@@johnnygyro2295 Actually, the whole Zamasu thing does happen in one of Xenoverse 2's DLC story arcs, however the only actual crossover point with canon is when Zamasu literally becomes the very fabric of the universe and starts bleeding into other timelines. All the events in Xenoverse leading up to that take place in a corrupted pocket timeline.
It sounds nice, but all he'd really do is fight for screen time like everyone else. What would he do, take Tien's place in the Tournament of Power? Steal a few wins from Android 18 or Gohan? DB needs to allocate time to each character through separate arcs. Leaving Trunks in your back pocket to be the star of an arc later down the road is much easier than having yet another character in the secondary protagonist role.

I wouldn't want Future Trunks to come back. The reason I love his character is because he's always been fighting for something near and dear to him, and that's always presented really well. If he were just slapped in the ToP or even the Buu arc he wouldn't have any more to lose than anybody else in the main cast, he'd lose his edge. I'd rather have the main timeline Trunks be developed into his own character.

You could do a side series. With there being 2 Trunks and Mai in that one timeline, Chronoa notices this anomaly and decides to pop in on the 2 that survived Goku Black. She says they can't stay there due to them destabilising the Space-Time Continuum and offers Trunks and Mai to join her in her "Kai Space" and become the first Time Patrollers. Then just turn Xenoverse into a series where Trunks is the main character (not the player character). Just make sure it's written well enough and you'll have a secondary series that might improve what Heroes is failing to do.
I hope he doesn't return. They used him horribly. They literally destroyed his happy ending of *saving his world* from 15 years of terror just to sell toys. Toys! And not any kind of toys. Just recoloured versions of toys (trunks super, black goku) or the same toy (vegeto).
Not only do I want him to return as he is my favorite character, I disagree, I loved everything in the Trunks arc except for that ending but as someone else has pointed out this leaves Trunks in the perfect position to introduce the Time Patrol so that ending could be redeemed as well.

I agree. It's blasphemy. Apart from destroying his timeline (erasing*) they also took away some of his Z development. Personally I just follow my own headcanon at this point. Especially after minus. I find it ludicrous that people still try to fit super into an objective main continuity for Dragon ball.. But besides that my headcanon is that DBS Future Trunks is a different one from the Z version. I can even go so far into headcanon that I put Z Future Trunks as Xeno Future Trunks. (don't worry I'm just crazy)

They could have the “other” Future Trunks come back you know the one where Future Trunks and Future Mai go to after the Zamasu arc. Since the Zamasu arc never happened this Trunks is more relaxed and can explore his character on having another Trunks and Mai around.
mattwo7 maybe have the other Trunks be the Time Patroller? The one timeline where Future Trunks and Mai stopped Zamasu’s plan before it happened and so the “Other” Trunks can do his thing while the Trunks we know can finally live a peaceful life.
Theres definitely something about saiyans gaining something from the presence of super saiyan gods. I mean isnt that what the whole "rage" transformation is? Super saiyan blue infused super saiyan 2? And vegeta did not exactly do the ritual that goku did. Goku said it himself *"He did it all on his own"* And then theres how easily the universe 6 saiyans achieved super saiyan. Its almost as if saiyans unlock the potential for any transformation as soon as they *see* it. Really puts into perspective how amazing the original transformation is. If what im saying holds any water anyways. ( They could even use this to explain goten and (kid)trunks transformations. )

I wouldnt say it's as they see the transformation. If that's the case Goten and Trunks should be able to turn Blue which we all know they can't. Gohan as well since he fought his dad in Blue Unless you're born with an unusual amount of S cells like Goten and Trunks then you will have to train to unlock the form (hence, Vegeta, Gohan, Future Trunks.) You have to be taught how to access the power. (And it comes from a need for power) same with Super Saiyan 2 and 3 you have to train the Super Saiyan form not just your base to reach these powers. God and Blue require God ki. Something you can either obtain on your own like Vegeta, or have given to you like Goku. Then you can train to mix the God power with your Super Saiyan power to obtain forms like Blue and Blue Evolution,

Also i just assume Gohan doesnt have it because hes devoted to his human side. His path is without transformations. I mean you wont get it if you're not aiming for it.

Only way trunks should return is if they do a multiverse arc or series... dbs trunks is honestly perfect for the role of someone who travels to different times and dimensions to stop threats.

I feel like Future Trunks could have grown to have more of a lightheartedness. I mean look at how Vegeta and Piccolo started out as serious and slowly got their comedic moments.
Honestly, I would love to see Xeno-Trunks and Chronoa in anime. Outside Heroes. Heck, there would be one idea for what Toei can do. Make anime about Xenoverse series.
The only way they can probably add Trunks back into the series without having him be stressful is being a parent of his own kids he has with Mai. The kids sneaks into time machine and travel into the past meeting up with Goten and Trunks. However your concept of bringing back Trunks is pretty good too.
I like the time patrol Trunks idea. He could just say after going to this new universe he and Mai didn't feel right staying around so he became a time patroller.

How cool would it have been to have Trunks in the ToP? To see him and Gohan fighting side by side. The episode where Trunks saw how happy Gohan was to have a family really stuck with me. Trunks could light a fire under Gohan and really push the reason they had to fight.

I have mixed feelings about this. On the one hand I don’t have to get angry at his hair. Yes I know it’s old news and done to death at this point but it’s still annoying they did that. And also I kind of want him to be happy at this point only without living with a double. On the other he was on of my fav characters and was happy to see more of him and he brought back the serious tone I miss from Z. I think I can accept that he’ll never return though I doubt Beerus would allow him to and that’s why they didn’t bring him back, cause the Grand Priest might be able to tell he wasn’t from this timeline since Angels can do anything.

I think when I really look at it, it's the Brief family that seems to have had this fate befall them. Future Bulma only got what, literally ten more years after the last time she saw her son, he was a badass of the future back to tell his friends, knowing that Cell would appear. I was wondering how deeply the games are going to connect to the manga and anime, due to one thing being consistent I noticed. The Supreme Kai of Time was one who I was thinking of fitting to make an anime appearance to reintroduce Trunks in a manner that would allow him to grow as a character. He is in his thirties in Super I believe. Our thinking is pretty much the same on Trunks it seems ;).
Never really connected that EXACT character trait of deadly seriousness between Future Trunk and Tien until now, but always kind of felt there was something unspokenly similar about them.
i like the idea of future trunks going back to his time after cell games and some time later being recruited for time patrol. this way he'll never be ruined by super we get to keep our original future trunks with grey hair and everyone else get to see another timeline trunks with blue hair
I would like you to analyze his entrance. I would like to see how he handles problems on his own, so if Tori uses him, it should be in his own future where he is the focus and doesn't go back in the past for help.
Future Trunks goes forward in time and see's DBS and refuses to be apart of it and simply ceases to exist moments later whilst an odd-looking robot with claw hands chuckles with a giant eraser in claw.
This is what ive been assuming the original arc in Kakkorott is going to be. It makes sense with how trunks is in the game along with him always being around.
I was thinking at the time when he gone off to 'another timeline' that they would probably bring him back as a member of the time patrol at a later date - Supreme Kai of Time goes to investigate a newly changed timeline to find Trunks and Mai. He is given a purpose to not allow time travel to be abused in the future. He comes back when someone a kin to Demigra? has been messing with timelines and boom you have another arc with him in it. Once again wouldn't stay at the end because 'he cant misuse the ability to time travel and he 'has learned his lesson' or something.
I always kinda saw Xenoverse Trunks as his continued canon... just seems right for him... For a true happy ending, couldn't the super dragonballs be used to restore his timeline to a natural state and resurrect all the good people?
I agree! Our Future Trunks should have met Chronoa and become Xeno Trunks. That would have been awesome and natural development for him! I would love to have seen that and the adventures that series would bring! They could even through the Time Patrol go help series go back into GT and fix that series to make it even better. Plus it would keep Future Trunks fighting so we could have seen him develop his own god transformations! He could even begin training Kid Trunks and Goten as time patrollers to prepare them as future main characters and their succession to take place of Goku and Vegeta. So much could have been done.
time patrol trunks makes sense to me for what could happen in his life next. it would eliminate the problem of there being two trunks' in the same universe and as you said allow him to make up for his own disruption of time. if toei wont do it, you can in a what if!
Thank you! His entire character arc was erased and be default so has everything Bulma went through then they turned around and made everyone that was left alive giving trunks hope for his magical sword slash too since they were erased. It was an empty Calorie arc
Have a story around Trunks and Mia time hopping through the timestream looking for a new home. First Arc is focused on just that and the consequences of their existence in said timestream. Second Arc, Chronoa catches wind and appears before Future Trunks and Mia through Telepathy. Second Arc is all about Trunks and Mia training under Chronoa to fix the time stream. We get flashbacks to Future Trunks and Future Mia's past (Between Cell Saga and Goku Black Saga). Treat these flashbacks as "Specials" and for there to be a meaning for said episodes. Probably, use those Special Episodes to tie into the training that Mia and Trunks have to go through. Third Arc Trunks and Mia finally go out on their first set of missions. Use this to introduce other characters who don't belong in the time stream. Anyone else thinking Good boy Super Broly as a Time Patrol Officer? Heck finish off the entire thing with a movie where Trunks unlocks a new Super-Saiyan form. I dunno maybe something to do with Time.
I think the Time Patroller position, at this point, is the only evolution that makes sense for Trunks. Even with the "backup copy" of his timeline having been made, a Trunks and Mai already exist there, so the two of them are pretty much completely displaced in time and space, and since Trunks is arguably responsible for the whole timeline divide in the first place, I doubt it would take too much pressure to rope him into a community service situation. As far as tone goes, I think his serious nature juxtaposed with the way the Supreme Kai of Time runs things can make for good comedy if utilized properly.
Me (seeing Trunks debut in the USA for the first time): hey, this guy has my hairstyle... neat (Trunks takes out all the minions) Me: well, yeah that was flashy and all, but I think Krillian could have done that (Trunks takes out Frieza and King Cold in one hit) Me: OH MY GOD, HE IS SO COOL!!!
With the way his story ended, I wish they had NEVER brought him back. His Super arc made his struggle in Z feel utterly pointless in retrospect. THANKS DBS!!!

Theres definitely something about saiyans gaining something from the presence of super saiyan gods.
I mean isnt that what the whole "rage" transformation is? Super saiyan blue infused super saiyan 2?
And vegeta did not exactly do the ritual that goku did. Goku said it himself *"He did it all on his own"*
And then theres how easily the universe 6 saiyans achieved super saiyan.
Its almost as if saiyans unlock the potential for any transformation as soon as they *see* it.

I wouldnt say it's as they see the transformation. If that's the case Goten and Trunks should be able to turn Blue which we all know they can't. Gohan as well since he fought his dad in Blue
Unless you're born with an unusual amount of S cells like Goten and Trunks then you will have to train to unlock the form (hence, Vegeta, Gohan, Future Trunks.) You have to be taught how to access the power. (And it comes from a need for power) same with Super Saiyan 2 and 3 you have to train the Super Saiyan form not just your base to reach these powers.
God and Blue require God ki. Something you can either obtain on your own like Vegeta, or have given to you like Goku. Then you can train to mix the God power with your Super Saiyan power to obtain forms like Blue and Blue Evolution,

Gotenks is also another example. Goten and Trunks were captivated by super saiyan 3.

Also i just assume Gohan doesnt have it because hes devoted to his human side.
His path is without transformations.

Oh wait his ultimate form may not be a apparent transformation design change but it's still a state; so he's still transforming when he goes into his maximum power. Plus if he obtained mui or omen ultra instinct it would have - theme wise - looked and felt as if his previous statement had some vilidity to it and as if gohan had unlocked a power he's father knew he had.... but like always goku gets all forms and all the others get dirt, no logic or brains in any of this.
Gohan was aiming for thus but plot wasn't in his favor

I feel like Future Trunks could have grown to have more of a lightheartedness. I mean look at how Vegeta and Piccolo started out as serious and slowly got their comedic moments.

The only way they can probably add Trunks back into the series without having him be stressful is being a parent of his own kids he has with Mai. The kids sneaks into time machine and travel into the past meeting up with Goten and Trunks.
However your concept of bringing back Trunks is pretty good too.
Future Trunks will NEVER return...in The Avengers.
I like the time patrol Trunks idea. He could just say after going to this new universe he and Mai didn't feel right staying around so he became a time patroller.

How cool would it have been to have Trunks in the ToP? To see him and Gohan fighting side by side. The episode where Trunks saw how happy Gohan was to have a family really stuck with me. Trunks could light a fire under Gohan and really push the reason they had to fight.
For real tho, Tapion should be with Trunks in the Time Patrol.

I have mixed feelings about this.
On the one hand I don’t have to get angry at his hair. Yes I know it’s old news and done to death at this point but it’s still annoying they did that. And also I kind of want him to be happy at this point only without living with a double.
On the other he was on of my fav characters and was happy to see more of him and he brought back the serious tone I miss from Z.
I think I can accept that he’ll never return though I doubt Beerus would allow him to and that’s why they didn’t bring him back, cause the Grand Priest might be able to tell he wasn’t from this timeline since Angels can do anything.

I think when I really look at it, it's the Brief family that seems to have had this fate befall them. Future Bulma only got what, literally ten more years after the last time she saw her son, he was a badass of the future back to tell his friends, knowing that Cell would appear.
I was wondering how deeply the games are going to connect to the manga and anime, due to one thing being consistent I noticed. The Supreme Kai of Time was one who I was thinking of fitting to make an anime appearance to reintroduce Trunks in a manner that would allow him to grow as a character. He is in his thirties in Super I believe. Our thinking is pretty much the same on Trunks it seems ;).
Never really connected that EXACT character trait of deadly seriousness between Future Trunk and Tien until now, but always kind of felt there was something unspokenly similar about them.

I was thinking at the time when he gone off to 'another timeline' that they would probably bring him back as a member of the time patrol at a later date - Supreme Kai of Time goes to investigate a newly changed timeline to find Trunks and Mai. He is given a purpose to not allow time travel to be abused in the future.
He comes back when someone a kin to Demigra? has been messing with timelines and boom you have another arc with him in it. Once again wouldn't stay at the end because 'he cant misuse the ability to time travel and he 'has learned his lesson' or something.

I agree! Our Future Trunks should have met Chronoa and become Xeno Trunks. That would have been awesome and natural development for him! I would love to have seen that and the adventures that series would bring! They could even through the Time Patrol go help series go back into GT and fix that series to make it even better. Plus it would keep Future Trunks fighting so we could have seen him develop his own god transformations! He could even begin training Kid Trunks and Goten as time patrollers to prepare them as future main characters and their succession to take place of Goku and Vegeta. So much could have been done.

time patrol trunks makes sense to me for what could happen in his life next. it would eliminate the problem of there being two trunks' in the same universe and as you said allow him to make up for his own disruption of time. if toei wont do it, you can in a what if!

Thank you! His entire character arc was erased and be default so has everything Bulma went through then they turned around and made everyone that was left alive giving trunks hope for his magical sword slash too since they were erased. It was an empty Calorie arc

Never been so hurt by just reading a video title
Have a story around Trunks and Mia time hopping through the timestream looking for a new home. First Arc is focused on just that and the consequences of their existence in said timestream. Second Arc, Chronoa catches wind and appears before Future Trunks and Mia through Telepathy. Second Arc is all about Trunks and Mia training under Chronoa to fix the time stream. We get flashbacks to Future Trunks and Future Mia's past (Between Cell Saga and Goku Black Saga). Treat these flashbacks as "Specials" and for there to be a meaning for said episodes. Probably, use those Special Episodes to tie into the training that Mia and Trunks have to go through. Third Arc Trunks and Mia finally go out on their first set of missions. Use this to introduce other characters who don't belong in the time stream. Anyone else thinking Good boy Super Broly as a Time Patrol Officer? Heck finish off the entire thing with a movie where Trunks unlocks a new Super-Saiyan form. I dunno maybe something to do with Time.
I think the Time Patroller position, at this point, is the only evolution that makes sense for Trunks. Even with the "backup copy" of his timeline having been made, a Trunks and Mai already exist there, so the two of them are pretty much completely displaced in time and space, and since Trunks is arguably responsible for the whole timeline divide in the first place, I doubt it would take too much pressure to rope him into a community service situation. As far as tone goes, I think his serious nature juxtaposed with the way the Supreme Kai of Time runs things can make for good comedy if utilized properly.
