Going straight to the newest song from Thrill, that's a huge jump in their style and skill levels. Thrill wasn't written by them, as their earlier songs were all written by other people. But not too long after Thrill, they were allowed to write their own songs, and almost exclusively write them themselves now. It also helps that they formed their own management company last year, so they have 100% creative control and can do interviews and other things without having to ask for permission. They're their own bosses now. Members are: Saiki Atsumi (lead vocals, some lyrics, piano) Miku Kobato (founder, rhythm guitar, second lead vocals, genius lyricist) - she usually has a song on each album in which she's lead singer. Kanami Tono (lead guitar, keyboard, genius composer) MISA (genius lead bass. Really, lead base. Barefoot Assassin) Akane Hirose (genius drummer) They're all just so talented at what they do.
You should pause whenever you feel the need. after all we come to see your reaction, but Band Maid, or more accurately their Label, doesn't block or strike reactors. At lease not for videos from their official site so don't feel you have to pause to please the algorithm. They will of course claim whatever monetization is due them as I'm sure you already know. Glad you are enjoying the Maids and hope to see more on your channel.
Kanami Tono plays lead guitar. She is part of an elite group of musicians who have been honored with a Signature model guitar from Paul Reed Smith guitars. Carlos Santana and John Mayer are among this elite (like 11 in number)group. Kanami is the only female and the only Japanese player so honored. The entire run of 200 sold out damn near immediately. Kanami is the main composer of BandMaid's music. The music is very much a collaborative effort with input from all members. I'm sure you'll learn all about that later. Thanks for your reaction!😮
Their newest album 'Epic Narratives' was released at the end of September last year plus, for fan club members only, a live acoustic album was released on Christmas day, mine arrived today. They have indicated that there will be a new EP later this year which presumably will be 8/9 songs in line with their previous EPs.
I'll make this easy... I recommend ANY song from them, as the old cliche' goes..... all killer no filler. some of my fav's "Secret My Lips", "Blooming", "Forbidden Tale", "Daydreaming", anything acoustic, the collab with the band "The Warning", or their alter-ego group Band Maiko.... 140 songs or so to choose from.... have fun!
Thank you! Welcome to more BAND-MAID. "Zen" is absolutely awesome. And, no joke, about BAND-MAID's 34th best song! You have a lot to look forward to. I've seen them live, and they were overpoweringly, overpoweringly awesome. You'll enjoy some of the live videos.
I have to say they've done anime themes before, and they're enjoyable, but this stands out by a mile. After every listen it climbs higher up my personal ranking. Great video to contrast with your first. And loads of goodness in-between of course. If you like this style more then buckle up! It's their bread and butter for me. Dense proggy rock. Look forward to seeing you experience it for yourself.
Exactly 10 years between both songs (Thrill & Zen) - 10 years of intense work, composition and touring without one minute lost. At the contrary of many bands who tend to water down with the years, they are still at their top energy and creativity.
As a grizzled veteran the Band-Maid reaction scene, I thought I'd seen it all. But I think this might be the first time I've seen any reactor new or even well versed in Band-Maid, go from Thrill 1st to their latest brand new less than 24 hr prior release reaction?!? Particularly with no other frames of reference. I mean the timing🤯 This was Fun! Welcome to Band-Maid!!!! ❤️💛💚💙💜
The dates announced are up to June 28 now for Japan. I think, after that, might be overseas. New album was released in September 2024. An EP will be released in 2025.
@J-ROCKMD Yes ! The Fam Jay Crew channel from Toronto was there and reported the concert on YT ! I sat near Kanami's speaker and my head rang for three days afterward ! 🤯
Every new Band-Maid song rings out with new and innovative riff and chord structures, beat patterns and fills, vocal runs, backups, melodies and lyrics. The Maids continue to pack so much into their songs without them feeling cluttered, repetitive or overplayed. Their composition and execution is always refreshing and amazing to witness and hear. Once again, the supreme Maids -- Kanami, Saiki, Miku, Akane and MISA -- push their contributions to exciting, new levels of writing, playing and performance! We are so lucky to be living in the age of Band-Maid!🤘🎀🤘 Thx, Andy!
"I love the main singer!" - Yeah, Saiki does that to you. As for them dropping the "maid" aesthetic - not really. It's really not something us westerns would consider an obvious maid look except for maybe Miku. Their looks does change depending on the song for the MV. If you really look at what they're wearing here, I'd say they have their own stylistic interpretation of it. I really hope you enjoy the Band-Maid journey. Simply put, they just rock!
The Anime and song I believe are a protest against the "Work yourself to death" that permeates the Anime and Japanese workforce. I predict great things for this movement.
Band-Maid change-ups are very sneaky and easy to miss in the heavily layered sound. It's fun trying to pick all "ingredients". But you'll pick what you are most familiar with or what's most dear to you. 😉😁 They are talking about potential world tour in the latter half of this year but I'm not entirely sure. They've just released the new album "Epic Narratives" about 2 months and a half ago, and will probably release another EP this year. Fans from all over the world want them to come over to their country, but they haven't done world tour for a long time, except for their 3 US tours from 2022-2023. World tour was planned in 2020 or 2021, before their Budohkan concert which they decided to cancel. They were relatively unknown in Japan until recently and relied heavily on their international fans travelling to Japan (you'd see so many regulars at their concerts in Japan) that Budohkan concert would've been pointless anyway if those dedicated fans couldn't make it. I don't know about other fans but I have this strong feeling that they'll do world tour later this year or mid-2026.
Saiki is the lead vocalist, but Miku is too important to be just a backup. They did more handing off to each other early on, like co-leads, but these days, the Band-Maid vocal sound is largely a team effort, with them harmonizing or layering melodies all the time.
Band-Maid has not come to Canada to date....I have seen them 4 times in concert....3 times in New York City and 1 time in Boston....Peace & Respect from Montreal
You generally do not really have to worry about Band-Maid striking down reaction videos to their official releases. Hence, you do not have to pause if you do not want to. Some reactors even listen to the whole song without pausing before they start their breakdown, and they do not get struck down for it. Anyway, you have now seen the two extremes of Band-Maid, having down their earliest song followed shortly by their latest song. Glad you liked what you heard.
I already made the request to Miku in 2019 in New York, so that they come to Quebec. Until today, band-maid has never come to Canada unlike Hanabie, Scandal, Babymetal....we need to create more fans of band-maid in Canada for them to come here. Band-maid in Toronto or Montreal has become a fantasy.I am a member in good standing of the band-maid fan club but I still hope that they come to Canada.
a suggestion try checking out the documentary on each member by ohrenje get to know them start with miku she is the heart and soul of band-maid if not for her there never would have been a band-maid
I'm thinking maybe the border hassle isn't worth it for just 1 or 2 shows but if they do come across the border but don't want to travel too far, there are a couple of venues in St. Catharines and Niagara Falls that are the perfect size for them to play, namely the OLG stage at Fallsview Casino and the Meridian Centre.
Ahhh very fair! Though most J-rock bands atleast visit Toronto while they are in North America. Here’s hoping they make us a stop on there next tour! 🤘🏻😭
Pause as often as you want.... BUT! Please rewind 10 seconds after doing so, because you miss so many things when you don't. Also.... don't pause for algorithm purposes: Band-Maid doesn't copyright strike reactions. They *WILL* copyright CLAIM them, but they won't block or strike you. So don't pause just for the sake of pausing - only pause when you need to.
They identify as a hard rock band, but there's a lot of punk in their sound. Sometimes it comes out as pop-punk/emo (Alone), sometimes it's more punk rock (Don't Let Me Down, Unleash!!!!!), and sometimes it's more thrash (Rinne, Black Hole, maybe Different, _definitely_ the bridge in Beauty and the Beast). You're not the first person to think post hardcore. As you saw in Thrill, they all used to have maid outfits... but Saiki HATED hers, and it doesn't seem like MISA was into it either, so they got less and less maidlike over the years (although Saiki's kept the maid headband thing). I'm not sure Akane cares either way, but she wants something light with a lot of freedom of movement, so her outfits tend to be shorts and nearly sleeveless tops that keep the black and white theme and maybe look a little crazy. Kanami's fine with looking like a maid, but her outfit's generally gotten more conservative (longer skirt, flats instead of heels, etc). Miku always has a maid costume as it was her idea and she's super into it. They almost always perform or do media appearances in uniform, but they used a different look for Bestie, which was a collab with Mike Einziger of Incubus, and there was an acoustic concert they did in different clothes. Oh, and then there's Band-Maiko... Other people have said this, but Band-Maid and their label are pretty chill about reactions. They'll claim the monetization, but videos rarely get blocked and they hardly ever strike people (when they do, it's almost always for unreleased/paywalled content, and sometimes not even then). Pause as much as you want but don't feel like you're forced to. New EP sometime this summer(?). No international tour news yet for 2025, but they've done multiple US tours so we expect to see them again eventually. Definitely do see them live if you can, they're an AWESOME live show and videos can't capture the full experience of seeing them in person.
Band maids vocals work very much like lane stayley and jerry Cantrell of alice in chains, saiki being the deeper voice , sings from her gut like lane did, rip. Miku has more range , sings from her chest like jerry , theres some songs thats just miku , no saiki
All BAND-MAID songs are different, except for 'Different'. It's the same. BAND-MAID has the loosest restriction. Some Reactors have gotten away with saving their comments until the end. Saiki (Psyche) is the lead singer. The other vocalist is Miku their founder.Their outfits changed with every tour. They've evolved from Maid to Rock Super Hero over time. The closest they've been to Canada has been show in Seattle, Detroit, Chicago and New York.
As long as you are reacting to the stuff Band-Maid themselves put up on YT or other official Band-Maid social media accounts you don't need to worry about strikes etc. You will likely get a copyright claim though, but that will just take the ad revenue.
