You need to test the 17hmr against 22mag, just remember to be fair use hollow point or the Hornaday polymer tip bullets. I'm sure due to the heavier grain bullet the 22mag will have better penetration, the 17hmr will dump all it energy on impact it is just a necked down 22mag.

Goober has the better rest. Front and rear sandbag.
I have a Ruger American .22 mag and the fore stock is really flexible.
Having the bipod way out at the end (on the swivel stud) flexes the stock enough that it touches the barrel.
Better to use a sandbag or bipod closer to the action.

I watched an older Taeofladermouse (spelling) video comparing 22 shorts to 22 long rifle, surprisingly, the 22 short outperformed the 22LR in some instances. And the .22 short contains no powder, the only propellant is the rimfire "paste" in the rim typically used to ignite the powder in 22LR&22WMR. Strange. Ive shot all of them, hunted with each, the WMR takes the cake. However, the Winchester .17 WSM, also rimfire, destroys all. That round is insane. The WSM compared to the WMR is like comparing a 25ACP to a 300 RUM when shooting at 100,200, especially 300 yards.

Maybe I'll get the new Walther 22mag pistol though. + the mag guy shooting out of a bolt, 100% energy. 10/22 auto, guessing maybe 25 to 30% energy loss. The magnum is going to be going closer to 1950/1975 in the same 18 inch barrel again at the muzzle.
Yes not a fair comparison. A FMJ is designed not to expand so there's gonna be very little transfer of energy to be displayed in that medium. Do you wanna prove something put something out there that you can record penetration and you'll find the devil Lassiter probably won't do more than an couple inch's in say clay or ballistic gel. But that Magnum Might clear a 16 inch block.

Honestly I doublt there's an equal analogue in .22LR to the FMJ in .22wmr, since LR uses soft lead in general.

Thanks for watching! Everything has its place in the environment. The beaver does not have any natural predators where I live and their population is exploding. It's painful when I see people shooting a gun that's not sighted in. I don't understand why people do that. Eather they have no clue haw to sight s gun in or they simply don't care. My cousin just got a .22magum a month ago and he came up to my house to shoot it at my range and I put up a paper plate at 50 yards and the gun was shooting way high left and he turns to me and said owe it's hitting rite on. I said dude it's way off and he said well its good enough for me. It was painful to see what stupidity
