s be honest Fortnite movie would make A LOT of money). The movie could be animated and made by dreamworks

It’s actually crazy how we went from the Chapter 2 end event to “WE DID IT! We saved Peely! Thank you.” -Vengeance Jones
I couldn’t agree more… everything is confusing now with all that unorganized bullcrap.

Overwatch 2 isn't dead but it's not really thriving either
to be fair overwatch actually has original characters that they still use in media which makes them iconic and recognisable
and although not thriving it's definitely not dead either despite what people say
I really miss what Fortnite used to be and Epic clearly Doesn't Know or Doesn't Care about how to make a Good Game
Only Donald Mustard did.
I had some of the most Amazing and Unique memories of my Life speculating and being excited about the Storyline of Fortnite back then with my Friends and I will never Ever forget it.
I don't say that Fortnite shouldn't have evolved into something Else
BUT they Should have given Donald's Storyline the Conclusion it actually Deserved.

Fortnite Battle Royale Always had lore, something i loved was the descriptions of skins that would say where they're from on the map
For example Red Knight being "The red menace of Anarchy Acres"
I've always thought when we didn't get an in game event during a season that something was wrong, now it's just...normal.
tim sweeny is like antwan from free guy, some villain trying to make everything a metaverse
As someone who always worked on the live events dates I can say I wish there were more I’d like to experience one
I really dont care about the metaverse but why sacrifice storyline for it
I think the best outcome is a snyder cut type scenario. Where after a few years we get a donald mustard fortnite movie where we can see his full vision for the fortnite storyline
I've been playing since season 9, and I've witnessed the storyline going crazy chapter 2 was honestly the best chapter for the storyline.
Ch3 had a good start but a rough end
And after that it started to fall fast
Now, the storyline.
or whatever is left of it,
Is on life support.
I never played anything outside of the Royale, but my complaint is any inkling of Maturity was eradicated.
Ch3 really was on track to be the best chapter ever
Their priorities should go like this, Br, Lego, Fortnite Festival, rocket racing based just on plays
Gotta love how the entire Seven narrative just got forcibly kicked out of the storyline, never to be seen again
I miss the story it was so good the reason I’m still playing storytelling is my passion seeing it go away just makes me sad
that is what i have been thinking reasently too. like we have a season devoted to greek gods, YOU KNOW HOW MANY INTERESTING STUFF THEY COULD HAVE IMPLEMENTED IF THEY TOOK ADVANTAGE OF IT. like at the beginning of the season, it seemed like they were actully doing it. we got midas back, had a whole gamemode, fun items and weapons, and the story was just getting interesting again. then avatar happened. like dont get me wrong, i love avatar. its litterly one of my favorite shows of all time. however, the problem is that it completely derailed the season. instead of getting more interesting story beats, we got overpriced product placements
that's like saying "oh chapter 1 season 4 started with a superhero and space theme and we got new modes and dusty divot but then we got thanos and that completely derailed it"
and if you actually cared to interact with characters or do the story quests, you'd know that the story has been about building an alliance with different gods to fight or persuade zeus, so of course its going to feel like theres no interesting story beats while we are in the middle of a prepping phase, and midas and the crew was literally a side-story
@@jibaZoomi I know you weren’t replying to me but thanks lmao I didn’t realise it was that detailed and that’s mb
This is what I've been saying! The storyline is very important to keep things going and relevant. I miss Donald Mustard...😫
Me too lil bro, me too 😔
also I was always so exited for story related live events and seasons felt important to a story line not just random stuff put together, that's why chapter 5 so far feels lost
@@claudeheinrich3613 I know it's so sad the last true live event was Collision back in chapter 3

Fortnite ending Ch3 to quickly is this one thing i can't get over
I started fortnite in chapter 2 season 1. I just hope that epic and Charlie Wen can see our perspective and realize what the true DNA of fortnite actually is.
its funny because I liked and played fortnite because of its story line and quests, now its just because of missing out
Ok but the fact donald was going to keep chapters as 2 or 3 years long instead of the regular 1 that epic is doing now just kinda...
Sucks.
I remember seeing concept art for chapter 4's MEGA season and Last Resort season being labled as Chapter 3.
Do you know how much more cool chapter3 could have been if it was a proper 8-10 season
Chapter 3 is already one of my favourite islands
Sure we only have 5 but the fact that atleast for me C3 is up there with C1 for me is insane
Could honestly have been been the best island for me, if they did do the chapter 4 seasons straight into OG after Season 8 would honestly have been amazing.
Fortnite died for me after chapter 3 season 3 , i really miss chapter 1 and 2
Didn’t doctor Slone die in a live event?
How is she still alive??
I really don't find myself that interested in 4 or 5, even
Some 3 skins, Because they have 0 character, there is no substance to them besides looking cool.
The biggest mistake they made was killing Save The World
I started off just playing with friends.
I think it’s good they’re rebooting the story after Chapter OG after it fell of but man it still sucks
nah this problem started after c2s8
As someone that started playing Fornite recently it's a shame I missed all this cool story stuff.
I started playing in chapter 2 and I can confirm, not being a sweaty 24/7 player, jumping to it again after losing my apple/epic account because the war shows me that those days where the day
Loving Lego Fornite tho
Bruh CH2 S7 to Ch3 S2 was the PEAK of nostalgia
you mean the switchover in season 5 - 3 pandoras box disappeares when the sword is raised in olympus..
All it is is just them going for quantity over quality
i think we might get a geno ark soon
I’m no veteran but I did play from marvel season and faithfully play even up to now. I’ve invested in every starter pack, stw pack, crew since then. And for the first time ever I feel unmotivated to play Fortnite. It’s not the same
Once I finish the bp ima only get on if a see a good item shop
I always mainly played fortnite for the story... Nowadays I just log in once a week or once a month to finish my BP in bot lobbies. Thats it.
And yes, killing the amount of live events really gave me the sign fortnite isnt anymore.
Completely agree. Without the story Fortnite just becomes another game.
100% I don’t care much about fortnite now only buy battlepasses if the skins r really good and sometimes the shop but i don’t revere fortnite to any extent like before, watching those events with ither people in a pvp game was so cool, felt like a community and I really miss that.
donald makes a lot of mistakes, like making the face of 2 of the main story characters of 2 irl actors, making expensive to keep in the storyline.
another mistake is the storyline having a lot of problems with still a lot or unrisolved stuff.
with the multiverse introduced in ch5, they reduced the budget for the storyline, like live events for that stupid multiverse
but we still have story missions and we know whats happening in this chapter
I love this community and how hopeful we all are in this game but they’ve made so many mistakes I can’t even count them on all 10 fingers, they need a og classic mode like STW where you can choose what YOU the player wants to play.
YES! I agree with this! I really miss Fortnite's peak story.
The reason I kept playing when I did not get a kill until ch 1 season 8 when I started in season 7 was the storyline.
Jonesy is Donald mustard The last skin was the new Jonesy from chapter 5 season one and it sees him as his skin as a downfall.

This is ehy i rarely get the original skins in the shop because i have no connection to them. They're just skins they have zero backstory unlike the collabs
I only started playing shortly before season OG, I feel like I missed so much, the moment I start playing the Lego festival bs started😢
How old are you 💀💀💀
you know back in chapter 2/3 i was always the first to watch the cinematics and to me they were the equal to a marvel movie in the 2010s
I feel they could’ve done something with Spider-Man 2099…
i was so annoyed bc i have been looking for a greek mythology season for YEARS! now we have it i have never been so disappointed. the most fun i had in ANY season was c2 s7 with the aliens bc of the story influencing every aspect of the gameplay. i get they want to compete with roblox but they have lost what made fortnite special.
i really wish epic looked to games like splatoon where the storytelling is so deep & layered that even if someone gets bored of the game itself they’ll probably still be invested in the franchise
Nowadays the roll out for a new skin is making them an n p c on the map
Thank you for addressing this I haven't really been enjoying fornite because of this and I don't see anyone talking about this and it's left me feeling separated from the rest of the community and game that I love. So I greatly appreciate you making this video because It gives me hope knowing I'm not the only one who thinks this way about how Fortnite changed.(Also have you noticed that the trailers look weird now I don't know what they changed but they look super strange to me.)
The story still had an impact on the lootpool this season
So sad that the story ended unfinished I was really invested into the story being told and epic games took it away because they can’t stop pushing this metaverse narrative down everybody’s throats this is why I don’t care about the game anymore
I think so many chapters Fortnites has been changing and we don’t have a storyline law apart from dialogues
YOU
THIS made me instantly sub after the video
Well we have a story now, right? Even story quests
I miss live events so much
Look Ik this will be a little against the point of this video, but unlike the live events we’re not missing a storyline necessarily.
Fortnite trying to craft a narrative is what is br
Say whatever you want about the massive number of collabs for easy money and battle passes, awful UI changes and marketing, but everything got worse after the Fracture event, an Event where the STORY was absent. Now we know why.

I started c2s7 and man the storyline was peak wll the way to c3s1 (ik im late but i feel like that's where the storyline peaked)
Is there any chance Epic’s snap back to normality? I just hope there is a chance…
I feel like epic should just make a movie now, here’s an idea I made
The movie would be based on Chapter 2 Season 2 and would have Skye and Midas is the protagonists (mainly Skye for a reason I’ll get to later), and would be about having to stop Shadow with Chaos Agent being the “main villain” (also according to Midas, chaos agent killed skyes mom which would be her motive for joining midas) and the other agents, Maya, Peely, Tntina, Brutas, Meowscles, and Deadpool would choose sides (ghost or shadow) and would cause conflict between them, but it would be revealed at the end of the 2nd act that Chaos Agent was a robot created by Midas and ghost vs shadow was just a distraction crated so people won’t know about the device, and Midas would be revealed to be the main antagonist of the movie.
I want them to focus on the seven after chapter 3 season 2 and what happened to them
