- Today we spend an afternoon at The Bali Hai area of Pattaya, there is a new museam, grocery store and restaurants all in this single block worth trying. But Beware, although you may follow your dreams to Pattaya, it can sometimes be the nightmares you'll find.

I’ve been a big fan of yours since Bang Saen days. Your bike reviews convinced me to pull the trigger on a Forza. For those who want to get out of the Pattaya/Jomtien crowds, I can recommend the beachfront in Rayong City. Lots of reasonably priced condos and houses for purchase or rent. Less than an hour drive or ride from Pattaya, shopping malls nearby, more beautiful beaches a few kilometres east of here, and mostly MUCH quieter.

It can take a good 1,5 hours to get from top of beach road to Jomtien, which is ridiculous. There is 4 lanes both on beach road and second road, but only two of them are technically in use. The baht busses constantly having to pull over takes up one of these two lanes, and then both sides are covered with parking. It would suit Pattaya well, to make some parking houses. If the city continues to develope, it wont be long before it is non sustainable.
I wish the ferry still ran between Hua Hin and Pattaya……I like Pattaya enough for several short visits per yeat but I still prefer Hua Hin to live……great video as always😃

Record breaking traffic. I agree Lucas, we left Pattaya yesterday. Stayed centrally at the Blackwoods but everywhere we tried to go on our bike the traffic was just horrendous.
We haven't been back to that part of Thailand since covid but what a shock. Not the Pattaya traffic I am accustomed to. Missed bike week by a week due to other schedules. Back next year for sure. Cheers from Cape Town.

good video, Loucous:) I know we are not too far apart in age, and I don't know about you, but the older i have gotten, the less i care for crowds. I like being near things, but hate fighting my way to get there! Have you thought about going back to Bang Saen? Maybe it is just as crowded, I admittedly don't know the area other than through channels like yours!

Ah yes...the ole 4 wheeler travel time vs. the 2 wheeler travel time. I rarely go with my 4 wheeler unless I am doing major stock-up shopping (like a Makro run), hauling a motorcycle or traveling out of town for a long stay. I don't like crowds much, so I live in a semi rural area and only go into town when necessary. There's plenty of small shops/7-11, motorcycle mechanics and socializing spots near our house. Thanks for the vid.

Agree, traffic has become a permanent nightmare... with the tourist busses, neverending road/pipe constructions, changes to road directions, town events, etc... It has become hellish to get anywhere (even on a bike)... kinda miss the lockdowns... GO is awesome and huge (plenty of room to expand as they get more suppliers)... has a few things that Makro does not carry (and viceverse)... but Makro is better for produce...
Yeah, we haven't been to Makro in 2 months now 🤣👍

Hey Lucas , the museum was a little strange , it’s not for me , dual pricing. , I still don’t understand after 20years of visiting Thailand ,buddy it’s good for the city that is getting busy again , but the infrastructure is not working , but Lucas. ItsThailand ,I am coming next week for a month to possibly retire here in the future, koh larn is a lovely place to visit , I have been a few times

its a great area of Pattaya .... we go down to Bali Hai eat quite a bit.... come out dark side.... nice out here and cheaper than pattaya to live here

get out of Pattaya for a year of so. Go to a quieter city for a while. Hua Hin for example.
He's lived different areas in Thailand but pattaya always seems to draw him back.
Ribs looked good , but on Tuesday's I would be at that special place for ribs and wings.
mentally i could not stay in the house. too many memories.
Coconut at a roadside stand,with a straw, a spoon and a chair was ฿20 in Hua Hin last week 🎉
Right, and those places generally buy them at the big markets and of course need to make a profit. I think the roadside stands here now are 60-70 baht.

great content, as usual. Looking out at the bay and boats reminded me of my first and only visit to Pattaya. I was on an aircraft carrier headed to the Persian Gulf. We anchored, and the only way to get ashore was to take a medium sized ferry to about 200 yds off shore, jump onto one of those smaller boats that would beach, and we could jump ashore. There were ladies there to dry our feet in the shade trees. This was 1991. Do large US warships ever visit anymore? I would think not, but curious. retiring in 12 weeks or so. the countdown is on!
Yes, this week is Cobra Gold, large joint military exercise in the area, brings some US vessels to the area.

That restaurant is pretty good.. used to go there… but after dealing with that traffic for a year and half I was done… moved to bang saray… 30 mines south… and it’s wonderful down here.. air pollution not bad.. it’s quiet…. No traffic really…. I see jomtien from my balcony.. and a lot of times there’s so much pollution you can barely see it….. fyi….. some nice houses for sale in this area… pretty good prices….and any store in pattaya is hear as well…
Can you own a house in Thailand without a thai wife? Or is it still a complex business scheme necessary?

It would be interesting to see how many "museum" /tourist attractions there are in or around Pattaya (not incl Golf and shopping Malls lol).
Waking or motorbike is easier around Pattaya daytime. Shopping with car can be done first thing or late in the evening for slightly less traffic. You should try the traffic where I live daytime, I'd take Pattaya fireworks night and road closures than here lol.
You'll be pleased to know that Soi Buakhao is now a great alternate route when 2nd and 3rd road are full of traffic. 🤣
@Rides4Kickz lol, any route is a great alternate route when you walk 😊 3rd road to Beach road no problem. North Road from South road is a bit more of a challenge lol

It's still the high season and atoll lots of construction....plus the usual visitors from bangkok on the weekends. It's been a mess for awhile now.

Since Thai govt are now giving 90 day visas for Chinese Russian & Indian citizens the traffic congestion will only get worse plus you got the weekend Bkk Thais visiting. Time to get out of pattaya and Jomtien. That “love museum” looked dreadful btw…def not on the to do list!!
