Ok so I'm gonna pull some of these links together and let you guys vote! 1. For Lara Fabian - Yentl Medley (Live at Centre Molson, Type 2 for Lara Fabian - Je suis malade Type 3 to vote If you want Lara Fabian - Adagio.
She writes most of her songs, she describes herself as a songwriter with a voice. Check out the lyric translation on this song, it's about a suicide - ":Because You're Leaving" is the title translated. Very heavy.
Welcome to the Lara fandom! Great of you for supporting Brandon, I'm one of the person who launched his project to see Lara! Hope you enjoy even more Lara's music in the future!
Lara Fabian is the ULTIMATE Artist ------ more than just singing or performing a song..............she LIVES the song and through her an audience LIVES the song with her !
Yup! I subscribed after this reaction. This was great!! Lara is always better live!! Keep it up! I can’t wait to see which song you pick next from her!
Hey Kasey, man. Thanks so much for the shout out. I really appreciate the support and how much encouragement you've been throwing my way. Stay fluid, brother!
Hi there mate! You picked one of my favourites of her. Just gorgeous piece of music. Lara's voice is always astounding and her live vocals flawless and pitch perfect. Thanks for reacting this. Unfortunately vocals in this was not live. It's the studio version dubbed to that video. Probably due to her illness. You just can't help it, sometimes you get sick at the wrong moment...And i understand that decision perfectly to change vocals with studio track. This concert stays for years for people to listen... And it does not take anything away from the performance, the motion and feeling is still there. Like always with Lara performing live. She is the true master of live vocals with expressing all that motion. I'd say the best in our time. And that voting, i'd say number 2 "Je suis malade" because of the way Lara can feel and live in a song that is not even her own song. Anyway, all those three are just amazing in their own way, so you can't go wrong... 😁
Most of her songs, she wrote lyrics for it. In 4 languages ! And often she also has some participation on the melody. Then she confessed she is not a great harmonist and relies on others to compose the final music. If you look some of her songs buildup or rehearsal videos, you will see how much she carefully select the words or select the vocal coloring of it. She is a master in storytelling and emotions conveying
So I just finished another reaction video and did a little research and read the lyrics you were absolutely amazing and deep! Can’t tell you what song yet but it was an unbelievable vocal performance and my favorite by four I love the total of like five songs I’ve heard by her. ( if and when I decide I’m gonna do several reactions on one artist I try to avoid learning too much about them until and three reactions are so deep) then as a writer I go all in on Lyrics and meaning!
Hallo there! Lara Fabian is on of the greatest female singers ever. You should hear her sing "Adagio". Floor Jansen has done that to. I am a big fan of Nightwish so i know Floors amazing vocals. Lara and Floor..masterclass singers. Thanks for reacting to this wonderful performer ❤️
More information on Lara Fabian: Lara is recognized as one of the best vocalist ever seen on earth and all professionals list her in the top vocalist tier with Barbra, Whitney, Mariah, Celine, Lisa Fischer, .... In my personal opinion, she is even the best. There are a few vocal characteristics that are her signature: her famous resonance for instance that allows her to sing acapella without mic in venues with 8,000 attendees. Her nickname in the singing world is "the ring" due to this. I would also list her amazing phrasing, breath management and her pleasant tone even when belting in her upper register. So she is one of the best vocalist ever, but on top of that, she adds a few things that make her an absolute package with no equivalence: • she speaks 4 languages fluently (french, italian, english, spanish) and has sung in 12 languages in total • she is an amazing songwriter and wrote lyrics for most her songs, in the 4 languages she speaks. She often co-composes the music with the composer. • she acts and performs on stage as nobody else, she colors and reveals the meaning of every single word in the songs, and her ability to emote, to draw you in is second to none • she is the sweetest soul on earth, very humble, down to earth and benevolent. She likes to meet others, and her fans are always pleasantly surprised when this happens. A quick background on her and her career: She is belgian, but also has italian roots (her mother is from sicilia). She was raised in both countries so she speaks both french and italian as native languages. She has been classically trained on vocal, piano and songs composition for 10 years ( from 8 to 18) in the Brussels Royal Conservatory. She is still having vocal lessons and training several times a week today. She started her career in Canada in the early 90s, more precisely in Quebec, the french-speaking part of Canada. She now lives in Montreal and has also Canadian citizenship She became very famous there and then conquered France in 1997 (she topped charts there and some of her songs such as "Je t'aime" or "Tout" became classics of the french music). In 2000, she was about to penetrate the US Market, with a lot of media initial interest. Her first english song (I will love again), a pop dance song, reached number one on the US Billboard Hot Dance Club Play chart and number 32 on the Billboard Hot 100. Her Album ("Lara Fabian") was about to become a massive hit, and the concert "From Lara With Love" was recorded to be broadcasted everywhere in the US. This concert is legendary and the song you just reviewed is from this concert. But a dispute with Sony on artistry directions, and the will from Celine Dion's staff to block her progress in the US, completely broke this plan. She thus refocused back on Europe and made huge success there, extending her reach to Eastern Europe and Central Asia where she became an absolute superstar thru her collaboration with Igor Krutoy during several years. She is also a star in Brazil as her song "Love By Grace" used as the soundtrack for a very famous soap opera topped the charts for months. Many of her songs became classics and were covered by the other singing legends: Barbra Streisand, Shirley Bassey, Josh Groban, … With her success in Europe, Brazil and part of Asia, she is the inspiration of the new generation of vocalists: most of them are coming from there. Thru their covers of Lara Fabian songs, USA and many other countries are now rediscovering her. She is Dimash's idol: I’ve read somewhere that, when he was a child, he was listening her songs every night to get asleep. He covered many of her songs (that she performed originally ; she also wrote some of these). Out of my mind I can list: ○ Adagio, ○ Mademoiselle Hyde, ○ Know, ○ Love of tired swans She also wrote the lyrics of his song « Your Love ». And she covered « Love is like a dream » before him (song from Igor Krutoy originally performed by Alla Pugacheva). They also performed Ti Amo Cosi together with Aida Garafulina: this is a song that she performed originally with Dmitriy Hvorostovsky and Alina Yaroyava then again later with Dmitriy and Sumi Jo, before this new trio with Dimash and Aida. Dimash is now also working with Igor Krutoy who came back from retirement and composed severals songs for him. Many other top vocalists from the current generation covered her songs: ○ Floor Jansen (Adagio), ○ Polina Gagarina (Adagio, Je t’aime), ○ Diana Ankudinova (Tomorrow is a lie), ○ Morissette Amon (Broken Vow), ○ Gabriel Henrique (Love by Grace), ○ Cakra Khan (Broken Vow), ○ Katrina Velarde (Broken Vow), ○ Laura Bretan ( Adagio, Caruso), ○ Jackie Evancho (Je t’aime, Caruso and Broken Vow, BV rewritten as « Imaginer » by Lara for Jackie), ○ Giulia Falcone (Adagio, Caruso, Je suis malade), ○ Almira (from 4th Impact band) (Broken Vow), ○ Forestella (Je suis Malade), ○ .... Sorry if I was long, but I hope this gives some context on Lara.
I’ve actually reacted to Adagio covers by Floor and Dimash. I guess the top 10 conversation is a little different because I generally don’t care for Mariah Carey or Whitney, not that they don’t have the skill level I just don’t personally connect emotionally and I would pick someone like Floor Jansen or even Alisha Keys in my top. But I still have a tremendous amount to learn about singing in general. I just got finished with another Lara Reaction and the layers in her vocals on this next one are so dense and Rich with colorful tones in semitones!

Lara's native languages are Italian and French. She speaks both since she was 3 years old. Then she learned English and Spanish when she was 10 years old. Currently she is able to speak and compose songs in Italian, French, English, Spanish fluently. But she is also able to have a little conversation in Russian, Portuguese (she evn co-wrote a song in Portuguese with perfect accent, as a Brazilian I can say, the song it's called "Meu Grande Amor", which means My greatest love), and Flemish (Flemish is the native language of her father, she was born in the Flemish part of Belgium country, her daddy if from there. Thanks for taking the time to write all that deeply appreciated I love learning about artists through their fan base! I just finished another song of hers that really blew me out the water!
When she first arrived in Montreal she couldn't get anyone to manage her or produce her. So she created her own production company and had to manage herself. She and her music partner, Rick Allison, wrote most of the songs she sang in the first few years. She's mentioned in interviews that she had to approach musicians and say, "I can't pay you right now, but please take a chance on me". They did and some of those musician were still with her during this concert. I'm pretty sure that 30 years on a couple of those musicians are still with her which just goes to show that she treats her band well, most likely financially, but more importantly with respect and as members of a team. She's said that she's not a huge fan of hierarchy in music but prefers collaboration. Her first album was mildly successful in Quebec. Her second album started getting some notice in France and Europe. Her third album exploded. She was ahead of some huge names in the charts and it was at this time that the American music people took notice. If I remember correctly, Lara said in an interview that they were shocked they didn't know who this person was who had just sold 6 millions units of a song in 2 months! She signed up with Sony who then produced her first English Album in 1999/2000. Drama followed which is why most Americans haven't heard of her except for maybe a "did she have, like, a dance hit in 2000ish?" if anything. The concert you're watching is from her fifth album, Nue (2001). Does that help?
