That one boy that I’m babysitting is so noisy and he is screaming whenever something gets wrong. He is so loud and even once the neighbors called the boy’s parents while I was babysitting him, he was screaming like a maniac just because I told him no TV. (He was watching it for 2 hours!)
You DEFINITELY need to memorize the behavior management tips when babysitting this child. (Here they are for easy access safesitter.org/behavior-tips/). And if his behavior continues to be more than you can handle - or want to handle - it's okay to turn down the job. Tell the employer that you either are not available or that the child's behavior is more than you can handle in a babysitting job and that you don't feel comfortable taking on that responsibility. You don't have to say yes to every babysitting request!
I am a behavioral therapist for children, and in my training- the most effective way is to not give a positive (comfort/give in) OR negative ( “NO! *not happy face* That’s not okay you can’t have candy before dinner your mom said”) reaction or response. The best way to ignore the bad behavior & follow through calmly with what you are asking of the child with no expression & say I understand that makes you feel upset but after you finish your dinner I’ll be so excited to give you a piece of candy! 😊 - I know it sounds harsh but it’s effective. Kids don’t care what attention they get, bad or good- they just want a reaction. Acting unphased and then praising any little behavior or step they are making to try to comply… PRAISE THAT CHILD socially with a high five or statements like “oh my gosh! You are so awesome & so fast at cleaning up!! Give me a high five!!” Then quickly proceed to transition them to the “demand” or instruction you gave them earlier like “ahh I’m so silly!! I totally forgot to tell you your food is on the table!😅 Let me know when you’re finished so I can give you this yummy candy 😍”
I'm 13 and I had to babysit two little kids while also teaching a girl my age maths. I let them sit in the room and I told them to play the quiet game. Worked perfectly.
I started babysitting this little 7 year old girl a week ago, and I'm going over tomorrow but she is so sweet, I'm sure these tips will come in handy one day!!
Tomorrow I’m babysitting for around 5 hours, 3 kids and I’ve babysat them before and the little boy just runs around everywhere (they’re so adorable tho)
If I was an older kid getting babysat my babysitter would hear a LONG conversation about Once Upon A Time. It's my favorite tv show. Thumbs up if you agree.
Great question! If you EVER don’t feel safe at all, use a Safety Signal. A Safety Signal is a code message between you and your parents that tells them that you need to be picked up now - no questions asked! I like to use, “I’m ready to be picked up now.” My parents know if I call or text them that sentence to drop everything and come get me because I don’t feel safe.
Thank you for these tips! Sometimes, I struggle when I have to watch over my younger siblings. Most of the time I do well when I watch over them, but there are times where I am overwhelmed and start to get impatient. It's very important to know how to treat a younger child when you're watching them! 😅
I’m going to be babysitting two little girls in a month or two and this helped a lot! It’s my first time officially babysitting for people I don’t know to well, and it’s a little nerve racking 😅
i’m babysitting a 4 year old little boy with down syndrome. i love him so much, but he has a hard time explaining things to me like telling me what he wants and he gets mad and throws a fit. i try to comfort him, and i distract him with his other toys or i tell him to point to what he wants. you just need patience with kids
I’m gonna be babysitting a 7 yr old and MAYBE a 2 yr old. I mostly watch this for the 2 year old because they’re really noisy and they tend to hit and scream. Some even bite I’m not really worried about the 7 yr old. I just want to know Incase so I can take action!
Here is some additional information to keep handy! safesitter.org/behavior-tips/ Remember to stay in control of yourself and stay in control of the kiddos! Toddlers can be tough so be ready!
Hi Ava! You need to be strict when you enforce the rules. When you put her in timeout, tell her that it’s time to take a break for (whatever time you set) and when that time is up, she can return to playing. Use a timer so she knows that the break will eventually end. You may even need to stand right next to her in timeout to keep her in place. If that doesn’t work, call her parents to let them know you need help. It’s okay to ask for help!
@Nikki Bentley Is My Angel You just comment crap in every one of these videos. Oh and forcing them to say sorry actually just makes them resent you and I would fire you if you treated my child like that. Kids are people and they deserve respect
Me and my sister have a babysitting job and we make good money it is extremely exhausting 2 young kids under 3 years old 8 days in a row and 10 hours a day it can be rough and one of the kids is really disobedient this will help slog thanks 🙏
I'm 27 and I'm about to babysit my old boss's 5 kids in two days for a week. They're between the ages of 14 and 1 1/2 years old. I'm so nervous because I've never changed a diaper in my life and I'll be watching them for for 7 1/2 hours. I'm watching so many babysitting videos and taking notes. I hope they don't hate me and I'll do a good job
4k like!!! Got to change it from 3.9k to 4k! I’m so late to this but these tips I hope will help me! I’m a Highschool student looking for a few bucks to get a car and to start off my job money before working at a grocery store or something but I hope these kids aren’t as bad as they seem in my neighborhood
I start my job of babysitting a 3 year old and a 1 year old tomorrow and I’m watching all of these because I’m so nervous even though I’ve babysat before-
I’m sure you’ll do great! Just remember you are the child’s bodyguard and it’s your job to keep them safe. Watch the kids and watch out for danger. And most of all, have fun! Toddlers are a lot of work, but also really funny and so much fun to be around.

Today I’m probably going to babysit a three year old a five year old and six yr old. I’m only eleven so I don’t get payed. Nonetheless, the kids are adorable and I know how to take care of them pretty well. The parents just think I’m there to “have fun” with their kids. Don’t get me wrong I love baby’s and kids but it’s annoying bc I’m only eleven and I’m picking up and feeding and looking after 3-5 kids in my neighborhood. I just wanna get paid bc I’ve been watching them since the ending of quarantine in June almost everyday, I think I’m going to talk to my mom today about it. Also, babysitting makes a lot of money which I could use rn😂
How do u deal with young children that ... push, poke u, bite, rustle, bad tempered and much more? I’ve tried all of ur advice, and I really don’t want to cancel on the parents! Can u PLEASE HELP ME?
You need to let the parents know what problems you have with the children and that you are aren't sure if you can continue to babysit for them. They may need to talk to the kids and reinforce rules.
What ages do you recommend for a new 11 year old babysitter. I really want to babysit I just don’t know what ages, if you could tell me that would be awesome
Babysitter Boss the mom is going to be there but she is pregnant and that’s why she needs help because her husband has a work thing tho, I’m still scared
I mean, if it is toys and nothing is getting broken and no one is getting hurt, it's probably just the kid playing. If things are getting broken or people are getting hurt, you need to take away whatever the object is that the child is throwing.
I don't babysit but watch some kids (with the mom around) and the older one will always talk about minecraft. lol. Also, question: How old should we be to start babysitting?
What about if a kid gets so angry that they grab a knife and threatens u it's happened to me before so scary that I had to give in but then I took all the knifes away and took the donuts away again because his mum said that he can't have any
When I’m 14 and legally allowed to become a babysitter in my state I’ll bring some paper toy moths in I’ll put them on a stick and say catch the moth this is going to happen in the playroom or a spaced out area so nobody gets hurt this hack is to let kids let out their energy without being distructive and simply crazy and hyper then if they are really good they will have their favorite moth toy at the end if they were good but if they were really bad and if they were kids 5 and up then they wouldn’t get 5e moth or butterfly toy bc they simply need to know you don’t get rewarded for bad behavior and maybe next time they’ll get it:3
Although I'm only 10 I'm planning to become a babysitter when I turn 11 I'm planning to take a babysitting course and in my state which is Kansas it is legal to start babysitting thing at 11 so I'm planning to do only the weekends maybe Tuesdays if my mom has them off and since you have to have a license to babysit 20 or more hours to a non-related child I plan to do 18 hours a week which is a handful since each day I'm going to be doing 6 or 12 hours which is going to be a lot since I only be 11 but I'm planning to start my own Facebook or have my mom post it on hers and say that I'm open I'm only going to charge $8 an hour and just like you with only cash or checks or see if there's any other way to get paid I'm only going to charge $8 an hour because I'm not a professional babysitter and I won't be but today at the park this little girl who apparently when the mom was talking with my mom barely came up to strangers just followed me I guess I just have a look at my eyes or something because kids love me and one of my friends who I was being babysitted by their mom had a baby cousin it whenever I went around that baby cousin would Adore me he was so sweet and then I found out he was saying the f-word which is really weird but still I'm super excited to become a babysitter and your videos have carried me along way even though I've only been watching them for 1 today I've already learned how to change a baby's diaper and how to handle bad behavior and I'm going to have to be careful because I do have a tiny bit of a potty mouth but I'm going to be as patient as I can be thank you for teaching me so much!😁😁💖💖❤️❤️❤️⭐⭐😻😻😻👏👏🙏🙏🙏😊😊😊
y'all here's a quick tip for after everything in this video has not worked (it finally happened to me 😭)..... cocomelon. idk what it is but kids aged about 1-4 LOVE cocomelon, try it out!!

I give you my sympathy
Maybe you can take the kid to a playground? (If that’s okay with parents.) Maybe a change in scenery could help.
I have a kid I babysit just like that he screams and yells when he doesn’t get what he wants I tell him no all the time.

Well one I would like to know about is house safety
If you don’t feel safe in a house for whatever reason
Like weapons, people that won’t leave, etc.
Great question! If you EVER don’t feel safe at all, use a Safety Signal. I like to use, “I’m ready to be picked up now.” My parents know if I call or text them that sentence to drop everything and come get me because I don’t feel safe.
I was also told to say that in safe sitter!
Thanks for the advice
Lord of the pun everything I learned about babysitting I learned from Safe Sitter!

A girl I babysit disagrees with me a lot one time she said that was the worst babysitter ever. What should I do if she says that again.

what age did you start babysitting?
Around 12
Im a kid but I’m weird-ish-.y and find this intresting lol
not bossy when babysitting right now, it's only a job
where was the third
When will new episodes come? 😞
Not sure - everything is on hold right now with the COVID-19 pandemic.
Im 12 so i know stuff about minecraft and roblox & games like that so i could literally relate to the kids 😅 😂
Can you make a video of how to handle a playful one year old baby boy
Maybe in the future. Here are some ideas for now: safesitter.org/toddlers/
I don't babysit but watch some kids (with the mom around) and the older one will always talk about minecraft. lol. Also, question: How old should we be to start babysitting?
Usually around 11 or 12 is a good age if you've taken a babysitting course like Safe Sitter. You'd be surprised how much you'll learn in the class!
What about if a kid gets so angry that they grab a knife and threatens u it's happened to me before so scary that I had to give in but then I took all the knifes away and took the donuts away again because his mum said that he can't have any
If a child is threatening to hurt themselves or others with a weapon, you need to call 9-1-1.

Freaks out from what?
