I agree. After Douglas Marland died the Hughes and the Stewarts became background characters. Especially the character of Ellen. She was let go and yet had so much history.

This is from some of the good old days of ATWT, when Martha Byrne was Lily (instead of some of the awful recasts later). Loved some of the storylines with her and also Tom & Margo, Duncan & Jessica, etc.
Some said the same about the music of ATWT's NBC competition Another World (the 1981 Score Productions music by Jonathan L. Segal), and even the graphics/title sequence thereto (the wreath of interlocking rings stretching forward and turning tunnel-like, the big light and faces, and the AW title swinging in like the hinges on a door and coming together; part of Procter and Gamble's Great Soap Opera Facelift of '81). The reason why I speak of the graphics is that for a good many, the kaleidoscope wreath (the wreath slowly coming together as one of many colors, with the AW title apparently having the Os connected as if they were wedding rings) was what defined that NBC daily serial in their minds (and for some, it still does); when the '81 graphics started on 9/7/81, some called it a sacrilege, IINM (I myself at first thought it quite scary, because I was not used to the substance of it, being a wee lad when I saw it at first; it wasn't until later in my life when I revisited it from the defunct World of Soap Themes that I appreciated it as being the best ever title sequence/theme music of that NBC serial [albeit I've never followed the daily serials all that much in my near to twoscore years on this Earth]). My late Mom and I watched ATWT together, every day. I miss those days. This theme brings back great memories. So sad to see the soap opera genre fading into the abyss. I remember when there were 12 soaps on the air at once. Now, we're down to a mere 4. Soaps used to be must see TV. Not so much anymore. I miss the past. Life was much simpler, and happier. I just probably didn't realize it.
Grew up on GG my mom and my aunts her sisters were all Hooked on GH !! But I got hooked too !! This music takes me back to when Ivwas in middle school school ( Junior High) Watching it on Summer Break from School with Mom .
Too bad Nancy didn't last a few more months to be there at the end and say the final line. Good that Bob did it. Very poetic ending with the globe. Still miss this show.

I can’t remember when , might’ve been in the early or mid 90’s , my cousin was part of the list of “ ending credits “ she was doing it for her “ degree “ in college. ( TV media or journalism... I think ) I didn’t realize that it’s been only 11 years or so since this was over . I was unaware it was still going. Hard to believe I could’ve still been watching it, ( but I was a busy person. ) I do miss it though. My mom, my Nan and I would watch these before my Nan passed on in 89 . ( As My World Keeps Turning - lol )

I often wonder if the show cut out portions of the theme no matter if its the original or the orchestral remix of 1984-1988 or the techno synthesizer arrangement of 1988-1993. Because when you listen to cover versions of the theme it's seems longer at the beginning and mid way through the theme.

I know, he did some of the music for General Hospital too! He also combined with Barranco for the latter Edge of Night themes.

This theme tune just didn't match what ATWT was about. It was too noir, more fitting for something like Dark Shadows or The Edge of Night.
