That charted higher for them, but I like this one better because it isn’t a cover song. This was on my list of song requests. If you like this, then you’d like ABC and the Thompson Twins. About to request some of those.
Naked Eyes is one of my favorite synthpop groups from the 80's! I saw them live during the reunion tours and Pete had released a solo album they were great! They only made 2 albums but they are full of great tunes! "Always Something there to remind me" is their biggest hit, "Promises Promises" is there 2nd hit and my personal favorite 3rd hit, "When the lights go out", is pure synthpop perfection!
I love how certain songs bring you back to a previous time and place in your life. We had a very small waterpark near my home and this song would be playing over the speakers.
I absolutely Love seeing and hearing you 2 out of 3 Amigos desovering one of the Greatest 80s bands and their songs. You will bless your self and everything you do to hear the other Great Songs of Naked Eyes. You Won't be disappointed. God Bless from TEXAS! 🤠
A great 80's sound from Naked Eyes that had another hit called " ALWAYS SOMETHING THERE TO REMIND ME. A popular British new wave band that had a song I really thought was cool.
Hi guys! Great pick! I graduated from high school in 1983. The song was pretty big then. Enjoyed your reaction and the blast from the past! Looking forward to your next episode! Cheers! Christian K, NYS.
This is my favorite Naked Eyes song although I’ve never heard this version before. By reading the comments, I see that this is the UK version; I’ve only learn the US version which has a completely different second verse. Both are spectacular! Thanks for choosing this!

I'm surprised y'all didn't start with their first - and bigger - hit, their amazing cover of the Burt Bacharach/Hal David classic "Always Something There To Remind Me." THAT'S the Naked Eyes song that y'all SHOULD have started with. Do that next, please.
Naked Eyes made some very catchy songs. This one, along with Always Something There to Remind Me, and Voices in My Head are all great songs of theirs. You should react to them.
Euro Pop is where we went to hide in the 1980s from Rock hair bands and heavy metal. Add a few Hall & Oats & Al Jarreau songs, and you will find our safe zone.
Still got this one on vinyl, the "Extended Version" 1983. I never heard this version, perhaps an American release? The lyrics are also different. The extended one has a great intro with a funky bass, very tastful! 👌🏻✨️😎
I saw them on tour a few years ago with “Lost 80’s Live”. Every year they bring old 80’s bands together and they each play two or three songs. A Flock of Seagulls is always the headliner. Naked Eyes played this song and it sounded really good. It was so surreal seeing them play it. I was 19 years old when it came out. Takes me right back to dorm days in college.
In the 80s there was a unique sound from video games, which gives the music a high melody. I have heard this song more than once, long ago in my personal player.
This is my first time hearing the full album version and I dig it. I agree with other posters that the single edit, which I usually despise, is the best version. The only other instance that comes to mind is You Are The Sunshine of My Life by Stevie Wonder, which adds a horn arrangement that elevates the song.
One of my favorite songs ever!! I was thrilled when I saw this..... They did "Always something there to remind me".....another banger. Also, this is not the radio edit track. You may appreciate the radio edit more-- it's a bit more punchy, less funky. I enjoy both, but I prefer the radio edit for daily listening. It's perfection. If you haven't done, check out Johnny Hates Jazz, "Shattered Dreams." Similiar soundscape/same era. It's fire--a daily listen for me. ❤❤ Appreciate you boys! Many thanks!
Oh- the memories I have of this song. Probably one of my favorites from the 80’s. My best friend in high school worked at a local upscale steakhouse in their kitchen. I would park out back, and wait on him to get off work @10pm to go out running around as teenagers did back then. I remember this just blasting from my speakers. My friend was not exactly a fan of “dance music”- but he LOVED this song.
Naked Eyes have so many great songs! Eyes of a Child, Flag of Convenience, What in the Name of Love, I Could Show You How are all songs you should give a spin if you get the chance.

I enjoy them both but prefer the U.S. version bc it doesn’t have the reverb in the chorus. For the record: I had no issue with the “cup of tea” line in the UK version. ✌🏽
Ok, but seriously good guys, a lot lot better 80s bands and tunes that sound similar but much better - where do I start? Ok, ABC! miles better. 'All of My Heart' and 'SOS' and I guess 'Poison Arrow' and "Look of Love' their big hits though my first 2 are classy!

I'm 52 growing up in the 80's was the best!!!
Classic 80’s British New Wave sounds. The MTV culture.
In the same veins, you should have a listen to Kajagoogoo's "Too Shy" and Psychedelic Furs "Love My Way" ... 80s New Wave is simply awesome!
Would love seeing them react to both. And I hope Ty is with them when they do.

@ Billboard 1983 year end top 100, not MY list. I agree not all great. Only a few, nah. I appreciate your opinion, though.
"When The Lights Go Out". Soothing tune. "In The Name Of Love". Upbeat, danceable.
Great songs!
Wowwww, I had completely forgotten about this song, and revisiting it now, it's way funkier than I remembered!
I’m gonna go on the record and say I have never heard this version, and I love this song. You really should check out the “ other “ version. ❤
Changed for the American release since "cup of tea" wouldn't resonate.
This song takes me back to long summer drives to the beach. Music was so fun in that era and the memories are great 👍😊
Version I remember goes, "You can't finish what you start, if this is love it breaks my heart."
That’s the US version. I get that when I ask Alexa to play this song.

"Maybe they're not good enough" ---> hits fire button!! 😂 Also this version does sound different than the radio edit!
Even different lyrics I'm pretty certain!!
This, Talk Talk's "It's My Life" and "Politics Of Dancing" by Re-Flex were party staples back in the day.
“Politics Of Dancing” 👌🏾😎

A bit different from the radio edit. Recollections of 1983!
One of my favorites from the 80's. I was a teen in the 80's.
“What in the Name of Love” and the video is dope..

That's interesting cause I think the singer is good but there were similar ones in the 80s. But these vibes were something else! The music is great.
Song got heavy play in clubs.
1984 high school grad. here. I approve of this song. Lol
Oh yeah, I remember this song! 👍
A little extra lucky charms with the remix. I like.
This made me miss the 80s. 😭
Always loved this song. One of my top ten favorites from the 80's. Sadly, oldies radio only plays their Dionne Warwick remake.
I miss the 80's ❤
Always preferred this to their better-known hit "Always Something There to Remind Me". "Promises" is more complex and punchier. Good comment about being a possible/probable influence on Daft Punk. Thanks for the 80's flashback.
Same. ASTTRM grated on my nerves. Nothing cool or interesting about it.
This must be a dance version 😊
Named Eyes really like "Let's dance" 😊
Produced by (and with guitar by) Tony Mansfield, the genius behind New Musik - also producer of the original version of a-ha's Take On Me.
This sounds better at 57 than when I was in 10th grade!
Glad you guys did this song. It's one of those good older ones that I'd forgotten about until hearing it now.
It is chocolate and vanilla 😂..funk and pop elements for sure..
Some Chic influences there. When I first time heard this song, I mistook the group to ABC with the singer's voice.
Somebody owes Nile Rodgers a big fat check for this
More like the estate of Bernard Edwards.
You should review these two 80's hits: "Living In A Box" - Living In A Box and "The Promise" - When In Rome
This is the "album version" of the song. The "single version" is EVEN BETTER and what we heard on the radio in the 80s, It has a better intro that launches right into the song, a slightly faster pace, and much less echo on "Promises, Promises" chorus. The Single version or Radio edit is always BETTER!
Agreed, for this song, the single edit is better.
Great tune!!!
"You gave me radishes, radishes"
Radio edit is better than this version
Another great 80s song
For me the guitar intro is disco.
Sade, ''Smooth Operator.''
I gave up asking them for Sade. They generally ignore female songs for whatever reason.
I hope that when they react to Sade that it’s a cut that die-hard Sade fans love. “Smooth Operator” is cool but that’s her most ultra commercial song. In my opinion, it pales in comparison to, say, “Cherish The Day”. ✌🏽

No idea what mix this is. The released single/video was better
All Of My Heart by ABC better 80's song.
THAT...that is a GREAT Tune!
I just commented ABC. One of my favorite bands. Poison Arrow is one I think the guys would really like. The 12” version has a cool flute solo too.
@@DavidLettermansYup I’d choose “Poison Arrow” as well with”The Look Of Love” being my runner-up.
