    Steins;Gate is a fantastic adaptation from 2010, following the self proclaimed "mad scientist" Okabe Rintaro, and his gang of friends as they accidentally discover, and harness the power of, time travel. Eventually spiraling out of control, the anime makes some seemingly absurd, yet actually quite accurate points about the real dangers of science and technology...

    As a physicist myself I really try to be cautious about my research (having in mind what Oppenheimer unleached on the world). But honestly, if you spend a lot of time doing something, you end up seeing only the good about your research and not the devastating potential it might have.

      Honestly, the development of the atomic bomb was the first thing on my mind when this topic popped into my head. I wish that final line was something I included in this video, it is very easy to get stuck in that mindset after so much time. It's something I have to remind myself of when I find myself thinking I'm right without considering every aspect of a situation

      U are correct we made the made the atom bomb we just forgot that we don,t really need it it is the want that keep getting us to problem instead conc our needs well live and learn i guess

    This is a really interesting video, specifically the discussion of Steins;Gate's hopeful nature. I saw a video recently that claimed that the main theme of Steins;Gate was that our choices don't really matter, because the result is predetermined. "After all, look at Okabe. Even with the invention of time travel, he couldn't make a difference." That rubbed me the wrong way. Okabe spends the entire story doing everything in his power to help his friends, and even with the conventions of time and the super-organization SERN on his tail, Okabe takes the higher road and saves Mayuri. The dangers of time travel AND the goodness of his heart TOGETHER make Steins;Gate the masterpiece it is.

      @ProfessorViral  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yeah, it feels very wrong to look at it as "nothing matters," after we see the repetition of Okabe's pain. I also like the mention of the combo of time travel and Okabe together making the series great; in a very technical sense this is true. Without time travel giving us the moments Okabe knows will be "erased," he would be a much more flat character. So, each depends on the other in a natural and amazing way!

      @ScorbunGame 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      If Stines;Gate truly believed nothing matters it wouldn't put so much weight on the butterfly effect or have Okabe fall into nillisism at his lowest point where he's lost all hope of saving the people he loves.

    It seems like you would really like the movie Primer. It has a similar take on time travel, but in a more grounded way. The rules around it are rigid, and the main focus of the whole story is the cost to the main characters and their relationship.

  • @xx_pit_xx8492

    I really like how certain things are done to keep this theme consistent like how 0 takes another line of science (well all science adventure series do similar things but you know) with psycology/Ai relates it to the original plot via people being investigated for having reading strainer and treated like crazy persons for example again people with power are using science to make sure nothing gets out, and if something goes out jeje is just a disease bro (a same this plot point wasn't explored more).
    The other thing is the lighting and colors in the original anime(while the VN tries to do something similar by making everyone seem like alien like with those eyes and the style in their portraits) in the anime all the time whites take the central point, you have mayuri dressing blue? Tone it down so it doesn't contrast that much, etc etc this helps on resalting the important things like the jelly in bright green when it comes up or the blood. But in general it uses this choice of cold colors not only to put ourselfs in Okabe place being an outsider during big part of The adventure, it also makes everything seem distant and almost hospital relating directly to how science doesn't distinghis with people, is just neutral and by only thinking on science you disregard the other calid colors from the rest of the world. At least in a way I think it is trying to evoke that feel especially in the first few scenes of the first chapter.
    On the idea of Okabe missusing his experiments we can also take in mind how he mentions multiple times it on public places, leaves the window open which is clearly estated that people below can hear it and etc, until faris d mail he doesn't even think about the weight of it all, not only letting other people or himself using it but by leaking it without knowing what to do, again 0 does the contrary he refuses to use it to help others, and keeps it to himself but this time there are other people using times machines, and by no using it to putting a solution, the other few that had it only made it worst and worst

I'll leave it at "it makes me hate your content". Of course, you aren't wrong.
