I'd take a handheld steamer for the clothes! Conair has a small one that would work well in a carry on. It's a great size for portability and keeps your clothes clean and neat.

Just an FYI, Europe uses more advanced sunscreen filters than the US does maybe that’s why they’re more expensive but they’re much more effective

By the way I just came back from Lake Bled last week and I counted those steps, there are 98 steps not 99 as you read when you Google the church at Lake Bled.
Thanks for sharing what you packed. Looks like you packed lots of things you didn’t use. I have packed carry on for many years and have a typical weight of 23-25 pounds including the weight of the suitcase. You can get by with so much less
Have yet to see an airline that rejects larger than spec backpacks. As long as it fits under the seat as a personal item you are usually okay. Now weight, on certain airlines, is another matter.
I have seen this happen quite a few times, but also see many items pass.

Sorry to be so blunt, but you guys really overpacked. I counted 27 pieces for Courtney, including the jackets in Michael's case. Michael had 24-ish (I lost count of the tee shirts).. And I cannot see how you managed to avoid checking those suitcases, either due to size, or to weight. I've packed carry-on only for most of my trips overseas in the last 30 years and I feel I overpacked at 12 items. If you have access to a washer, then you can pack way less. I pack the same amount of clothes for a 4 day trip or a 4 week trip--I just do some laundry each week.
Hey Lori, we absolutely understand that this style isn't for everyone! For now, it works for us.😊 We've done much more minimal setups in the past, but since we were gone for so long, we just wanted a few more options and "luxury" items. As we mentioned, we're refining our packing style as we go and there are several things we are going to swap out or leave behind in our travels going forward. It will be interesting to see how our setup changes through the years!

How much do your suitcases weigh when fully packed?
Do you guys think you could travel with just the PD one bags each? I do, though with AER bags. First time w Aer pack 2 and the last few times with the Aer travel pack 3 small (one to 4 months each time)
Roller bags get you stopped a lot of places, I am surprised that Avianca and the Latam airlines didnt charge you or give you crap, I have spent several months down there and was constantly flying to different cities and I watched them make many people pay or check their roller bags just because of the wheels,
If I packed this much in a carry on, I'd be slugged with hundreds of dollars in fees for exceeding the weight limit every time I took a flight.

Totally fair! We haven't been hit with any weight fees yet, but we're prepared to cover them if we are. We just work that into our travel budget. We've done plenty of trips in a more minimal style but this just wasn't that kind of trip 🙂

@@NomadicIslanders My partner's backpack was definitely going to be flagged as too large on our flight earlier this month, so we purchased the additional carry on before going through security. It was about $90 just for the one flight. This was just his backpack he always uses when traveling. If we had to do this more than once, you're already looking at hundreds of dollars. It's very easy to accrue additional fees like this if you aren't careful. We thought that because that was his only bag it wouldn't be noticeable, but we saw other people with bags smaller than his get pulled aside, so we were glad we did it. Definitely something to factor in ahead of time.

How much did each of ur luggages and backpacks weigh? Im not bringing as much as u have but I'm always going over 23KG/25kg (emirates airline allowed weight for check in bagages), and ur backpacks didn't look like 7kg only...
were there certain situations where you needed the washing-machine-bag, versus just washing stuff in the shower while you also shower? shampoo and suds are great. I used to use the stretchy, twisted clothes lines but prefer a length of paracord - the stretchy ones sag so much under a heavy load. (Love a room 'decorated' with attachment points for clothes found anywhere.

Hey there! Good question 😊 Our packing cubes are designed for daily outfits, so we use them when we’re packing for a week or less. We’ve been full-time traveling recently so we’re on the road for weeks at a time and aren’t planning daily outfits. We can definitely show how we use them if we film packing for a shorter trip in the future 😁

Dragging wheeled suitcases across gravel is a good way to destroy them. And wheeled suitcases are extremely heavy. Savvy travelers choose frameless backpacks 50L or smaller.
By savvy you mean poor. After a certain age no one respectable wants to travel like a poor 20 something year old.
