I'll be fair: I absolutely loved Rupert Friend's tone of voice and the type of class he brought to the character. But there was no reason why Jason Isaacs shouldn't have played live action Grand Inquisitor
@@MyToastyToast I do remember that at the time of the trailers releasing it was known he did want reprise role. (And seems to be reprising it for Tales Of The Empire.) And I'm pretty sure he stated he did want to play him in live action however at the time he was caught up in another project all together so they had to get Rupert Friend in.
Really curious if they tried to get Jason for the series at all. Either he didn't want to go in all the makeup/or had scheduling conflicts, or maybe the actor they went with cost less money.
Huge improvement! A Nice blend between the original voice talent and the physical live-action performance, like Witwer/Park both bringing Maul to Solo.
I can’t get over the Grand Inquisitor’s eyes, they look human, his species as we saw in ROTS are suppose to have large black irises, I can forgive the small head but this is just wrong.
Yep. Pauans don't have white eyes. Their eyes and pupils are entirely black. But when a pauan like the grand Inquisitor turns to the dark side for example the pupils turn yellow which is what we see perfectly executed in rebels. The grand Inquisitor in Kenobi is a joke.
I think Rupert’s characterization is still off, he said he decided he was a pompous windbag who liked the sound of his own voice, and didn’t even watch all his appearances in Rebels. So the script here is still off. BUT, Jason Isaacs elevates it considerably. This sounded amazing.
Really weird how the Kenobi show did The Grand Inquisitor so dirty. It's almost nothing like Rebels. Nothing against the actor ofc, the major faults are in the dialogues, photography and directing.
Man, I wish I had a way to convert the Grand Inquisitor's voice to Jason Isaacs in the Kenobi episodes. That'd be one helluva bonus feature for the upcoming 4K Blu-Ray set, lol.
This was done rather well. I had practiced doing Rupert's voice for the Grand Inquisitor when the show was releasing so I remember the lines and tones rather well, and I can tell it is just the original audio filtered to be Jason Isaacs's voice and the higher tones that end some sentences do break the immersion, and especially at the end where the Grand Inquisitor is practically shouting, Isaacs would have not delivered the lines in that way, the rest is rather convincing though. Would be interesting to see a possible deepfake of Jason's face on him, however seeing as there are no images of him in the make up of the Grand Inquisitor that would certainly prove a challenge and would require editting the images being used I'd imagine. But still great AI work.
This actor was great. Were I not used to Jason Issacs this would have been excellent. Its much more than a voice, its a timing and its a menacing. The actor in Kenobi approached it differently and mad eit their own, menacing in another way. Jason Issacs is the voice of the Inquistor to me.
He should’ve been full cg like the utapou people in revenge of the sith but with modern tech, and voiced by Jason Issacs. I liked Rupert Friend’s performance but I don’t understand why they didn’t do that because Jason Issacs is returning as the voice in Tales of the Empire, so it’s not like he’s against Disney and wouldn’t come back
As it should've been. Nothing against the actor but Jason Issacs should've been the Inquisitor in live action.
He was planned to be, it was a scheduling conflict
@@shoot646really?

A better comparison.

Jason Isaac’s didn’t want to is the only reason. He passed the role because of the makeup part

@@GREATRJ1doing voice and doing live action is different things. Makeup is pretty tought thing to make and wear, it may be the reason

It should be Jason Isaacs in that makeup.

@@albertkleppin2320iirc he was filming something else at the time. Regardless I doubt Disney would shell out the money anyway

Jason plus some extra prosthetics to make his head bigger so he’s not just a dude in makeup but an actual Pau’aun

Poor Peter Serofinowicz regarding Maul in Solo
@@AlienIOIandroktone Agreed, they should have combined Witwer and Serofinowicz.
@@AlienIOIandroktonethey they should’ve kept his live action voice for live action
Now we just need this mashed up with a CGI makeover of his head.
It's interesting, certain lines sound just like Jason and certain lines just sound like the original lowered in pitch.

Well, Friend didn't watch Rebels at all
This is really good. It sounds as if Jason Issacs was always in Obi Wan
This was an Incredible Masterpiece Re Dud as Jason Isaacs as The Voice of The Grand Inquisitor and Rupert Friend as The Body of The Grand Inquisitor.
Now we just need CGI Editors to fix the Grand Inquisitor's head shape and eyes, and we're all set.
This is amazing! Id love to see more redubs like this
After watching The Patriot and Star Wars Rebels they really dropped the ball with this casting.
Ugh, this is do good. Would love all the lines made available this way
Much better, still need to fix the head, and his dialogue.
Yeah that all needs work but Jason seriously elevates it.

Just waiting for an Isaacs deepfake now
Rupert Friend is a great actor, but I think Jason Isaacs was more suitable for the role
that, is the Grand Inquisitor even without the accurate head shape and eyes

Awesome!!
Jason was awesome in A Cure for Wellness I had no idea he was in Rebels shame he wasn't in Kenobi
Even his head form is close enough to the Rebel's design
I wish Jason Isaacs did this in full makeup. Not to knock this guy, but come on. Isaacs.
It wouldve made sense to see jason issacs. His mannerism and everything. Basically shouldve been the space lucious malfoy
woow this sounds so good
Rupert's voice is still good, but I do like this edit, wish his head was bigger, it's like they forgot his species exist
When you find out Luke is the son of Vader
Well done!
It should've been him.
