A bit late to the comments but I just got my 18 zr2 and took it mudding the day after I got it, I’m talking almost 10 inches of water plus a lot of sloppy mud, handled it like a champ although I did get nervous that I would get stuck, it’s a great truck and will serve me well, thank you for the reinforcement with the video!!
You have to hold Down the traction Control button for almost 10 seconds before it turns it completely off. You’ll see the light flash when it turns off. Don’t forget off road mode also. Push in the Four-wheel-drive knob
Holding it down for 10 seconds will turn off traction control and stabilitrak. It should automatically put you in off-road mode but if not you can hit the center button of the 4x4 knob and then hold down the traction control button until traction/stabilitrak is off. Had the same problem when I first got my ZR2
@@RFRacing717 it is going to be your right but something about the size of that truck with its capability makes me like it maybe it was the wow factor because it surprised the hell outta me
You, Mike, and Shane need to start offering 3x T-shirts and hoodies. Some of us aren’t as small as we used to be, but we would like to support the channels! Make it happen please!
Swapped out my ZR2 for a Mojave Gladiator. I can’t believe how much better the Gladiator drives and handles off-roading. I hate to say it, but Jeep is really on to something with the Gladiator.
In 4lo even with off-road mode and traction/stability completely disengaged, there is still traction control in the driveline. This is to prevent the truck from tearing itself apart. With the owners manual of a zr2 there is an additional pamphlet labeled “getting to know your zr2”. It explains how off-road mode and different 4wd settings affect traction control. Next time, try off road mode, then hold down traction control until you get a message saying stabilitrak disengaged. This turns everything off and allows you to keep rear locked regardless of speed.
It made it up that hill in its 4 high. No lockers engaged and no offroad mode and traction control still halfway on. Very impressed. Forgot the truck even had an offroad mode or else it definitely would have been on.
@@RFRacing717 awesome. I’ve had mine for almost three years. The truck’s only real limiting factor off-road has been between the drivers seat and the steering wheel. Looking forward to the rest of the build.
Snow seems to be very much about the tires. Take a look at the Mickey Thompson Baja boss AT’s. The duratracs have a good rep but these paddle through anything. Did you use the twin lockers?
The trd pro tacoma has no front locker the fox shocks while alright on and offroad the shocks on the colorado are better and toyotas reliability at least with the 2019 to 22 colorados is about the same the only real breaker for alot of people on the taco is the seating its really cramped but they are still capable trucks but for 55k and no front locker im good
I've got a GMC Canyon All Terrain and i wanted a ZR2 but my truck is mostly a daily driver/hunting truck and only sees occasional off road duty. Once the next gen Colorado comes out in a couple years i may get the next gen ZR2
Ya make sure you have Off Road Mode on and hold down the traction control switch for 10 seconds, your power shouldn't cut off. Rad video, keep them coming.
Trick is you got to turn off traction control and then stabilitrack. you press the traction control button then press it again and hold it. it will throw a light on the dash showing its off then you can have fun.
I off-road pretty frequently in my new 2020 canyon all terrain and I absolutely hate how the traction control kicks on and cuts the power. Love the truck and will go through almost anything.
I bought my wife a zr2 just for the snow. There aren't too many vehicles that will outperform a zr2 in the snow. 4 low with both lockers engaged will push right through tall drifts and climb steep slick hills.
No it doesnt hold the traction button down for 10 seconds with offroad mode on and it wont come on I drove for about 19 to 20 hours in the Rocky mountains with it off on slicker then bullshit roads
Just a word of ⚠ warning⚠ before jumping. The Chevrolet Colorado ZR2 is a solid little awesome off road machine, but be careful when jumping it. The frames are prone to flexing behind the rear cab/front bed.
I bought a 2020 trail boss last year its liveld with 35s among other things but I don't beat up my shit its a pavement princess well some dirt roads I love the truck
If you guys want some new beds for the houses HMU on Socials SlayuhGG if ur near the Scottsdale/Swatara in Harrisburg area we can deliver really far. I can work you guys a deal. I’m a manager of the store. We have Tempers,Airlooms, and some other brands. I been watching you guys for awhile. Yup! Offroad mode first then hold traction control for 10 seconds. Love my ZR2
@@camguy1730 can even get a lift and run 35's on it
A Trailboss will never be as good off road as that zr2
Exactly. It will get stuck more, better content.
I have a ZR2 extra cab diesel and you are correct, they are very impressive off road. But what nobody ever mentions is how good the truck is on road.
You're right! And the V6 is even better! Very impressive trucks!
@@The_T_Rav excuse me? Did you just say the V6 is even better?!!?! I heard they have a shutters transmission that rides like crap 😂
@@ziadajam5433 there’s a reason they discontinued the diesel… it’s junk.
Don’t think you will be happy with the Trail Boss after the ZR2. No front locker or DSSV’s. Wait for the Silverado ZR2 next year
Definitely won’t like trailboss after the ZR2. It’s a Toyota Camry basically haha
@@CarsCatsCannabis Hahaha so true
I thought the same thing, keep the ZR2 Bobby it's a much more capable truck off-road!
Yeah they put alot more thought into the zr2
The DSSVs are worthless on the rear as long as the leaf springs are left on.
Now THAT'S a selling point for this truck! Wish I'd seen this before i got my full size Ram.
That ZR2 is impressive. The new Toyota is a beast too, but for the money it can’t be beat
Holding it down for 10 seconds will turn off traction control and stabilitrak. I’m all for a V8 truck but this thing has continued to prove it’s worth.
Keep it up man. This is the content you need to be sending out to grow. You're a good guy and I would like to see you win!!!
ZR2’s are awesome. I feel when the wheels break traction it tells me I got this man.
Lmao I do remember the jump in the red truck. Good times.
You’ve been around for a minute bro
I remember the Dakota good times
i might actually like that colarado more then the silverado!
Offroad wise it would wreck any stock Silverado. I heard about a possible Silverado zr2 dropping in 2022 though. That would be sick
@@RFRacing717 It is going to have the n/a 6.2 but I can't tell you where i heard that

Sheeeet, a Silverado ZR2. Take my money, my kidneys, my firstborn and my stimulus check (never mind, got lied to again).
Super sick🤘🤘
Love the ZR2
I learned a valuable life lesson today: when you're so close to giving up, just give it the beans and you'll make it up that hill.
Really enjoying the ZR2 content
Still has a shift knob and center console from a 1995 cavalier
Make sure to put in off road mode before the stabilitrak disable. Should be fine!
I’m an idiot. Forgot that was even a feature.
@@RFRacing717 After two ZR2s and many times forgetting to do that, you remember... thats what we are here for haha

yup mid size is a better off road machine! I agree!

I didn't realize that thing had front and rear electronic locking diffs....hell that ZR2 is probably better off road than the Trail Boss
Really enjoyed the video! Keep the bangers coming!
"ANY vehicle will get stuck if you try hard enough!" Even a Sherp!
The one ad on this video “looking at the Colorado? Might want to take a look at the all new Ford ranger” 😂
Do NOT get a ranger 😂
Mike dude, you're cracking me up! you get so excited about shit😂😂
Ah the dakota what a classic
I love that truck... Would like a different colour though
I like the color. Looks like FDE
Color will look better when the build is complete. I will admit that it clashes with all the extra chrome Chevy puts on their trucks.

Great truck for offroad, would love to see a two-door Blazer of it. Sadly Japan's competition crossover has killed a dream, a Zr2 new Blazer.

The ZR2 needs to come with a mild lift and 34" tires minimum from the factory. The new Raptor will be available with 37" tires from the factory.
Thanks, just bought one, waiting for it to come in..siked
loving this content and the truck :D
I remember my first beer
The little ZR2 that could awesome truck
Good advertisement for the ZR2

I if you pull the fuse to the traction control will completely disable it while you are 4x4 ing.

Press and hold the trac button and it’ll disable everything.
I love my 2021 ZR2!
Is traction control ever actually helpful?
Where in the country is this?
Oh did you have “terrain mode” engaged? It shuts off TC and lets you rev the crap out of it.
The ZR2 needs full skids, 32’ + tires, shorter gears, and some more power.
It is still a great ride stock.
You can get full skid plates on it, the 3.6 offers the HP and the diesel offers class leading torque.
Subscribed.... I'd LOVE to get a Colorado ZR2 but my budget says NO.. :(
Yesssss the Dakota
nice video, thanks for posting.
Why step down from a ZR2 to a Trail Boss?
You definitely can totally disengage traction control and he should be in low range.
