- Regular person review of a Framework 16 laptop after 6 months. My thoughts on how it has been, the battery life, performance, repairability, and future of the product. Also disassembly to check for dust build up over the 6 months.
Finally another framework 16 video. Before yours I had run out of obsessively watching all of them. Hope I get mine soon
I'm sure you'll enjoy it. Very unique hardware.
Which region are you on "BSingh-on4qr"
Btw you don't even have to open up the midplate to clean the fans, you can just disconnect the expansion bay and clean them that way. Really neat laptop though, I've personally enjoyed mine a lot, convinced my brother to get a framework 13 as he prefers smaller laptops.
People really trash on this thing for 'price to performance' but I don't think its as bad as people think it is.
@@heroninja1125 it’s not. They are a fraction the size of any other PC company. Their expenses are going to be higher as a result of smaller manufacturing capability. The fact that they sell every individual replacement component as well, stands out as a unique offering in the market. And it’s one I want to support.
Thank you for the review mr. Regular person
Also switching from Mac. Arm has been too troublesome for engineering work
I am really thinking about spending 1700€ for the New Intel Ultra framework, with 13“ 2.8K Screen
I love Macbooks, everything about the use but the price is tough and you can‘t repair anything without apple certified parts and software to „program“ the Serial from ne parts
@@azogderschander6391 I’d go AMD myself for the better efficiency and better iGPU. You can legit do 1080p gaming on ultra books if you go AMD.
mine batch 6, great laptop, really enjoy mine. Only complain is speakers that force me to connect Bluetooth speaker when watching a movie with girlfriend.
@@soltysss Speakers are serviceable. But pretty poor speakers if, like me, you’re use to Apple laptop speakers which are outstanding.
Hi, how is the fan noise with your 3d software...I'm looking at this computer for my work. any info would be greatly appreciated!! thanks!!
@@emurray007 I’ve been using iclone primarily and don’t find it to be an issue. Comparable to any other in its class. Gaming is loud but general work isn’t too bad. Long renders might spin it up to make more noise of course.
I've got a few complaints about mine (data expansion bay overheated and fried itself, some of the laptop body is slightly warped, and there's no second full sized m.2 slot) but overall I'm pretty happy and really want this to continue being a thing.
@@dragoslove A full 2280 size second slot would open up higher capacities. I think the 2230 drives only go to 2tb. But how much storage do you want/need to keep on board a single machine. I’d rather spread it out to multiple locations for safety. But with games install sizes rapidly rising I can see your point. I think i just read about a game being close to 300gb install. Not sure what you mean by data expansion bay?
@@Frame16Gaming They sell a usb-c 500gb option to replace one of the ports on the side. The main reason I would want the larger drive is to bring over drives that I already own. I would love to put in a 4 or 8tb drive to store screen recordings and be able to have more than 20 files before I have to clean stuff up.
@@dragoslove oh yeah I’ve seen those. Not sure if those are eMMC or actual SSD based. There are rumors about an expansion module that will hold 2 m.2 drives. Would be in replacement of the gpu expansion bay. I’ve been a bit disappointed to not see any other expansion modules for that interface yet. 6-8 months after initial release.
@@Frame16GamingThey're SSD. EMMC is utter trash, don't get why they would use that?
I kind of hate how they've gone pretty much silent about anything new on the 16. Their socials don't answer anything. And there haven't been any Nvidia GPUs announced.
@@FR4M3Sharma Understandable. But think a lot of it (in terms of hardware updates) is vender related. AMD or Intel needs to release new chips. As a small company framework is probably on the bottom of the allocation list. I’d rather have upgrades on a 2 year cycle. Year to year CPU/GPU improvements are never worth it. Usually single digit percentage performance improvements.
No Nvidia GPU is probably related to power issues. That connection at the back is only for a certain wattage. As is the charger for the laptop. Have to keep entire system power in a certain range. And Nvidia doesn’t have the best reputation as a partner.
@@Frame16Gaming Nirav said he wouldn't have started the whole idea of the 16 if both AMD and Nvidia weren't on terms for providing the GPUs for it.
I would rather have a 14" and 15" option.
I never understood 14" machines. Like the Razer 14. Kind of a Jack of All Trades but a master of none. Too small for bigger GPUs and too big to truly be a light and convenient Ultrabook.
That's just my mentality.
I like purpose built things that are very good at a specific task. But that very much a first world problem if you can afford multiple expensive toys.
@@Frame16Gaming I just do not like anything smaller than 14". To me that is small.
@@dewilton7712 Makes sense. I have a small 12" Macbook that i have to zoom in a lot with. But it's 2lbs so It's great to have handy in the garage or kitchen if i need to quickly look something up.
To me 14.5 inch is the sweet spot.
