    Literally perfect explanation. The PS5 works when you plug it directly into the pass through then elgato, but Xbox doesn’t? Doing it the other way round worked! Thanks very much mate, saved me so much time

    What are your Xbox settings when you are using the HDMI/Optical Extractor?

  • @LouSassol69er
    @LouSassol69er 3 ปีที่แล้ว +6

    They've created such a ballache for people not including the optical. I can't get Dolby 5.1 when plugging directly from receiver to the TV.
    So I have to plug device to Receiver for Dolby 5.1. But Xbox Series X having no Optical, I only have option of plugging into the TV thus getting no Dolby 5.1.
    Unless a device like this allows me to separate the HDMI signal into audio via Optical back to my receiver and a 2nd HDMI back to the TV (guessing how it works).

    I was about to attempt this using a HDMI audio extractor but as you said the lack of HDR is just too big of a loss on Xbox Series X. Have done a lot of research and at this time there are now extractors that support HDMI 2.1 4k 120hz HDR. I might try using the optical out on my TV but I hear many complaining that it introduces a delay. I just wanted premium audio with this new next gen console - sigh

I've had two different Orei units that cause the screen to randomly go blank and flicker, tried different certified HDMI 2.1 cables but no bueno, they supported 4k 60hz but have display issues! @davidsaucedo5287 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      you guys have to hook up the usb to the xbox i think thats the problem. audiophiles want a great soundstage and there are problems connecting thro usb right. I plugged my dac to the pc then just used an optical cord direct to tv but the problem is you negate all the eq settings you can make doing that. in order to keep those settings you have to plug the dac via usb to series x. Although what i did was test out plugged into pc and plugged into series x via usb AND i plugged in the op cable to the back of the TV I HAVE NO IDEA IF THIS ACTUALLY DOES ANYTHING but i saw a noticeable change in volume but thats what i noticed. i unplugged the optical cable left the usb plugged into series x and its like the volume got a little quieter and flatter plugged the optical cable back in but still left usb plugged into series x at the same time and i feel like i got this boost in volume i have no idea if there is some kind of interference going on but im keeping them both plugged in.

      Did you connect it to home 5.1 theatre system? Just wondering if I can split the audio to Optical for my receiver and HDMI back to the TV.
      I can't plug an optical from receiver to TV, for some reason it doesn't allow me to get Dolby 5.1 that way. So I have to connect optical, device to receiver. Hence why I'm looking up HMDI extractors.

    • @meat_loves_wasabi

      If you are using an AV receiver than u shouldn’t need this... just connect the XSX to AV Receiver than AV Receiver to TV... need to go to the XSX audio setting to choose the correct Audio format (Dolby or DTS or Atmos depending on ur AVR capability)
