Tonight things look quite grim. He wants to stop all treatments and go hospice. We all in our family are broken hearted.

Chromosome 3 ...MLH1 repairs cell damage. Mops up irregularity before they turn bad. Lack of it is also linked to Lynch Syndrome. So glad this brave man is ok.

My father did too. He had a tumor that had not spread - it was only in the bile duct. He was a candidate for it's removal because the tumor was well-defined and because it was not spread all over his body.
He was in good health, his liver was good, he had good blood lab results before the surgery, he was eating, going to the bathroom normally and ambulating fine. He even began eating and ambulating after his surgery. That is until he got an infection from the hospital which overwhelmed his system.
He contracted Clostridium difficile in the hospital and when he was supposed to go home a week after the surgery because and expected to do a "full recovery" (per doctor), when he contracted the infection it was downhill from there and less than a month after his surgery, he died.
It is so frustrating when things like this happen. I feel something more can be done. I am so sorry for your loss.
