Thank you for the Super Thanks. We really appreciate it Rodney 🙌. What a fantastic gift to start our week off with. Hope you had an awesome weekend buddy 🤙😎
@rodneyperkins1057 awesome to hear. You can’t beat Scotland can you. We have a playlist of all our Scotland content but any questions just let us know. We can’t wait to get back up there 🙌. Been watching a few vlogs of people in Scotland and the place just makes our hearts sing. We also created a map of everything we’ve done and more in Scotland, links in the description if it takes your fancy. Happy Monday 🙌🤙
Such a good and informative video. Absolutely sound advice for anyone looking into getting an older camper. I have always loved the idea of van life and was looking into it but health issues put a stop to it. I am now looking again as the rental market is becoming unaffordable and I have always dreamed of a life on the road. Thanks so much guys I am a relatively new subscriber and I absolutely love your content, personalities and gorgeous fur babies.
Thanks Andrea, we really appreciate this lovely comment 🤗. Sorry to hear about your health issues. An older van maybe a cheaper way to get into vanlife, especially looking at the rental market. To rent a van isn’t cheap if you want to get away more than a couple of times a year. It lovely to have the freedom to hit the road when you like 🙌. Thank you for subscribing and joining our gang and journey. This comment really has made our Friday 🙏. We hope you’re having an awesome day and have an even better weekend. Hope to see you in comments on Sundays vlog 😎🤙
Hello, you lovely two, plus doggie plus Pussycat 😜 wonderful vlog. Thank you for the entertainment. We also started with an old camper, a Renault Traffic. Our favourite place to spend our time is Scandinavia and getting parts and repairs over there wasn’t as easy as we wanted it to be so we switched to Ford Transit ( now 20 years old, we have it for 10) which we diy’ed ourselves in the most simplistic way to our needs. Works for us. Greetings from the South Coast of England 👍💝 Ahiranta & Ozay We also use Penske instead of writing up the van and like you guys we made the same window covers from a roll of that silver stuff which we bought from B&Q . Works a treat👍
Hey Guys, Happy Monday, and hope you both had an awesome weekend. Thank you so much for the kindness and positivity. We tried adding more to the editing this week, so we hope it went down well. I can only imagine the fun and games of getting parts and repairs overseas. Fords sound like they are repairable around the world which must be a little more comforting for sure. We’ve definitely been conscious of taking Old Gertie to Europe and her breaking down. We’ve had enough fun with that here lol. Awesome we are both in the South at the moment 🤗. I can’t take any credit for the window covers. That’s all Kez. So much cheaper than the ones we’d bought for our old van. Have a great week, guys and happy travels.
Thanks Carol 🤗. The old vans come with their quirks but we love Old Gertie. It’s all about working with what you have 🙌. Thank you and take care yourself. Hope you’ve had an awesome Monday 🤙
@TristandKez funnily enough I've just done a video about owning an older motorhome too. You're definitely right in yours about listening to them while your driving etc...as I'm finding out with mine 😂😊
No way… snap 🤗. We’ll have to check it out 🙌. Yeah it’s like you become one with the van 😂. But you kinda do. I probably over listen to the van and hear every slight change. It’s OTT 🤣🙈
Thanks so much guys, me and my partner have been trying to do this for a while, and just found our van, you have been a massive part of our journey and squished all our fears as we are also in Scotland! Love you guys - thanks again 🎉
That’s awesome Joshua. We are so happy we have been useful for you both. We are buzzing for you. If you don’t mind us asking, what van did you find? Scotland is the best. We love it so much and can’t wait to head back up soon. Every turn has something new and awesome around the corner. It never fails to impress. Much love back at you. If there’s ever any other questions or anything we can help with just drop us a comment or send us an email. Have an awesome rest of your evening 🤙
Loved this informative video. We started off with a Talbot Express Swift Capri - loved that van and we kept it for nearly 10 years. Sold to a guy in Southern Ireland, hope he's still got it. We're onto our third van now, but still think of all the Talbot Times! Good luck with Gertie!
Hi Grant, thanks so much 🤗. Glad you liked it. Awesome to meet another Tablot or ex Talbot owner 🤙. We are meeting more and more more people through this channel who have one or had one. We feel like we’re part of a new club 🙌. We think the same thing with the person we sold our old van to. You just hope they are enjoying it 😎. What van have you got now? Thanks for dropping a comment, it’s much appreciated. Have an awesome day 🤙
@grant_mcnab very nice Grant. The motorhome looks like a beauty 🤗. Also great idea on renting out a campervan. So many people want to try out a campervan, vanlife and road trips. Love it 🙌🤙
Brilliant guys and we had a great time looking at the older vans on the campsite in the summer. We even had a couple of Talbots travelling together arrive. We have just changed our van from a big motorhome to a van conversion. Definitely top tip to turn over the van every couple of days in winter and I did that today. We were just saying the cottage is great for the winter but we are missing the van although the van heating is not working so another job to the list! Take care Dave n Jo.
Thanks guys 🙏🙌. They are a unique classic vehicle aren’t they 🤗. We’ve met more and more talbot owners on our travels. Lovely bunch of people. Congrats on the new van 😎. Yeah we said we should turn it over every few days. A week went by and we spent 2 hours getting her started 😂. We live and learn lol. Been turning her over ever couple of days now as I can’t go through that again 🤣. Hope you get your heating sorted soon and can have a cheeky van trip 🙌. Happy Sunday Trist, Kez & the gang 🤙

Hey Joe 👋 welcome to the channel and thank you for the kind words 🙌. Glad our tips are resonating and helpful 🤗. We hope anyone looking to buy an older van can get a few tips. We’ve learnt a lot of things the hard way and it would seem even turning your van over every few days in winter, we did not follow 🤣. Happy Sunday and safe travels to you too, Trist, Kez and the gang 🤙

And our insurance with breakdown cover is still cheaper than our friend's brand new Swift Kontike so here's to having an Old Bus! ;-) x
Thank you so much Andrea 🙏. Glad you liked this week’s vlog and are all caught up. Hope you’ve settled in back home 🤗. I think your vehicle has to be 40 years old to be tax and MOT exempt. Old Gerties not too far off. Free road tax would be nice 😂. Always good to have a solid mechanic 🙌. Have an awesome Friday afternoon and evening 😎🤙
As a fellow 'Talboteer' I really enjoy your videos. Have had a Talbot now for nearly 2 years. In fact I remember seeing (and liking) Old Gertie on Gumtree shortly after we bought ours. We have a similar van to yourselves, an Autosleeper Rambler. Some steep learning curves at first but now I would confidently drive anywhere! Hey Sam, we feel your frustration on waiting so long to get repairs… we are sending positive vibes your way 🤗. Our mechanic said to us an older van can be easier to fix or make a temporary fix. We had a temporary fix when our fan switch stopped working in the summer. A simple bypass kept it on whilst the van was on which meant we could get it to our mechanic. 26:25 - I always say, you DRIVE older stuff; you pilot new stuff. You need mechanical sympathy and to 'feel' your way with an older vehicle. Especially gearchanges.
We love this Sam, it’s so on point and so true. The lack of rev counter really threw Kez at first. Now you don’t even realise one isn’t there. You have to become one with the vehicle 🙌
Buzzing that you liked it. We hoped it would be helpful, with a little entertainment thrown in 🤗. Can’t believe Old Gertie played up whilst we were filming 🤣😂. Couldn’t write it 🙈. Hope you’re having and awesome Sunday 🤙
When you drive along to clear the exhaust sometimes on old vehicles ,if your say doing 30-40mph turn off the ignition pump the the throttle 2-3 times then turn the ignition back on ,this clears the back box out and the pipe 😊
Awesome thank you 🙏. I think a few people who subscribe to our channel will find this useful. Had a few conversations along these lines. So really appreciate the advice 😎🤙

We love this Sam, it’s so on point and so true. The lack of rev counter really threw Kez at first. Now you don’t even realise one isn’t there. You have to become one with the vehicle 🙌
I hope you have sourced those portable heaters?
Still on the to-do list 🤗
Where are you going to next?
You'll have to wait and see 🤗
🤙
Extremely useful, thanks guys 🫶👏👏👏😘
Buzzing that you liked it. We hoped it would be helpful, with a little entertainment thrown in 🤗. Can’t believe Old Gertie played up whilst we were filming 🤣😂. Couldn’t write it 🙈. Hope you’re having and awesome Sunday 🤙
😮 Can't believe you haven't got a small lithium engine battery back up pack. Amateurs!!! 😢
Ah there’s always time to get one 🤣. We’ve got a few portables which keep us going. So that’s probably what’s not sped the process up 😂
When you drive along to clear the exhaust sometimes on old vehicles ,if your say doing 30-40mph turn off the ignition pump the the throttle 2-3 times then turn the ignition back on ,this clears the back box out and the pipe 😊
Thanks for the advice. Really appreciate it. We still learning with this old girl 🤙
@TristandKez yeah no worries ,many people don't know how to clear a carburettor these days
@TristandKez the older vehicles tend to carbon up a bit more ,all helps keeping it from getting plugged up with soot
Awesome thank you 🙏. I think a few people who subscribe to our channel will find this useful. Had a few conversations along these lines. So really appreciate the advice 😎🤙
💤💤💤💤🙄
🤣
The best van is the one you own now 😊👍
Love it 🙌 and we love Old Gertie. She’s a little legend of a van 🤗
