Hey Brother, thank you so much for explaining relays. I thought I had a decent grasp on them, but I was sadly mistaken. I appreciate you taking the time to go into detail as to how they work. I now have sooo many projects in my head involving relays and what I can do with them. Thank again. I enjoy watching your stuff.
Bro, you just taught me so much in 20 minutes. 😂 THANK YOU! Okay, when you said golf carts at the beginning, I had no idea I would we a golf cart on 35"s. So rad. 🤘🏾
Thank you very much for this video. I have been connecting driving lights for my cars many years and i have been using relays. But now i have so many ideas for for other applications!!!
I've just ordered one of them 5 pin harnesses as I'm installing an immobiliser and it's to tight to solder where thr relay connects to the according wires so the harness for the 5 pin one will give me some more room and also let me took the relay away, great video explains everything well
Excellent tutorial Ryan. I would of liked a quick introduction of the relays with diodes in them. How to use them and why there's a diode in them I would like to wire up some car headlights, as the headlights are twin ( high and low beams ) could I simply use relays with diodes in them? While in low beam, switch over to high beam, but the low beams stay on ................ is that possible? Many thanks TURK
I really enjoyed and learn a few things along the way with your work here. But I would really like your thoughts about the silver wolf build, likes and dislikes especially. Thanks again for your work here.
I enjoy the relay info and was considering installing one on my golf cart so my 48v->12v converter doesn't drain the battery (like you mentioned). But I turn my 48v 95ah lithium battery off when not using the cart. Not sure I would get any benefit from the relay in this case, but will consider for possible future installations.
Good information and well explained. Question though. I am going to use a relay on my motorcycle to control the front mounted passing lights. I am planning to use a relay in the normally closed position to power them all the time the switch is on.. But plan to use the high beam power to activate the relay to cut off the passing lights when the high beams are on. But i can not figure out if I would need to wire it in line with the power to the high beams or if just tapping the power side will work and grounding it to complete the circuit. Any advice would be helpful. Thanks.
I needed to watch, but I still don't quite understand. It's hard for me to comprehend some brain surgeries .. Are the relays different amps I have on my gmc Envoy? Can one relay be used for more than one device on the vehicle? I was checking fuses, and my neighbor was helping. He ended up pulling the relays after seeing testing with the 9volt. So, I have been doing a few things on the truck this summer. So I have some relays that has different diagram that shows on the side of relay and I thought I read online awhile back ago that the relays have to be the correct relay for the spots they go in. And there's different numbers on the top of most of them except the one black relay with nothing written on it. I believe that all clicked with the 9volt so I think they are all good, I just need to get this off my mind that will know which goes where and I I think your video was the better one I've watched..
Dude, I don’t mind the music it’s relaxing. Maybe u can help me w/my problem with my horn system, I installed a 12v 80amp relay w/ the air horn in place of my stock horn and 30amp fuse. The horn works and sounds great until i lay into it for more than 2-4 seconds the fuse blows every time. By the way i have a 2016 F150 supercharged. Do u have any idea what im doing wrong?
Looking forward to more information about TEMGOT batteries. I want to buy a 300ah heating battery from this brand. Is the battery currently working abnormally? How do the heating function and app function work?
I have a FLS821 relay that i didn't see you cover here. There are 4 pins sticking out of it. 2 pins on top and 2 pins on the bottom and they are enclosed on all 4 sides. There are no numbers on the relay anywhere. Can you help tell me what each pin is for. All 4 pins are horizontal, none vertical. Thanks
I have a side-by-side CanAm UTV with a 12V battery. There is a power distribution terminal under the dash that will energize when the ignition is on (there's a ground lug near by as well). Also, there are color coded wires passing through the firewall from this location directly to where the battery is located. I wish to provide power to my stereo, light bar, whip lights, back lights and rock lights via this power distribution terminal using rocker switches. My question is this...will this be too much for this terminal, and should I use an individual 30a or 40a relay for each device? Thanks in advance for your advice!!
good evening i have a question for you i have a 12v air compressor that we installed a pressure switch in was working fine for a long time went t use it today and it wouldnt turn on there is a breaker a on off switch and relay alongside the pressure how do you tell if the relay or the pressure switch is bad switch
Hi! Can I run 24 volts from 30 to 87 and 12 volts on the trigger (85/86) switch? I'm planning to install a 24v airhorn in my car and I just bought a 24V boost up converter.
hello , i want to wire ambient lights on my car. i want when my car is unlocked the ambient light turns on. also i want the ambient light to be on when i driving . If i put a 5 pin relay with one pin trigered from acc so i can have lights on when driving and the other pin from the ceiling light to open the ambient lights when i unlock . Do u think that it will work?
Some relays have internal diodes which is why you should always connect + to terminal 86 and - to 85. Many tell you it doesn’t matter, but sometimes it does and it is good practice to always follow the 86+ convention.
Does anyone know how to remove the wires from the relay harness ? I would like to use my own color code layout that I have created for myself, and I am used to using. I find it very frustrating to see a colored wire change to a different color wire. I could also buy a bunch of colored heat shrink and cover the wire with my own color code. That seems like a lot of money and the wire becomes stiff and does not bend as easily. I would like to find some type of pin tool that will allow me to remove the metal connector that is inside the relay harness. I can then either reinstall the connector and its wire to a different position on the harness. If the harness does not come with the wire colors that I am used to using then I can remove a female spade connector from its plastic cover and attach it to a wire that has the color that I am used to using, and then install the new spade connector and wire into the relay harness.

Thanks for the tutorial Ryan. I'm 67 and never really took the time to study and understand relays, in detail until your video.
So glad you did this. Know a little, but always great to gain knowledge. Thanks
I used these relays on lots of things at the golf course 😊😊😊

Thank you for sharing your knowledge 👌🙏🙌🫵🫶❤ I love the way you explain each section .
Blessing
Thank you for a very beautiful and clear explanation...you are wonderful teacher ❤️ 💖 💕
GOD BLESS YOU
Then perhaps you can tell me where the red and black wires on the relay go to? This so called awesome video doesn’t tell you.
Great video, thanks brother, im gonna have to watch it 10 times. Lol

Much better explanation than most, Kewl.

does the negative wire have to be the same thickness going to the relay as the positive that is feeding the product needing power

Confusing explanation! Ok so where do the red and black wires on the relay go to?

Putting a radio in my 12v gas golf do I want a relay or solenoid wired to the ignition on wire
Hi
Can I power the relay Pin 30 and patch 85 from the same 12v supply without damaging any switch gear?
Was after the schematic, nice to see it early in the presentation
What about the change over 12v relays
Hi! Can I run 24 volts from 30 to 87 and 12 volts on the trigger (85/86) switch? I'm planning to install a 24v airhorn in my car and I just bought a 24V boost up converter.
Yup, 30&87 is just a switch which makes and breaks continuity where 85/86 is the coil for the relay.
@@Fentertainment Thanks a lot. Have a good day.

Lol "I love relays"... Words i have uttered under my breath, because I don't want people to think I'm weird 😅
Clear as mud
You might want to " clamp " the DC relay coil with a diode hooked inverse parralel on the coil. A 1n4004 should be good in my opinion

RRL. Relay Relay logic.
Proagation delay of about 20 ms.
Excellent Videos BUT - Please omit music. If I wanted entertainment I would bring my own. DISTRACTING. thank you
