Absolutely keep cruise control! I did on my 1.8t 20v conversion, it's real easy, only about 4 wires and clutch and brake pedal switches, I mounted the original VW stalk on the steering column, trimmed the cowling a little and voila... cruise control.... it's so lovely (and a little extravagant, for a 1983 1st gen), having cruise for motorways😉
I really enjoy learning about this stuff , theres not many people doing this in youtube in such a detailed way , i liked when u did it for the alh because thats what i got but planning a swap for a pd so its nice to be able to understand what is needed . As always you're doing a great job

But it’s because I don’t like doing things I’m not educated on and these videos are how I learn so if I ever needed to attempt a fix I have a base knowledge and can go from there. I watched a video in Sloppy mechanics, one of the tips was to start at the farthest plug and work back towards the ECU on the harness, and another tip was to use a pegboard and zipties thru the pegboard to hold the harness in the same shape. Hope this helps someone.

Years ago I heard guys had to use a different manifold and things like that but I see them with the stock stuff all the time I feel like. Other than a trans adapter, what did you do to the BHW to get it in your rig?

I have my grandpa's 87 toyota 2wd that I got when he died with only 3100 miles on it many years ago and I've always wanted to put a 4wd drive train under it which I purchased a few years ago in the form of an 83 sr5 straight axel donor. How cool would it be to combine all 3 of these?! I doubt I have the mechanical ability to do it though....
I am looking at doing one of these swaps and have a line on a TDI with a BRM engine code.. would you have any recommendations when it comes to the BRM? should I pass on it until I can find an ALH or BEW?
hey austin got a potential problem for you and me both with this bhw wiring. i pulled a bhw and wiring out over the weekend for my cherokee and set everything up to run it on a pallet to make sure i have evrything. unlike the alh(which i have pulled and done this to as well) it has canbus wired that run to the body control module under the drivers floor. like you i cut a few of the canbut wires but they run from the bcm to the rest of the car (other four doors esch door has a canbus module) im not sure if this canbus interruption can be solved with a tune is this somthing you are aware of or know how to overcome?

WOW these Tacomas getting soooooo expensive.. I purchased a 2001 Tacoma 3 years ago for $1000 with a plow.. wasnt any videos on youtube when I purchased my 1st gen now it's a bunch. I guess they're hella popular now. One of my best purchases truck is a lil beast v6 sr5 I'm keeping it forever comes in handy. I need to get the damn ac leak fixed...

you sould make a screw board and fix plugs to it wright what is what plug .it makes life easy and no tangles, great vidio

Check out a harness from the a6c5 19tdi, is more options on these than vw's.

Ecu might need vss signal for fueling. I'm currently doing a bhw into a Ford ranger me too ;)
i'm thinking it needs a signal for shifting the auto box. vss went bad in my 90 supra and the trans did all kinds of strange shit
As far as I know it doesn’t need a vss signal!! I could be wrong however
@@austinniemela yea, you're not going with the auto box so you won't need it if thats why they're sending it to the cluster
