Dudley in the books asking “why isn’t he coming with us?” and then saying goodbye to Harry is probably the biggest missed scene in the entire series. I know the Dursleys plot in general were cut down a lot from the books but this was scene really should have made it in the movie.
Dudley’s redemption arc should have been included in the movie and the previous movie should have included Dumbledoor visiting number four to pick up Harry. As we would have seen Molly’s reluctance with Ron and Ginny going back to school.
It would have been cool if dudley had a child with magic. Just imagine him phoning or writing a letter to harry to ask for help with getting his kid ready for hogwarts.

For how the book (pre-Epilogue) ends in Dumbledor's office vs the movie, I always wanted the book FRAMEWORK with one twist. Let the "why didnt it work for him" talk happen in the office. Fix the Holly wand. THEN, have Harry use the Elder Wand with a reparo spell on the castle (some dark magic may not have been able to be fixed, but better than Filch walking around with a broom 😂) It could end with Harry snapping the wand (I liked that decision in the movie) and saying he was going to leave it with its last true master. 🤷♂️
when it came to the dursleys i think the effect of harry unwittingly having been made a horcrux by voldermort caused what normally would have been more repressed views and emotions come out full force. hence why his aunt still held onto the blanket harry was wrapped in as a baby. it would seem every know and again the horcrux effect would lose its grip on her and she would remember that this was her sisters son and the love she still had for her kept her going thru it even if she may have wondered why she treated him so poorly. its kind of a thing that i see everyone give them such a hard time when we know that being in the constant presence of a horcrux can really twist a persons mind as it did to ron.
Read the first chapter in the first book again, it shows the Dursleys being just as awful as before Harry comes to leave with them, as they are after he comes to live with them, it wasn't the Horcrux, the Dursleys were just hateful people.
@@UnderRuler777 They are only less hateful towards Harry in COS because they didn’t know he couldn't use magic outside of school, once they find that out they go back to mistreating him the same as in the first book, each book where the Dursleys seem to be less abusive towards Harry, there is a reason given, rather its because Harry is mostly avoiding them, or they are scared of Sirius (the case in GOF) or because the Order of the Pheonix threaten them (end of OOTP) there is a reason the Dursleys don't treat Harry as badly and it usually is because of fear.

Personally, I feel that after having worked as an Auror, much like how Ron moved on to work with his brother, Harry should have moved on to work as the Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher. It makes a lot more sense than becoming the head of a ministry office since Harry has shown time and time again his distrust and somewhat disdain of the wizarding government. As with Hermione becoming minister: while she is very intelligent and skilled, I find it hard to believe that she would go on to become the leader of the entire government. Much like Harry, she was also distrustful of the ministry and was shown to not be a very good leader. She even said so much when they were planning how Dumbledore's Army would work. I think it would've been much more believable if she went on to use her passion for S.P.E.W. and become the head of the magical creatures department so that she could actually make changes to the system in order to truly promote elvish welfare as she did in her youth. Also, a detail that I think J.K. Rowling missed out on is that one of Dudley's kids should have been magic. It would have really changed the dynamics of the characters' relationships, specifically giving Dudley more of an understanding and appreciation for Harry, and it would have changed Vernon and Petunia's views towards magic.
Absolutely love the first idea. As a twist it would be cool for Harry to become the head of Slytherin as a last tribute to Snape and regarding his conflicting past with the house. (Also he almost became a Slytherin and could also have the motivation to keep the house in check.) Would be fun to see some characters from the books competing as friends for the housecup. For example Ginny as the head of Gryffindor, and Cho as Ravenclaw and someone new as Hufflepuff. All connected to some new conspiracy going on in Hogwarts with the Hufflepuff being written similar to Snape. In a way you`re never sure what he`s up to. For the housecup he`s the biggest threat, but for the conspracy you never really know whether he`s involved. Other characters could also be involved as teachers or part of the main story in one way or another.
Hermione DID focus on S.P.E.W. To quote her wiki page; "She later found employment with the Ministry of Magic, furthering the cause for the better treatment of house-elves. Afterward, she was promoted to the Department of Magical Law Enforcement, where she dedicated herself to eradicating old laws that were biased in favour of pure-bloods.". Their trust in the ministry changed when Kingsley took over. As for leadership, she was 15 or 16 when Dumbledore's Army was thing, her leadership skills have had time to mature in the next 20ish years before she becomes minister. For Harry, from the wiki; "Harry was promoted to Head of the British Auror Office at the age of 26, and would occasionally deliver Defence Against the Dark Arts lectures at Hogwarts. He was later promoted to Head of the Department of Magical Law Enforcement by the summer of 2020." Harry still could become the full time DADA professor towards the end of his career.
I think you picked the absolute best way to end the video, Petunia is actually one of my favorite characters in the books because if you listen very close you can see that she is always worried about harry even though she is jealous that she cant be a witch and kind of hates him for him being one like his mom.
Tbh I think if she married someone other than Vernon she wouldn’t have been nearly as bitter towards Harry. He enabled her and even treated him worse while probably abusing her too

While writing my own fanfic of the canon, I stumbled over a bit of an issue that is never addressed in the canon. For most of the first year students going through sorting, the books state that there's roughly 50 students. 50 students times 7 years equals a rough enrollment of 350 students at Hogwarts. However, at one point it is mentioned that Slytherin has 200 students in their house alone and it is implied that Hufflepuff is the largest house by far. Even using the Slytherin numbers, 200 times four houses means that the total number of students at Hogwarts is around 800 or more. So why the discrepancy? The first Death Eater war, of course. So many died in that fight that it dropped pregnancy rates by half and we're witnessing it in Harry's first year in school. But it gets worse! Extrapolating from the 100 new students each year, I guesstimated that before the war, there was about 10-12,000 wizards in Britain. After the war, it probably dropped to about 8-10K in order to hit the birth rate that bad. So after the Second Death Eater War, the new population for the community is most likely around 6,000. In other words, if pure-blood sentiment is still prevalent, the wizarding community is going to go extinct. So one of my lines in the year after fanfic is my MC telling a Slytherin student who is bad-mouthing a muggle-born, "We have lost so many lives that our way of life is on the verge of collapse! So yes, I will welcome each and every muggle-born that is sorted into our House, otherwise we are doomed!"
In relation to Harry’s infant blanket. I think 🤔 it was possibly an Evans family heirloom that Petunia recognised and remembered that her older sister Lily had. Just tossing it away would not have been a thought for her in that sense. When Dudley found it after Petunia’s death, it would’ve meant nothing to him.
Harry not going back to Hogwarts for his final year made no sense to me… Going to Hogwarts meant the world to him… It’s where he discovered himself and he could’ve had a year where he could reset himself…. try to get back to basics before heading to the ministry…

I’ve always loved hearing about what happened after Book 7. Most things I’ve liked but there are many which I don’t like all too much. Many of these come from revelations given in the Cursed Child. I find it uncharacteristic for Harry to not go finish Hogwarts. For defeating Voldemort, that gives Harry an obvious and automatic entry into the Auror office. But as Harry has deep sentimental value for Hogwarts, as it’s the closest thing to a home he’s ever had, I believe he would’ve finished. Ron of course would’ve followed suit. Besides he would’ve got to spend more time with Ginny as they’d be in the same year. I also find it uncharacteristic for Hermione to have become Minister of Magic, much less any law related branch of government, unless it was focused on helping others for rights of a sort. *cough* SPEW. The fact that Umbridge was put on trial and sentenced to Azkaban is super cool. This is something Universal is adding to their new Epic Universe theme park. They’re constructing a Ministry of Magic set during her trial. That’d be super cool.

I can tell you’ve reread those a lot. Those are like me and my Light Novels, manga, and Cultivation Novels. I’ve reread Dragon King’s Son-in-Law at least 6 times. Currently reading Overly Cautious Hero. I used to have all 7 Harry Potter books, reread to the point the binding was in a similar state as the ones at 0:26, until I had a break-in during a move. While I was unpacking my stuff at the new place, someone stole all my movies and books I hadn’t moved yet. And some of those were sentimental regarding value, as they were gifts from my late mother. People never think about these things, only about themselves 🤬
In regards to Petunia, in my opinion, two very important scenes were left out of the movies. The first was in OoTP, when VD wanted(for the umpteenth time)to kick Harry out of the house. Dumbledore sent her a howler telling her to "'remember my last!" The second was when Harry told her that she had no idea what those people were capable of. She replied that she lost her sister...she knows exactly what those people are capable of.
I wish petunia said what she was about to say before leaving Harry alone at four private drive in the final book. I imagine it would have shown a different side to her otherwise cold character.
I believe it is Hannah Abbet that has the worst close up in Hogwarts history in movie number four while she laughs in Harry’s face, wearing a “Potter Stinks!” badge. I hate to think Nevil’s bloodline ends with him.

Oh yes, it was a passionate relationship, but short-lived. You see, Dudley's ultimate scheme to torment Harry wasn't through fists or insults. Remember that hint of friendliness at the end of the last movie? That was just the beginning. Dudley's masterplan was to slowly worm his way into Harry's life, seducing him and starting a romantic relationship. Thanks to that, he could drive Ginny away, taking the kids with her. And just when Harry started to accept that his newly found love was the only thing he had left - bam! Dudley dumped him, leaving Harry completely alone, emotionally shackled, and thoroughly miserable, unable to love or trust anyone ever again.
I'm surprised Harry and Ron were allowed to become auroras despite not finishing school. I guess this is one career that doesn't require you to complete your NEWTS.
More than that... Minster of Magic Kingsley Shacklebolt offered Auror training to any Hogwarts students who survived the Wizarding War. Many Aurors died and this was a way to replenished their forces and go after the remaining Death Eaters

You could technically say the whole finding and killing the horcrux has one giant test for being a auror plus he pretty much nailed all his past tests in the subject
I would consider getting NEWTS a barely acceptable alternative to defeating an existential threat like Tom Riddle, as opposed to the thought that they benefited from favoritism when they didn't have to accomplish stringent academic standards because they involved themselves in some silly battle.

Clearly not since it wasn't the end cause, you know, Cursed Child and Wizards Unite but it feels so unrewarding not having 2 of the 3 protagonists of the whole thing not accomplish one of their roles throughout the whole series.

In the books you actually get a reason for Petunias dislike of the wizzarding world, and low and behold it did involve Snape, and to her the loss of her sister. To be fair to Dudley he was aping his parents attitude as all children do when they are young it is only as they grow can that change.
I remember a scene where Harry talks to Petunia and Harry says something about losing his mum Lily, and Petunia sobs, "Yes...and I lost my sister" or words to that effect. She and Lily were so close as children and she knew about the spell that kept Harry safe while under her roof. I wonder when exactly it was that her relationship with her sister soured as originally, Lily tried to get Petunia into Hogwarts when she turned 11, but as there wasn't any magical ability in her, she was denied, although I have often thought that maybe there was a hint there, particularly when it came to things to do with Harry, but it was more like a sixth sense rather than full blown powers. I often wondered just why she turned to such a horrible person like Vernon.
I think it's possible that Auntie P kept the blanket because it was the only thing she had of her sisters (other than Harry), and not out of affection for Harry.

She cared for Harry in exactly the same way snape did, not for Harry the individual person, but for Harry, the last living person with Lilly's eyes. Both bound by Lilly's death to keep him alive and honor her sacrifice for him.
I’ve been re reading the series and my two biggest most surprising take aways is that Rowling is a better writer than I remember, and she’s worse at world building than I remember. The narrative style is funny and occasionally kinda reminds me of Douglas Adams. But the world of Harry Potter and the wizards world makes no sense and upon even the slightest pondering, the world falls apart and makes no sense as it’s incredibly under developed.
I never thought of this before but Harry and Ron weren't qualified wizards. How come they got to do magic and work for the ministry? Life is unfair in the wizarding world as well as the muggle one.
So Luna Lovegood marries into The Scamander Family, and as everyone knows Newt Scamander is The Fantastic Beasts guy Played by Eddie Redmayne. The Blanket shows that Petunia loved her sister Lily. Moana is best as a stand alone film.
I honestly find it hard to believe that any of the gold or silver trio would take government jobs, especially Neville. He always aspired to be a herbologist.

To add to this. They treated Harry better when he was around them less. There was a marked improvement from how he was treated in book 2 from 1.

All connected to some new conspiracy going on in Hogwarts with the Hufflepuff being written similar to Snape. In a way you`re never sure what he`s up to. For the housecup he`s the biggest threat, but for the conspracy you never really know whether he`s involved. Other characters could also be involved as teachers or part of the main story in one way or another.
Hermione DID focus on S.P.E.W. To quote her wiki page;

Their trust in the ministry changed when Kingsley took over. As for leadership, she was 15 or 16 when Dumbledore's Army was thing, her leadership skills have had time to mature in the next 20ish years before she becomes minister.
For Harry, from the wiki;
"Harry was promoted to Head of the British Auror Office at the age of 26, and would occasionally deliver Defence Against the Dark Arts lectures at Hogwarts. He was later promoted to Head of the Department of Magical Law Enforcement by the summer of 2020."
Harry still could become the full time DADA professor towards the end of his career.

I think you picked the absolute best way to end the video, Petunia is actually one of my favorite characters in the books because if you listen very close you can see that she is always worried about harry even though she is jealous that she cant be a witch and kind of hates him for him being one like his mom.

While writing my own fanfic of the canon, I stumbled over a bit of an issue that is never addressed in the canon. For most of the first year students going through sorting, the books state that there's roughly 50 students. 50 students times 7 years equals a rough enrollment of 350 students at Hogwarts. However, at one point it is mentioned that Slytherin has 200 students in their house alone and it is implied that Hufflepuff is the largest house by far. Even using the Slytherin numbers, 200 times four houses means that the total number of students at Hogwarts is around 800 or more.
So why the discrepancy? The first Death Eater war, of course. So many died in that fight that it dropped pregnancy rates by half and we're witnessing it in Harry's first year in school.
But it gets worse! Extrapolating from the 100 new students each year, I guesstimated that before the war, there was about 10-12,000 wizards in Britain. After the war, it probably dropped to about 8-10K in order to hit the birth rate that bad. So after the Second Death Eater War, the new population for the community is most likely around 6,000. In other words, if pure-blood sentiment is still prevalent, the wizarding community is going to go extinct.
So one of my lines in the year after fanfic is my MC telling a Slytherin student who is bad-mouthing a muggle-born, "We have lost so many lives that our way of life is on the verge of collapse! So yes, I will welcome each and every muggle-born that is sorted into our House, otherwise we are doomed!"
In relation to Harry’s infant blanket. I think 🤔 it was possibly an Evans family heirloom that Petunia recognised and remembered that her older sister Lily had. Just tossing it away would not have been a thought for her in that sense. When Dudley found it after Petunia’s death, it would’ve meant nothing to him.
Harry not going back to Hogwarts for his final year made no sense to me… Going to Hogwarts meant the world to him… It’s where he discovered himself and he could’ve had a year where he could reset himself…. try to get back to basics before heading to the ministry…

I’ve always loved hearing about what happened after Book 7. Most things I’ve liked but there are many which I don’t like all too much. Many of these come from revelations given in the Cursed Child. I find it uncharacteristic for Harry to not go finish Hogwarts. For defeating Voldemort, that gives Harry an obvious and automatic entry into the Auror office. But as Harry has deep sentimental value for Hogwarts, as it’s the closest thing to a home he’s ever had, I believe he would’ve finished. Ron of course would’ve followed suit. Besides he would’ve got to spend more time with Ginny as they’d be in the same year.
I also find it uncharacteristic for Hermione to have become Minister of Magic, much less any law related branch of government, unless it was focused on helping others for rights of a sort. *cough* SPEW.
The fact that Umbridge was put on trial and sentenced to Azkaban is super cool. This is something Universal is adding to their new Epic Universe theme park. They’re constructing a Ministry of Magic set during her trial. That’d be super cool.

I can tell you’ve reread those a lot. Those are like me and my Light Novels, manga, and Cultivation Novels. I’ve reread Dragon King’s Son-in-Law at least 6 times. Currently reading Overly Cautious Hero. I used to have all 7 Harry Potter books, reread to the point the binding was in a similar state as the ones at 0:26, until I had a break-in during a move. While I was unpacking my stuff at the new place, someone stole all my movies and books I hadn’t moved yet. And some of those were sentimental regarding value, as they were gifts from my late mother. People never think about these things, only about themselves 🤬

In regards to Petunia, in my opinion, two very important scenes were left out of the movies.
The first was in OoTP, when VD wanted(for the umpteenth time)to kick Harry out of the house.
Dumbledore sent her a howler telling her to "'remember my last!"
The second was when Harry told her that she had no idea what those people were capable of.
She replied that she lost her sister...she knows exactly what those people are capable of.
I wish petunia said what she was about to say before leaving Harry alone at four private drive in the final book. I imagine it would have shown a different side to her otherwise cold character.
I believe it is Hannah Abbet that has the worst close up in Hogwarts history in movie number four while she laughs in Harry’s face, wearing a “Potter Stinks!” badge. I hate to think Nevil’s bloodline ends with him.

More than that... Minster of Magic Kingsley Shacklebolt offered Auror training to any Hogwarts students who survived the Wizarding War. Many Aurors died and this was a way to replenished their forces and go after the remaining Death Eaters

I would consider getting NEWTS a barely acceptable alternative to defeating an existential threat like Tom Riddle, as opposed to the thought that they benefited from favoritism when they didn't have to accomplish stringent academic standards because they involved themselves in some silly battle.

Something about Ron and Harry not graduating gets on my nerves. I've been reading all about the terrible MHA manga's ending and I'm getting similar vibes. In the books you actually get a reason for Petunias dislike of the wizzarding world, and low and behold it did involve Snape, and to her the loss of her sister. To be fair to Dudley he was aping his parents attitude as all children do when they are young it is only as they grow can that change.

I remember a scene where Harry talks to Petunia and Harry says something about losing his mum Lily, and Petunia sobs, "Yes...and I lost my sister" or words to that effect. She and Lily were so close as children and she knew about the spell that kept Harry safe while under her roof. I wonder when exactly it was that her relationship with her sister soured as originally, Lily tried to get Petunia into Hogwarts when she turned 11, but as there wasn't any magical ability in her, she was denied, although I have often thought that maybe there was a hint there, particularly when it came to things to do with Harry, but it was more like a sixth sense rather than full blown powers. I often wondered just why she turned to such a horrible person like Vernon.

I’ve been re reading the series and my two biggest most surprising take aways is that Rowling is a better writer than I remember, and she’s worse at world building than I remember. The narrative style is funny and occasionally kinda reminds me of Douglas Adams. But the world of Harry Potter and the wizards world makes no sense and upon even the slightest pondering, the world falls apart and makes no sense as it’s incredibly under developed.
13 years is not a long time. The last book came out in 2007, I think, so only 17 years ago. That's not long at all.
I never thought of this before but Harry and Ron weren't qualified wizards. How come they got to do magic and work for the ministry? Life is unfair in the wizarding world as well as the muggle one.
