My hubby recently had to have surgery. I took my inspiration from you and stealth parked in the hospital car park in my 2 day old motorhome for 2 nights. I would never have even considered it if I hadn’t learnt so much from you. Christmas blessings to you from Australia.
Sad how we are charged to visit ill people. Prince Charles gets some of the money too. Makes you realise how we, the ordinary people, are regarded as prey.
Great video! I’ve done this dozens of times in Premier Inn, Village Hotel and Holiday Inn’s and never had an issue. I always keep it ‘stealthy’, tuck my van away in a corner and I’ve never had an issue. It’s a great way to visit a town or city particularly if the park up is out of town and near a park and ride. Also useful when I need to break up a long journey. I always check it states that overnight parking is allowed and that there’s no mention of sleeping in vehicles being prohibited 😊
This brought back memories of when I was a contractor. I used to park my van exactly the way you parked. I had one small window on the offside behind the driver seat, else it was stealthy. I would go into the hotel with the other contractors and put my reg in the parking system for the hotel. I never had a knock. Cheeky, but it worked and it saved me loads of money.
Many of the Premier Inn car parks and indeed rooms have become semi derelict over the last few years.. so wouldn't worry how or where to park just like many others as long as you can!
Daz i received your book this morning...the writing is a brilliant size to easy read, thank you. Gona start reading it tomorrow. Thank you for being so brill in everything you do. Safe travels Gary n Ellen x
I live in France and I have found that you need a UK phone number to access the Parking app, but it does except a French number plate. For those of us living in another country I would get a cheap UK SIM card so you can complete the registration payment can be made via "Google pay" or a bank card. Thank you for showing this app we may visit the UK now before we always avoided going because the camp site fees where so expensive and at times hard to book due to them being full or booked for months in advance.
Hello Daren. I was put onto a similar app the other week called your parking space. being the law abiding person I am, I called a premier inn to see if parking in their car park over night in my camper through the app was ok and was given a stern no, lol. my preferred destination was premier inn Barry island. The local car parks are silly money during the day as it is a very popular destination and they may not be as lenient as the premier inn you were parked at. maybe easier during off season but anywhere near tourist destinations during high season you may not be as lucky? but always worth a go at £2 or so a night
That’s a great idea, the only thing that worries me are hotel carparks are often targeted for theft from motor vehicles. Mine still looks like a work van.
Try smearing a little bit of Vaseline (Similar lubricants available 😉) around the edge of the opening before you clip the lid onto the Blink camera. That should keep the moisture out.
I used to use blink on my house but have changed to tapo as blink took too long to open & would disconnect from the internet frequently for some reason. Tapo also do door/window sensors plus lots more, worth a look at. You made my dog bark when you rang the doorbell lol Keep the videos coming, love your channel & how upbeat you are
So excited as your book arrives tomorrow to the address I use (full time as well in the van) and I can pick it up before heading off to Exmoor this week.
Parked up on a nice estate with parking bays in the corner, most empty. Near a bridge to a shopping centre. No permits or signs. Saw the curtains twitch from a house a few bays down, which had a vehicle in it. Popped out and coming back from the bridge this chap came flying out of his house at me saying it was private, residents only parking. I said I have known the area for 30 years and never seen a sign or permit and he then said it was just something that was common sense and he'd report me. Who to I have no idea. He then got right up close to me and said don't come back here. I actually reported him to the non-urgent police line incase anything happens in the future. Was my first interaction like that, can't let it put us off though right.
Hi Darran. THANKS !!! The book arrived this afternoon... will catch up to you at one of the shows and get you to sign it. ! Already on chapter three..... Thank for sharing the park up app... had not considered that as a possibility. £2.40 absolute bargain....
That’s price is more like it. I just hate going to those places where it says £10 park up for the night and then you don’t have any facilities at all why do people accept to pay that if I was really desperate and really tired and I couldn’t drive anymore then yes I would pay £10 to park, but other than that no way great video keep them rolling❤😊
Best to do this BEFORE you arrive at these park-ups, other wise, if you turn up to an ANPR cark park, it'll clock you [your reg] for the three hour max (or whatever). Because once that happens, then it's an automatic parking fine if you stay longer. The "Your PARKING Space" app explains it nicely.
Parking aside (It will be stopped now you have publicised it), do you think it is wise to have a large, unrestrained water holder sitting on the floor when driving? Easy to imagine what that will do to anything infront of it in a collision .
Used to stop in the car park on a regular basis at Gargrave which was shared with the premier inn and the Anchor pub . However on park for night someone stated premier inn was stopping campervans, however after I spoke to the landlord of the Anchor we used the car park many times. Often in the Anchor staff would say you cannot stop over, however the landlord always let us. Until premier in put up cameras with time restrictions. Which was a shame as we would have a few drinks,a meal each then back in for breakfast. We used to joke it was like stopping all inclusive.
i stayed in the carpark at milton keynes football ground that is a hotel and a shopping centre . but they now charge £10 over night for guests. the option is to park in ASDA next door
I didn't realise lioness was a Taylor Sheridan show so will give that a go as anything he does seems to be spot on. I've just started Senna a bit low budget but as a fan Ive got to see it. Silo second season is next along with From 3rd season.
There is a little village down in cornwall... called Trevone I stayed there many years ago when travelling the uk, it has a big blow hole where the sea comes up thru it, would love someone or utube vvolger to go there would be awesome to see again as I am now back in Adelaide Australia.... it's a beautiful little village, I have a little teddy from there, he would love to watch it on utube...
Would you consider doing a game changer special, you’d probably be the first TH-camr to do a compilation of game changer’s 😂, also as a new year resolution see how long you can go without using the words 😂🎉 another cracking video 🎉🎉
The bloke tried to deliver your book this morning but by the time I got to the door - he had bolted like Lindford Christie! Hopefully he'll be back tomorrow. 🙂
I’ve got the Autoterm diesel heater 4kw with modem and can’t agree more brilliant! I can’t even hear mine from outside! One thing in do notice though I quite a difference in my power consumption since I’ve had it! I’ve got 220ah of lithium and in the winter without solar , sitting and not moving would last minimum 7 days with general consumption, tv lights charging phones drone WiFi etc, since having and using diesel heater , power is now lasting 3-4 days MAX! 4 if I’m lucky, so it is I find quite power hungry, I’m still happy with it though it’s great! How do you find it Darren ? Unlike me though you’re always moving aren’t you ? So may not notice we you’ll always be Charging as you move! They are deffo quite power hungry though , I’d be interested to hear your thoughts , cheers
Thanks for this. My question is: does the hotel know you’ve paid? So they don’t bother you or is it just that they don’t realise you’re there? What happens if you are challenged? And the staff have no idea about horizon parking. Could you please take one for the team and get yourself challenged haha.
you have to watch Sarah Lancashire in Happy Valley its awesome, and appartrently the new Black Doves is good, I not to watch that that, but Happy Valley is awesome.

The only thing I struggle with, is being unable to use the electric when I'm off grid. My batteries (linked to solar) don't seem to give me enough power to power anything but the low wattage lights.
You need to invest in some lithium batterys . Sounds like you have just the old leisure batterys . Also get yourself a investor to power 240v . 1000w is the minimum to use 👍
@@jayyelland8289 Thanks. Appreciate your response. I'm not keen on lithium, have heard horror stories about them. I have two leisure batteries powering up the internal electrics (not very well), they are about 4 years old. And there's the motor's battery too, which gives additional power to the leisure battery - but I don't drive around much, so they're not getting that power. I guess I ought to buy 2 new leisure batteries and see what happens.
Yeah, probably best to put the blinds down. If enough irked customers complain about you or lack of parking, they'll start enforcing the T&Cs As it stands though, I think it's a win-win for landowner and campers 👍
Hi Darren love the channel and a new subscriber to your channel, we are currently looking into the possibility of getting a motorhome in the next few weeks and just getting on the road for a few months. Have you ever been given permission to stop and park in any pub car parks?

Was that hospital in the countryside? All the major capital city hospitals I've been to in Au charge more for overnight than a hotel room.
