Saw them live a couple of months ago, the best live show I’ve ever seen (over the past 40 years 😂) incredible live !!!!!!! And I was so lucky to catch a drumstick at the end of the show. What a momento
The reason Hanabie is so good at tempo changes is because they started out in high school as a MAXIMUM THE HORMONE cover band. MTH is a master class in tempo, key and even genre changes in the same song. MTH is called the System Of A Down of Japan, but that is not a fair comparison...for S.O.A.D. Check out their song, Yoshu Fukushu.
Yes! Some guys wear strawberry hats when We Love Sweets is being played and almost always if Yukina sees it she'll go down to the barrier, "borrow" one to wear during the song and give it back at the end
This was kind of their breakthrough song. At that point they didn't have a label and produced their music through crowdfunding (this was from their 2nd crowdfunded album).
Hanabie = Harajukucore = 🔥🔥🔥🔥 You really need to go see them. My Mrs likes BABYMETAL but isn’t at all keen on screaming - she had a blast with Hanabie, took a great picture with them and now proudly wears the shirt. She’s going again in May… 😊
Best part about this song live, is that theres always some dude with the strawberry on his head that Yukina grabs if she can get it from him. I was right next to him at the Chicago show last year. Only 2 months til they tour the US. OH MY GOD YOU DID THE VARSITY THEATER SHOW. I WAS THERE, THAT WAS MY FIRST HANABIE SHOW. I am right in front of Matsuri's microphone spot, on barrier. I also did the meet n greet that day. This reaction brings back huge memories, this was the day I fell in love with this band and became a fan. I had NO IDEA who they were when I got there. The crowdsurfing panda was a legend, he went up like 20 times. For the record, the Minneapolis show fancams have some pretty good quality sound. On your own time, check out the Be The Gal performance from that show, its one of the better ones out there.

It has a great music video with CC and a good quality live video (mashup of two concerts) that will definitely let you do a good comparison between the two. Still my favorite Hanabie song! This was with their old drummer. Hanabie started out as a Maximum the Hormone cover band in high school. I highly recommend Maximum the Hormone 'Shimi' featuring Atarashii Gakko, which was my pick for collab of the year. They slightly edged out the Band Maid x The Warning collab, which I also highly recommend!
Since Yukina started to do those crazy screams in the middle of the breakdown, this music turned to be my favorite to listen the live versions, people went crazy in the Jinjer tour when she did that.
Just go ahead and buy two tickets now. Worry about convincing your wife later. When I saw them at House of Blues in Disney Springs, we had a crowd surfing Jesus.
Matsuri, the guitarist and vocalist, likes a variety of loud music, including Western music, and the girls are especially influenced by Maxim the Hormone, so they often use this kind of song structure with a lot of variation.
Great reaction, we love sweet is a really fun song, the live audio isn't the best but you can still enjoy it, put "Envy" as one of hanabie's songs on your list. A band you might like: Atarashii Gakko. It's not a rock or metal band, but it's an extremely fun band and they're even the first babymetal guests for metaraji, if you're going to react START with Otonablue from the first take, it will give you the whole vibe of the band. Thanks for the good reaction bro 🤘
I was at that show in Minneapolis right on the rail, pretty sure sure I see myself at one point in this video 😂 I've seen them live 5 times so far and doing number 6 in March! They're always amazing 🤘 And yes, the guy with the strawberry hat has been to multiple shows and at least 3 or 4 times now Yukina notices him and grabs it from him during We Love Sweets. It's become a tradition 😂 You definitely need to see them in Dallas if you can
Three months ago, I saw Hanabie in San Antonio when they opened for Jinjer. My understanding is that they will be opening for Kim Dracula at the Dallas House of Blues. I have seen a couple of shows at HoB in Dallas, the most recent being Band-Maid in October, 2022. Your wife might be more open to going if you got reserved seats in the balcony, and not GA on the floor.
I REALLY don't like scream/harsh vocals, BUT I also literally ran almost two miles not be late to see Hanabie's show. BIG FUN!! Hettsu the bassist is so much fun to watch!
You should definitely go to Hanabie concert, even if your wife doesn't go with you. I saw them live when they did their first international tour ever in Summer 2023. There were so many T-shirts from Japanese bands all around me. While we waited in line we all talked about Hanabie, Babymetal, Band-Maid, Lovebites, Nemophila, you name it. Everyone were fan of everything. The concert was pure bliss. The band was awesome and the audience was there to just have fun. Don't miss out. Oh, afterwards I got to see them in an impromptu meet&greet. They all signed my CD in front of me, and Matsuri complimented my Band-Maid t-shirt.
@@madsstavang hehe. And yeah I had a similar experience in 2023. Got my CD signed and chatted with the girls after the gig in the M&G. But the venue there is really tiny and was already sold out.. so no joy :/
A quick note on the next song.. it's not called "My Type".. it's called "ito okashi My Type" (Japanese title is: いとをかしMyType). The "ito okashi" bit is an archaic phrase that means "of great interest". The song is about the Myres-Briggs Type Indicator.. that tries to classify people into 16 personality types Sae on drums in We Love Sweets - Chika joined in May 2023 and has played all their overseas shows Don't wait on those tickets 🧑🎤 Cheers
Most people would have found Hanabie from either PassCode (like I did), Maximum the Hormone, SiM, or Fear, and Loathing in Las Vegas before they would have found them from Babymetal. We Love Sweets was their initial bump which got them to the point of noticing they could make it not what really got their career super charged. The one that really supercharged their career would be Pardon Me I Have to Go Now.
If you have not yet, you have to get the band NEK! on your list. Back when Lovebites was having auditions for a new bass player, the bassist now in NEK! was one of the front runners. As you know they went with FAMI.
Glad to see Nemophila being talked about here... Even the song I was going to recomment you start with - Dissention. Hold onto your hat... When Mayu kicks it in, wear a face shield to help minimize the damage when she melts your face...

I saw this band a few months ago live. I took my niece and we were lucky enough to get meet and greet tickets. We brought the same strawberry hats with us that they use in the video, and they let us get multiple photos with them during the meet and greet, with and without the hats! There were some people in front of us that were asking us if they were a "Babymetal ripoff band"... we assured them at they weren't. Maybe you can convince your wife to go to the Hanabie concert with you by telling her that she can learn from Yukina how to scream at you more effectively. 😆
Normaly the new reactor of HANABIE start with this song and had a suprise jump when Yukina push her first grawl clause to the massive double bass drums. It's so funny to watch their face. Your wife is an occidental version of Yukina.

It's super hard to find Hanabie Lives with good audio, trust me I've scoured the Interwebs. It's super frustrating because I love live shows & I've heard them live 3 X & I know what it's supposed to sound like. I'm constantly watching lives of NEMOPHILA & Babymetal can find those everywhere. Hanabie, not so much.
This was my first Hanabie song I heard, and it almost made me never check them out again: too much harsh vocals for me! Luckily I gave them another chance with "Pardon Me, I have to go now" and that was enough to catch my attention!!
You broke the "reactor rules" you're meant to watch this one first, because it's never not funny to see someone who's not expecting that first scream. This one also features a rare Hettsu vocal. This song does more in 2 and a half minutes than most songs do in twice that runtime. If your wife doesn't like harsh lyrics, I'm sure she'll love Hanabie. They're just cute girls in colourful clothes doing songs about sweets. What's harsh about that? :)
