I can relate to this soo much. I’ve been meditating almost every day for the past 6 years (the same length of time that I’ve experienced chronic fatigue - which eventually developed into M.E./CFS 2.5 years ago after struggling at university), and although I often experience benefits straight after meditation, it’s never been enough to reduce my overall stress levels and for me to notice the benefits trickle through in my every day life, and I have always felt this has much to do with the environment I’ve been in not being right for me. I’ve always felt chronically stressed living in the UK, even through my school years and also experienced mild health symptoms back then, but this feeling has been the norm for me. It’s not until I’ve experienced being abroad for long periods of time (the US, Chile, Germany) that I’ve experienced being a healthy and relaxed person. I’ve never been able to explain why this is and so have tried to force a fulfilling life in the UK, by going out and meeting people, dabbling in all sorts of activities at Uni, getting out in nature, practising spirituality, healthy eating exercise etc etc, but I’ve always been so stressed when doing these things, so I’ve experienced so much thinking along the lines of: what’s wrong with me? Why can’t I have healthy relationships, or enjoy my course at university, or ever relax? But I understand my experience and struggles have been a result of an overly stimulated nervous system which those around me haven’t been able to understand and I tend to put up a wall pretending that everything is fine. Ive tried tirelessly to relax my nervous system and improve my life through meditation and leading a “healthy lifestyle”. But I think removing myself from high-pressure environments has always been the key for me. Anyway this was a bit of an essay. Thank you so much for sharing yet another great recovery story Raelan! Your kindness and enthusiasm helps so many of us. And Sam thanks for sharing your story. I’m going to reach out to you! Blessings to all 🙏

I just wanted to comment here to say I recently completed Sam's 4 day Vedic meditation course after 18 months living with Long Covid. This course is 100% worth the time and money. I had been struggling with intense fatigue, joint pain and struggled to surrender to the situation to allow my body to heal. In just 10 days, I have been getting to sleep much easier and having deep sleep (around 9 hours a night!), I have experienced consecutive days of no pain and I feel much calmer about the situation. What type of meditation is it, and about how long does it take? I was doing Joe Dispenza's type of meditation for awhile. It was helping w/ acute depression and grief, to help calm the mind chatter while I did it. It didn't cause any real healthy changes over months.

Having been through this himself, he deeply understands what he's talking about from both a theoretical and practical stand-point. Thanks Raelan for bringing Sam into my recovery journey!
I have developed a huge fear about my son getting this illness. Every time he’s tired or has a sore legs I go into panic. I’d love a interview with a mother who’s recovered and how she manages that fear.
Melinda, if your son ever gets ill he will be in a much better position than you, because you will be there to help him and point him in the right direction early on. You may even be able to help guide him while he's healthy and prevent him from ever developing CFS. It will all be okay ❤️

Thank you for all of this detail, I think it’s very important. What I can say is that I constantly got unwell through my life, I seemed to catch everything! Since meditation (I know I keep banging on) I had only one case of “the man flu” (my fiancée calls it) in 3.5 years. No sore throats or coughs or anything. It’s almost like my immune system started working correctly. I remember in 2019 there was a big flu that wiped everyone out in the office for 2 weeks, I was the only one in the office. I had it, but my immune system was on top of it.
Other things that helped was a light yoga practice, movement and stretching. I also looked at the medical medium, but found Ayurveda to be very helpful. Funnily enough most people with CFS seem to have high pitta imbalances.
@@soma-meditation thanks for sharing! it seems to be a pattern that some of us had this tendency to "catch everything" when we were on this fight/flight state, I agree yoga and stretching is super helpful, tho I've had months were I literally could not move from bed!
@Hello It's K thanks for your message. This isn’t mindfulness. Mindfulness is a benefit of meditation. What I am saying is give your body the best chance to heal, help it go into parasympathetic more often by allowing the body to go into some deep rest. Of course this isn’t going to work for everyone by itself, but it’s an important ingredient in a wellness strategy. It directly works with your central nervous system.
Thank you SO VERY MUCH Raelan and Sam!!! The hope shared through this video means the world to me!!! So happy for the two of you that you are feeling well now!!! I can’t wait to get to the other side of this!!! Thanks again!!!
Thanks very much for this video. I have been mediating for a couple of months and mindfulness breathing. I find I’m letting go and my nervous system is calming down. I am recovering and are able to do more activities. I am also working on changing my mindset which has had huge benefits. I would encourage anyone to start on this journey. 💗
Thank you so much Sam for sharing your story, it resonates so very much with me being a highly "sensitive" person and highly empathic and it's the thing that I'm gradually figuring out is needing most attention for me to get better. It especially resonated with me when you said you had flown to Miami to find out more about he Methylation Cycle , as this is the sort of thing I get caught up in too, and yet I need to look in the other direction for the answers as the body can take care of that when in the right state. I have just done Dan Neuffers course on brain retraining, but haven't yet hit the nail on the head. Raelan's channel has been super helpful. Any more hints on dealing with the empathy and setting boundaries would be helpful, as it's only recently I've realised I'm picking up on all that extra stimulus and taking it on board as my problem and reality. I also see that not everyone commenting here really listened to your story, which is frustrating, but you handled that well ;)
This is such an uplift for me, so many things Sam has mentioned I can relate to, after my first time practicing Soma Meditation has given me an uplift and hope. Thank you
Thanks for this Video. I want to endorse Sam and his meditation course here without any self interest. Just want to share that I had learnt meditation myself a few times (different variants) but it's something completely different when you take Sam's course. I even went to one of his retreats in Portugal and it has helped my health a lot. Sam is an honest and knowledgable guy and I couldn't have asked for a better teacher in meditation. Thanks Raelan for your videos and for making me find his course.
The past 6 weeks I have had horrible nightmares in the morning before I wake up and I would be physically exhausted. I have had CFS for over seven years but the nightmares are new.
🙏🙏🙏 For lack of a better word, brilliant. Not only do we hold on to things from our own life, but from so many past generations. And such kind of things are embedded very deep within. Meditation helps one to let go of all that, but slowly, very slowly. So, one needs to give it time, not do it like a university degree. It is such a blessing that you found it, Sam ❤️ Love and strength to you, so you can pass it on to many more 🙏 Raelan, ❤️😊🙏
I recently started a pretty intensive meditation practice and it is definitely helping me (w/ both ME/CFS and histamine intolerance). I had experimented here and there with meditation in the past, but would give up after just one or two sittings because I felt like I sucked at it and so it must not be doing any good. The game changer for me was when I heard that EVERYONE sucks at meditation for the first year or so. You just keep doing it. The crazy thing is that I'm getting such immediate and obvious results DESPITE the fact that my mind usually wanders most of the time. (Sometimes almost the entire time, lol.) I do meditate a lot, though. Four hours per day ideally. But sometimes much less, so don't let that discourage you from giving it a shot. Love to you all. And thank you so much Raelan for the incredible work you're doing _/\_ And to you Sam for sharing your story here _/\_
I appreciate you taking the time (and energy!) to share a bit of your health journey. It's nice to share these stories and know that we are all not alone in this ❤️
This interview resonates with me the most. I am struggling with this illness but feel bit more upbeat after listening to Sam. I decided to give a try to meditation as I was very sceptical about it until now. Thank you for this video x
Terrific video! My daughter has Covid right now. She is a college student and I have a huge worry that she will get M.E./CFS as well. Sam, we do tend yo normalize stress for sure. I love the part on letting go. I know that is something I need to work on. I would love to know more about your form of meditation!
Part 2 is coming soon! Letting go process becomes much easier with consistent meditation practice. I recommend The Untethered Soul to all of my students.
Interesting video and I really liked the point around 36:00 discussing the challenges so many face in the modern world. “I’m tired too,” is frustrating to hear but also makes it hard to be hopeful to strive for really feeling good. So a lifestyle change doesn’t sound like a bad idea. Thanks for sharing, Sam and Raelan
Hi Sam. I learned Transcendental Meditation and the Meditation you described sounds like TM? I find it helps. Perhaps you can't say? You mentioned it was 'Soma' Meditation
I came across this vid today as I'm approaching my SIBO issues and learning about methylation and genetic issues (i just ordered books about em a week ago). I've had CFS for 4 years and I've been doing SIBO herbal protocol for a month now. As Sam said, I've been feeling a bit worse in the past one month idk if that's Hexheimer reaction or die offs from herbs (oregano, berberine, allicin etc) but my mindset was "ok this feels quite bad, but im willing to do this for another month". This interview got me on the fence about my protocol. I'm already getting 20 percent less energy due to the protocol, and not even sure if this thing's gonna get me through fatigue. I'm already a yoga person, I personally find it really helpful and I think I still have energy to at least go do things around the house thanks to yoga, but I really wanna give the soma meditation a try! Do yall think if I should continue with sibo protocol? might be still beneficial....I wanted to hear if the protocol Sam was doing contributed to his recovery, maybe in the next interview
Hey, I came off all protocols, I just didn’t feel like they were working or something was missing. I had a healthy diet, no processed foods etc. That doesn’t mean it won’t work for you, but I tried it for months and it wasn’t for me. I always think it’s worth giving enough time for something to work. If it doesn’t, at least you know you gave it your best and you can move on to something else. Meditation is what did it for me. My body started to feel safe and my system started to work properly again. Good luck!
@@soma-meditation Hi! it's been 4 months and I'm here to tell you i came off all protocols too! Unfortunately I can't tell if herbs are working, but im stress free now and I picked up more meditation and even pilate classes and it seems to be lessening my symptoms!

Another really insightful video!! Thank you 😊 I also feel like my cfs was a long time in the making and I had mild symptoms for a decade before things got really bad. It was really interesting about struggling to learn and retain information...I've always struggled with this.. somehow I managed to fumble through education and career despite this but I never put 2 and 2 together!!! Did you say it was the meditation that changed this for you? Or was it just that you could relate to the subject matter and still struggle with other learning etc? 🤔
Hi Karen, yes meditation was that pivot point. Basically if we are under stress and our sympathetic nervous system is constantly being stimulated, our pre-frontal cortex (thinking and creativity) is inhibited because the blood flow is being redirected to our limbic system (amygdala/ stress response). Meditation helped me feel safe more and more often, my amygdala didn’t think I was being chased by a leopard. Which means so many functions come back on line. Hope this helps.
Thank you for the explanation.. its really helpful. I have noticed my brain fog has been clearing but didn't realise that the meditation I do will be helping with that! I'm not sure I'd be able to learn something new just yet but now I have hope for the future 🙏
Raelan i apreciate your work to give hope to people cause hope is what gives you the strenght to go on anyway i feel like many guys you interview that solve theyr problem with just meditation or similar thing never had CFS or Me. if you recover with meditation you never had CFS/ME. You had something and i'm happy to hear that this guy is doing better but we cannot say he had CFS
Hello, meditation played a big part in my recovery and without it, I don’t think I’d be where I am today. It opened me up to the way that I think (who is actually inside the mind). I became happier and so much calmer inside. It helped me massively with the stress in my life, this isn’t an overnight fix. Just by meditating, it helped me become more conscious about how I lived my life. Which lead me to make better choices along my healing journey. There was no question about my diagnosis, believe me, I didn’t want it to be true, because I’ve seen what it did to my mother and grandmother. Above all, it helped me feel safe and from that point my health started to increase. For me it was an integral ingredient in my recovery process. I hope this helps to clarify a little. This was not a quick fix. There will always be situations where meditation won’t be enough by itself. There are things you can do in conjunction.
Wow it is grear that you can make diagnosis just by looking at screen and listening to someone. Can you please make diagnosis of all of us so we can know what exactly is going on? If its cfs or something else? Also Im so happy that you researched this mysterious illnes to the point that you scientificaly proved that people cured mostly with brain training never had it… wow… that is fenomenal! Never heard of that study, but apprently you fid it! Thank you so much 🙏🤍

There is a soma breathwork, but the two are not the same. Soma Meditation is the name of my company.
@@soma-meditation thanks sam. Your interview has inspired me to go back to my TM practice , and stick to it this time. I am 63 and got ill at 20 years old. Been a disaster. I also did LP, but it did not work. I'm glad it worked for your mum. It does seem to work for a few people, but their claims of an 85 per cent success rates are a blatant lie. Looking forward to part two.
Yet another story of someone going off to college and getting sick. It's the moldy housing that is causing this illness. Lowering our stress tolerance, making us believe the stress is at fault. He "did well at the gym" but not in his dorm, hmm.... And changing his environment led to his recovery. Is this becoming obvious yet? University isn't stressful enough to cause this!
I actually did university from home, no dorms for me. Worked full time and did university in my evenings and weekends. I also had mold on my bedroom wall in a house I lived in for 12 years. I started looking into mycotoxins later (after my recovery took a huge step in the right direction), as a friend mentioned it. I looked at Dave Asprey, the majority of the diet I was already doing. During the worst parts I moved around a lot, too. So for my own experience mold wasn’t the factor, it might not have helped, but wasn’t the main factor. Depends on someone’s ability to detoxify those mycotoxins. What we Absolutely do know is that stress plays a huge part in many illnesses.
@@soma-meditation Thanks for the clarification, but Dave Asprey is not an expert on the subject. It doesnt come from foods. You just told me there was mold in your house, which most people dont even notice because its inside walls and behind ceilings most often. It took me 15 years in my childhood home to develop full blown cfs, so you moving before the illness was not a requirement, I concede on the dorm point. However moving during the illness was a requirement to get away from the poison and to recover. You just confirmed you did that. No amount of meditation cures this illness while trapped in a water damaged environment.
@@ratfacekick all I can give you is my own experience. I moved to 4 different houses around London after the mold house and my symptoms got a lot worse. My mum actually recovered from CFS in that moldy house. Mold could be in almost every home these days… My mind changed, I changed, the way I experience life has completely changed, stress doesn’t affect me like it used to. The way I respond and react to everything, I feel safe and calm throughout my day, which is something I’d never experienced. That’s what changed for me. Along the way perhaps my body became better at removing toxins from mold. The effect of learning meditation and practicing it everyday was way too significant and impactful. It eventually brings a level of balance back into the body, so the body has a chance to heal. As always it takes time.
@@soma-meditation I think what you did is pretty awesome actually, I don't want to downplay the importance of calm and balance. But I believe it was a tool and not the cause of the illness. Being stressed is hugely common, and few get cfs. Most cfs people are unusually calm given their circumstances. I think it's fair to say that one must address both
But from four year my weakness not gone many treatment but no effect on my mind and body my arm legs neck shoulder so weak and painful any time I can not any work at home no company to my husband I am very upset please help me which madicin I used

@Hello It's K yes, it's possible, in my case I noticed them in my stools but some of them are super tiny and you could easily ignore them
Thank you SO VERY MUCH Raelan and Sam!!! The hope shared through this video means the world to me!!! So happy for the two of you that you are feeling well now!!! I can’t wait to get to the other side of this!!!
Thanks again!!!
Thank you, Stacy! 💓
Amazing Valerie, thanks for sharing this! 💓
Thanks for your articulation and strength Sam
Thank you so much! Great information and hope!!
Glad it was helpful!
🙏🙏🙏
For lack of a better word,
brilliant.
Not only do we hold on to things from our own life, but from so many past generations. And such kind of things are embedded very deep within. Meditation helps one to let go of all that, but slowly, very slowly. So, one needs to give it time, not do it like a university degree.
It is such a blessing that you found it, Sam ❤️
Love and strength to you, so you can pass it on to many more 🙏
Raelan, ❤️😊🙏
❤️❤️❤️
It's nice to share these stories and know that we are all not alone in this ❤️
Florida, Portugal, 6 months studying and working all whist dealing with cfs well done mate for pushing through it all
This interview resonates with me the most. I am struggling with this illness but feel bit more upbeat after listening to Sam. I decided to give a try to meditation as I was very sceptical about it until now. Thank you for this video x
Rooting for your recovery, Danuta 💓💓
Thank you for sharing your story!!! ❤️
@@soma-meditation thanks!
Agreed, well said Antonia ❤️
@@RaelanAgle thank you for what you do ❤️
Hi Sam. I learned Transcendental Meditation and the Meditation you described sounds like TM? I find it helps. Perhaps you can't say? You mentioned it was 'Soma' Meditation
Hello, yes they are similar! I teach Vedic Meditation. My company is called Soma Meditation. 😊
This is so great. I can relate to so much of this. I’m also having success with meditation and I’m only 6 weeks In
Wonderful!
@@rollings2035 wow, congratulations. It’s all about reducing the stress input and then training ourselves to be more resilient to it. 🫡

Thank you so much for sharing. I would love to know more about meditation with sounds, but I'm obviously not going to pay 400 pounds for that.
Sounds like used transcendental meditation. When you sign up, let them know if you can't afford the fee, they often reduce it for you
That lightbulb moment doesn't happen for everyone, tho.
I learnt Vedic Meditation, the same practice as TM, but not affiliated with them. I now teach Vedic Meditation.
@@JoyfulMD it all depends on the teacher and the support you have afterwards to help keep you consistent, because consistency is key with this practice.
Thanks
Graham, THANK YOU! What a kind and generous soul you are. I hope that your world is treating you well ❤️
Another really insightful video!!
He looks bright and healthy! Most of us look like zombies lol
A typical story: working full time and studying at the same time.
Feels like we have a predisposition to CFS. Because a lot of people manage it when they are young, but we get sick.
He’s so cute 🥰
Why all cfs what about fibromyalgia???
What type of meditation he did? Was it Joe Dispenza?
It’s called Vedic Meditation, the same as Transcendental Meditation, just a different name.

The same as Vedic Meditation, just a different name.
@@soma-meditation ah ! Thanks. I thoughr soma was breathwork.
@@dommccaffry3802 Soma means the expression of the absolute in the relative. I.e. the qualities that are experienced within Vedic Meditation are brought out with us in our daily life, not just experienced in the meditation.
Mold could be in almost every home these days…
My mind changed, I changed, the way I experience life has completely changed, stress doesn’t affect me like it used to.
