    Loving the sound and music to this machine. Thanks to that Yamaha synth chip, it sounds like a SEGA Genesis, and I'm getting big AfterBurner and Zero Wing vibes from the tracks. Good stuff!

      @@robertsaw841 My Terminator 2 has a YM2151. I love the sound of it. I think T2 is considered a pre-DCS game (Addams Family, Bram Stoker's Dracula, Creature from the Black Lagoon, Doctor Who, Fishtales, Hurricane, Terminator 2, High Speed II The Getaway, Twilight Zone, White Water)

    I love that you went through a 16 minute troubleshooting session to figure out those solenoids instead of just checking every single fuse as step #1. Understanding something is far more valuable in troubleshooting than just checking fuses. This game has some great sound for it's time. It looked to me like this game was leaning right a little and that may explain why you had so many problems with the right outlane.

    I bet you were happy for a nice, easy fix. Not much more than a few filter caps, a few miscellaneous parts... and a fuse. Amazing just how much a single blown fuse can disable. I know for a fact I never saw this in the arcade. That's probably a good thing, because if it ever _was_ in our arcade, I can easily imagine how much money I would blow on this game. (P.S., that right outlane is brutal!)

    OMG! Long time watcher, and first comment - paused at 25:35 because I've dealt with it. I DID deal with it. I'm okay with "errant screw", and also removing a fuse with your test probe. (pfft~!) But You KNOW what the yellow/purple is one and purple/yellow is the other and have forgotten. No biggie, but a few videos back...I think The Simpson's pinball game, I was shocked because you were talking about pots and something came up about a rheostat and you said something like "I don't know why that'd be with these" or whatever and I said to the video "a pot can be a rheostat--uh, I think the wiper either floats or connects to ground. Maybe it just goes to either leg, I've forgotten, but a potentiometer can be wired up as a rheostat" and I'M SURE you know this and either forgot or just didn't remember in the moment because it's a basic of all the other stuff I enjoy hearing you talk about!
    ((And I couldn't bear not knowing...you wire the circuit up to one of the POT legs and the other to the wiper and the other LEG floats! Boom!))
    Back to electronic awesomeness! Thanks so much for posting these!

    Definitely a fun game. Its weakness was almost always the space station though. It would malfunction and lock in weird orientations or just do a 360 and give up. Would be awesome if they developed a better position sensor setup that could be retrofitted to the game.
    Otherwise, redocking in multiball was typically all you needed to do to reach the free game score.

    The 0.25A fuse that you were saying has a 10 ohm resistance has nothing to do with it being a low amperage fuse. It is because it's a slow blow fuse, as you can see from the label. You use that type of fuse for something that will periodically draw higher current than it's rating, but should not be drawing high current continuously. For instance, motors have a high inrush current when starting, but drop down once moving. Using a standard fuse, you would likely end up replacing it frequently just because of the starting current, but a slow blow will allow it to start up properly, but still blow before causing damage to the motor in case it stalls.

    • @LyonsArcade
      @LyonsArcade  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      ahahhhh, you're right, i'm wrong, I wonder why it is though that when I check a slow blow 5amp fuse, it has low resistance, but when I check a slow blow .25 amp fuse it has high resistance? Surely you've got that one figured out, I mean I just did it in the video. The 5amp fuses that are all slow blow have .2 resistance, the .25amp fuse that is slow blow has 10ohms resistance.
      It has nothing to do with the amperage though, right? Explain it to us better how wrong I am

    • @RudyHost
      @RudyHost 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@LyonsArcade No need to be a dick about it, I didn't insult you. You are clearly a talented game tech, and I enjoy your content. You said right in your video that you have no idea why the low amp fuse measures high resistance, so I was giving an explanation. I have standard 0.25A fuses right in front of me that measure at 0 ohm. The fuses for the solenoids are very likely your standard fast blow fuse.

    Hello Joe, this pinball machine is awesome, I really enjoy playing it. A pinball sales company in Germany has it in the hall. With this C19 it is impossible to get there, whether it will survive the economic disaster is also questionable. I also play it under F3 Pinball on Steam but as an original machine it will never be able to replace no matter what kind of emulation. I got to know these pinball machines in an amusement arcade and we always met there to play as young people to young adults until they then exchanged all the arcade and pinball machines for gaming machines. Oh yes, here in Germany you can only play on these devices from the age of 18. Be it outside or in public buildings. But then you have to be 16 years old .. It's good that I've already exceeded this age many times.

      Germany has the craziest fruit machines (slots for Americans and everyone else) I ever saw, the wall mounted three wheel ones in kebab shops...Weird, I was there in 1989 and we came across those never could work out what was going on, but one of the guys I was with walked into a kebab shop, put two deutschemarks in it and dropped the jackpot and all the people in the kebab shop were pissed off as they had probably been playing it all day to get the money out of it and he just goes and puts 2 coins in it and emptied it...A tense atmosphere ensued whilst we were waiting for the food we'd ordered...

I mean you watched the entirrrrre video and just couldn't get it out of your head, it was the only thing you wanted to comment about! An unlevel playfield really ruins the experience for some. Unfortunately I've found though that if the table was level, you'd be very concerned about a burnt out lightbulb somewhere else that you didn't notice because the table was crooked.

    • @LyonsArcade
      @LyonsArcade  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      There's no fuse for just those, it's a simple circuit though, the wire comes from pin 8 on connector 1J7 on the main mpu board... It'll be that same yellow and purple, if I had to guess I'd say that wire isn't making a good connection there at that connector. Take a look at it and pull it off and put it back on. It could be the wire breaks somewhere, or it could be the transistor that runs that lamp line is bad on the board.

    1) look at the other fuses, then the existing fuse.
    2) You were evil. Every time you went close to the _last_ fuse, you digressed to something else. I counted at least four times that you did that.
    One of my customers sells obsolete electronics components. I'm passing him your supplier's name, because he'd love to sell off a lot of his stock. That includes huge strips of chips, chip sockets, etc.

      you're so much smarter than I are Troy, if only you were here to fix it that night, instead the customer had to deal with dumb old evil me

      @@LyonsArcade - it's a good thing he had you. I could fix the board, but I can tell you from personal experience that I get lost with the mechanicals.
      (Edit - I meant to find the value for the fuse by checking the others, to make sure the one wasn't replaced with a "This fits, it must be right." )
