This has been my go to camera for the past three-years. I film interview style outdoor content, and as a one-man production show this camera is just perfect. I do agree about the menu set up it can be a bit of a hassle to navigate.
I use the GH5 as my main camera, but my second camera and extreme telephoto lens? HC-X2000 camcorder, it's identical to the AG-CX10 but doesn't have P2 recording and the ethernet adapter. Here's some footage I got on the HC-X2000, even some nice bokeh, it can be used in a cinematic sense even though that's not the primary purpose for most people who buy one: th-cam.com/video/FuwTB8BdkMo/w-d-xo.html - I describe all the settings I used in the video description. I like the built in ND array, and the extremely bright (and much higher resolution screen than on the GH5). Unlike the AX700 / NX80 / Z90 from Sony, you can use the viewfinder and screen at the same time. The camera has a much better waveform monitor than the GH5, and I don't even need focus peaking due to the sharpness, I use the "detail" setting which sharpens details (GH5 doesn't have that). Also, you can punch in to check focus while recording, something you can't do on the GH5 either. I have over 85 hours of "operation time" on the camera (you can see your time from the menu setting), I know it very well. It isn't better than a DSLM, but just a different way of shooting. I also had access to a camcorder when I was a kid. I owned the Sony AX53 for a few years and always wanted a professional upgrade that was still very small ... Panasonic did it with this one :)
What frame rate/shutter speed were you using for the camcorder's a-roll? Looks great & sharp but weirdly a tinyyy bit.. almost "choppy"? I think camcorders still have their place and have amazing charm. Plus they're quite good value, even camcorders on the ultra budget end have basic video needs like a headphone jack - I think these days they're definitely centred more towards run & gun, documentary work where you want 1 cam to do all the work you need (jack of all trades, master of none/some style).
The CX10 is small, lightweight and at daylight a great camera. But when it gets darker, shooting indoor or at night, it's unfortunately a really bad camera. The focus is then very unreliable, the colors are ugly and if you slightly use the zoom, the image is too dark to be usable. In November we upgraded to the Canon XF605. Yes it's larger, heavier and costs the price of 2x the CX10, but its 1" sensor and EOS iTr AF is worth the price.
what are the differences between this model and their HC-X series of camcorders?? the HC-X20 and X2 or X2000 ? what do you gain and loose with that series over this AG series? thanks for showing us a fun camcorder in modern days!
I’m thinking about buying this camera to film my friends and I golfing. I currently use the A7riii with a sigma art 24-70 and it’s a little lunky and hard to run and gun with. Also I’d like something to zoom with. This looks like a good camera!
the motion of this (and the same cam X2000, X1500) is just sooo much superior over Sony's AX700 which is sharper and far better in low light, but has such ugly motion, even in 1080p60. On the other hand 4K60 looks like a Dream on this Panny one, is just so satisfying.
Maybe be good comparison: Fuji xe4 vs xt3 ??? Like you can get these for same price right? Aaaaand, aside from flip screen, is there anything really different?? Like the internals seem the same after Fuji juice power update?
In today’s world everyone is shooting video on either there phones, dslr cameras, or mirrorless cameras. Camcorders are a thing of the past to most people
@@toogifted6491 Video on all these DSLRs and mirrorless cameras are shot exclusively by lamers in technology, they simply do not understand and have long since become a thing of the past, they shoot less than camcorders, this technology is much easier to replace with a phone.
The A/C adapter charges the battery while it is plugged into the camera. It runs endlessly, then. The battery runs about 4 hours, so I bought a couple after market batteries at a very low price, so without needing to access A/C I can shoot about 12 hours.
@Guilherme So what? it is worth the money, there are no analogues. And the picture quality is better than that of most large-matrix cameras, there is nothing to say about the shooting capabilities - better than all large-matrix cameras
@Guilherme I just understand in cameras, but you are an amateur, all amateurs choose cameras first of all by the size of the matrix. And if you want to argue that simple, I can easily prove that camcorders with such small sensors have huge advantages, and you just won't shoot much with your cameras with large sensors.
@Guilherme I used the little brother to this camera the HC-X2000 to film a church performance, I seriously doubt anyone will complain about the footage quality in low light for most situations other than film making: th-cam.com/video/SfggWSAs1Xk/w-d-xo.html - Also the others were using big Black Magic cameras with huge sensors. My footage looked better. Knowing how to expose your footage means more than how good the sensor is. I processed it in Davinci Resolve. I used the little known but awesome SMX-30 microphone by Azden.
Everyone complaining about it not having a 1 inch sensor please shut up. The benefits of that are so insanely minimal and double if not triple the price, with less features. Its nothing more than fodder for fanboys who have never used a camera other than a cellphone.
1) I don't like the audio inputs on the left side; 2) as you mentioned in the video the aperture closing as you zoom is deal killer; 3) you're excited about built-in ND filters? You ramble on as if this is a recent concept; 4) I like the built-in LED light; 5) I did not see a Zebra button. Overall I would not recommend this camera.
I believe there is two-stage zebra in this camera plus, any fixed lens camcorder has some kind of closing aperture except maybe the super high end ones that cost a few more buckaroos..... I was looking at Z90 and this one for me and I do like the longer zoom range better.
I have owned similar model, X1500 for about 18 months. There is Zebra, Waveform. IR and many other features. I would highly recommend to anyone doing run and gun, events, livestreaming, 4k 10 bit recording. There are many codec options, and other features. This beats mirrorless in just about every category, considering the small, all in one, footprint.
How do people reviewing this camcorder not mention the big selling points this has for people who would be interested in a camcorder - Built in live streaming capability and NDI...
You don't need to press so hard, just press for a little longer then you are used to, with your cell phone. When in bought sun, set the LCD backlight to +2, it significantly improves the brightness.
@@connormccaskill 👀👀👀 I’m interested in your thoughts when you come back from your break. Very close to buying one. I know the autofocus “isn’t great” but it’s not a big deal to me.
hey check out the cramcorder here - amzn.to/2YoXbxf
I'm guessing that a cramcorder is a camcorder in a small space.
The anamorphic footage at 7:45 looks incredible!
7:09 - You can fix this by changing a setting in the menu "Video Out/LCD/VF > LCD > Self Shoot > Normal"

That AX700 is pretty nice. I play with it every time I’m in Best Buy haha

Great review! Thanks Zach!
Thanks for the honest and simple review.
Is the pizza film in mov or mp4? And what other record settings are you using in the film with this camera?
How is the autofocus on this camera? Especially for long recordings where someone is giving a lecture or sermon. Does it stick to the subject?
I have the X1500, and then bought the optional handle. The Face Detect on these cameras, stick like gum on your shoe. It is excellent.

where does 2021 have to do with camcorder? Something I did not understand this phrase at the beginning of the video.

Nice fun review. But this one has very small sensor. I think those camcorders with 1 inch sensor will be favor for many people.
Can anyone confirm if this is a camera that JulesJordan site uses? lol
Not gonna lie, he got me with the "anamorphic" at 07:44 xD
Definitely not a little cheapo cam. This one is quite capable, especially from the IBIS and audio front.
I've seen it. Is it possible to charge power while filming?

I miss the 90s
love that Amy Poehler frame in the background!
I was just researching this cam, talk about timing. I was looking at this one and Sony Z90.
Man, 3:57 actually made me laugh out loud!
It has made by Japan or China???
If it were a 1" sensor camcorder, that might be more interesting.
sensor size means almost nothing, often smaller is better on the contrary

mostly superior motion over the Sony AX700, not just in 4K60 but in general
